I have always suspected that the "Famine" was the result of ineptitude - or even genocidal intent - on the part of our colonial masters. Interestingly enough, a standard, scholarly work on this grim
period of our history, published 4 decades ago, is entitled "The Great Hunger" by Cecil Woodham-Smith.

There was enough food in Ireland to feed the population of Ireland. The food was shipped out of the country under armed guard to be sold for profit. Purposely starving a whole country is murder, not "famine."

Because it is true, the Irish people are not the only race that British imperialsm tried to wipe out, but we were the first. It's terrible that since we have achieved 'partial' independence our government has helped the British sides version our our sad but proud history.

Because the truth should be told not a fabrication of the facts.... Irish slavery existed.. there was no famine just food been taken out of the country.. yes there was a blight that caused the spuds to rot... But food was plentiful... Just not for the poor

Because it's time the truth was out there, there was no famine the government just stood back and watched as hole communitys, family's and friends all died at the way side while the British government ordered their troops to gather and collect the nutritional food for themselves knowing what was happening in Ireland
