The government has no right to undermine parental authority in subtle indoctrination of sensitive topics like sexuality without the informed oversight of the parents.

Robert Steudle (Grovetown, 2021-05-28)

#16

As a retired teacher, I am aware that some books in teacher libraries or media centers, I my opinion are not age appropriate. Transparency in this situation would be in the best interest of parents and students.

Maxine Williams (Grovetown, 2021-05-28)

#17

Parents not schools should have the sole authority over what their children are taught (and when) about se/sexuality. They should also not be indoctrinated with racial inequity nonsense.

RosaLee Riggins (Mc Cormick, 2021-05-28)

I don’t want my Christian grandchildren exposed to these types of books at school. This decision is for the parents!

Catherine OByrne (Martinez, 2021-06-14)

#38

I am a concerned taxpayer. My kids were raised in Columbia Co. schools. I know I will have future grandchildren who will attend these same schools.

Kristine McGahee (Evans, 2021-06-16)

#40

Columbia County needs to decide if it wants to be a leader by saying 'no' to what is in vogue and raise the bar higher.

Chrystal Coleman (Evans, 2021-06-17)

#42

I think sexuality should be taught at home where parents can ask and answer questions. Books like “Media “ have no place in the school libraries.

Jean Dondelinger (Evans, 2021-06-19)

#47

I disagree with the Columbia county schools teaching children content that goes against a families religious beliefs without approval .

George Mitchell (Grovetown, 2021-06-20)

#48

I do not agree with this at all! I have 2 school aged children in Columbia County schools and I am irate that this was not asked before becoming implemented!!! I refuse to send my children to a school system such as this!!!

Jill Hinde (Evans, 2021-06-20)

#53

I agree with Katharine L. Allen.

Nancy Moulaison (Evans, 2021-06-21)

These topics should be addressed by parents in the home. Parents have the right to oversee their kids' reading material.

Ann Snyder (Grovetown, 2021-06-23)

#56

I’m signing because no child should be introduced to these topics without explicit parental consent.

Wellsley Stelly (Evans, 2021-06-25)

#59

I believe human sexuality should be taught at home and not school.

Thomas Cornwall (Evans, 2021-06-27)

#60

I'm signing because I want my children to come to me with questions or concerns regarding homosexuality or transgender ideology. I don't want them learning someone else's opinion through media at the school.

Erin Parrish (Evans, 2021-06-27)

#61

Children need to learn about these sensitive topics by conversing with family and general life experiences. As far as I am concerned, all criteria taught and available to teachers and students should be shared with parents / taxpayers, to include basic information such as lesson plans.

Jake Parrish (Evans, 2021-06-27)

#65

As a parent, and my children's primary educator, I am responsible for teaching them on items pertaining to sexuality. Additionally, it is not acceptable for a school district to decide at what age it is acceptable to expose my children to issues or content of this type.
As a taxpaying parent of four children attending schools in Columbia County, it is my opinion and request that this policy be reversed.

Kevin Cross (Martinez, 2021-06-29)

#67

I feel parents should always be consulted before radical changes in curriculum.

John Zook (Evans, 2021-06-29)

#71

Only a few years ago I was in the Columbia County School System, and I remember these topics. They have caused me a lot of psychological and emotional damage, and should not be provided for access to ANY child.

Anna Trachl (Evans, 2021-07-05)

#73

I’m signing because I have 5 kids and it should be my choice at what age.?!?!?!!

Carrie Muse (Grovetown, 2021-07-15)

#74

I am signing because I have grand and great grand children that need to be protected. The only way this can happen is if parents are fully informed.

Rose Cales (Evans Ga, 2021-07-16)

#75

I do not want Critical Race Theory or sexually explicit information taught to our students.

Catherine Beckenhauer (Martinez, 2021-07-16)

#76

I believe in an open and transparent government, which includes our tax payer funded public school system.

Carol Finch (Evans, 2021-07-16)

#79

- Homosexuality, along with general sexuality and transgender ideology, are sensitive topics that are best addressed at home.

- All schools in Columbia County should be required to inform parents that these topics are present in Media Centers and Teacher Libraries BEFORE children have access to them

Christine Johnson (Evans, 2021-07-17)

#80

We do not want our school-age G-daughter for whom we have custody, exposed to this inappropriate material. We expect the School Board to act more responsibly in exposing our young minds to this kind of material.

David Davis (Grovetown, 2021-07-17)

#81

The legislation and media in this country have twisted history and the needs of our children and I want to take our country and schools back to the basics. That includes a worldview from Christianity upon which our founders built America.

priscilla bence (Martinez, 2021-07-20)

#83

I’m signing because CRT teaches racism to children. It does not teach redemption but destruction, and has no place in Columbia County schools.

Kathryn Lehn (Augusta, 2021-07-21)

#84

Schools should be teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic, not filling children's minds with inappropriate material and political messages.

Daniel Sullivan (Appling, 2021-07-24)

#85

I’m signing because I believe my child needs to be taught education, not indoctrination. My child needs to learn math, science, factual history, etc., and not the current moral issues in our society. These should be left for discussion by parents. It’s not the schools job to teach these things to my child. It’s their job to teach her education only!

Ashley Lee (Evans, 2021-07-26)

#91

Time to stop teaching our kids what to think. Teach them how to think for themselves.

Hannah Norris (Grovetown, 2021-08-12)

#92

These books are INAPPROPRIATE and children should not have access to this kind of reading material.

Megan Globensky (Evans, 2021-08-12)

#94

These books should be removed from all schools! This isn’t diversity.

Emily Freeman (Grovetown, 2021-08-12)

#99

I have 2 school aged children in CC who have access to library resources. I want to ensure ALL school books made available to our children (K-12) is appropriate material, free from obscenity and indoctrination! Even if a book is not deemed “pornographic”, if it contains text that is sexually explicit or contains sensitive material, material we should never subject our children to, then it is “obscene” and does not carry the weight of protection as defined in the first amendment (Miller vs California, 1973, et. al.). This material has zero reason to be in our schools nor made available to minors.

As defined by Section 1470 of Title 18, “Harmful materials for minors include any communication consisting of nudity, sex or excretion…” especially for children, and are in violation of the law! Books such as “13 reasons why” and “nineteen minutes”, are so graphic no sane parent would read this content to their children aloud! So why would we want our children to read the content themselves?

No adult should EVER be implicit in providing such content to a minor EVER, and anyone knowingly involved should be doing EVERYTHING to have this obscene content removed immediately! Any adult who fights to keep this obscene and perverse content in our schools and accessible to children, is implicit in providing obscene material to a minor. In my opinion any such adult is in violation of 18 U.S. Code § 2251, regarding sexual exploitation of children!

Perverse material, such as “Drama” is also offensive to God and subsequently the Christian faith! Gender identity indoctrination, according to Pope Francis (the most liberal Pope of our time) and as written in a Vatican statement titled, “Towards a path of dialogue on the question of gender theory in education” indicates gender identity indoctrination in education is “terrible” and an “ideological colonization” of our children.

A former Johns Hopkins chief of psychiatry, Dr. Paul R. McHugh, also warned against enabling or encouraging gender identity indoctrination in young people, stating it makes them, “susceptible to suggestion from 'everything as normal” in sex education”.

We parents of school aged children are witnessing the absolute destruction of our children’s souls at the hands of our educators who claim social justice reasoning! It is not “social justice” or “anti-discrimination” to indoctrinate children with gender politics and explicit sexual content. Nor is it prejudice or discriminatory for Christians to believe indoctrination of sexualization and gender politics is wrong! We as Christians are taught God is love and that we must love our neighbor as our own. We can simultaneously hate the sin and love the sinner as is prescribed throughout the Bible. We can love the sinner even without “normalizing” their behavior!

The school board prays to God before every meeting, it’s is time for you to stand up as Christians against this perversity. Do not stand before God in judgement with the destruction of out children’s souls on your conscious! For, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6).

Joe Edlemon (Evans, 2021-08-16)

Catbyle Caywood (Evans, 2021-08-20)

#112

I don’t want our tax dollars to pay for library books directed to young people with morally objectionable content

Ann Heusel (Martinez, 2021-08-20)

#113

Because the school has lost their minds completely and are destroying the next generation! I do not have enough time or space to list all the reasons.

Jessica Winter (Grovetown, 2021-08-21)

#115

It is sick that we are even having to circulate a petition on this. Not the type of education I expect out of the school system I myself feel up in. What in the world has happen?????

Kristen Wilson (Martinez, 2021-08-22)

#116

There is no place in our schools for this filth period!! It is up to each parent when and how to teach their children about these issues!!!

Regina Starnes (Grovetown, 2021-08-25)

#119

My children need to be protected from this filth!

Sara Throckmorton (Appling, 2021-08-26)

#120

I am signing this because that even my homosexual friends hate to let young kids be exposed to so much sexual oriented media and publications especially in school. The current diversity rhetoric falsely portrayed them as a group heavily focuses on their sexual orientation instead of their merits in other social domains, which is very misleading and will cause more misunderstandings and stigma on them. The Board of Education obviously missed the point from the beginning and continue their mistakes by infringing every paren’s right on such private issue, which is the real culprit why both the conservatives and homosexual groups are not able to understand each other. The BOE should take the responsibility for dividing us by their wrong doing! They are squandering our tax money without blinking their eyes! Same when they indoctrinate our kids! Why we still pay taxes to pay them for causing more damages to our society and communities? Enough is enough!

Jiangnan Song (Augusta, 2021-08-27)
