Its the correct thing to do

Guy Chaston (Kommetjie, 2020-04-01)

I fully agree that stoping people from staying healthy physically and mentally will do more damages than the virus itself.

I implore our government to allow the people of South Africa to be allowed to walk at least 1 hour per day around their neighborhood.

This is a time where we all need to be strong mentally and physically.

Kind regards

Adi

Lee Odendaal (Capetown, 2020-04-01)

I'm signing because some of the rules are completely illogical, and do not provide any aid to our cause (containing the virus), and are in fact detrimental to our health and well-being.

Mikyle Wright (Cape Town, 2020-04-01)

#31

Everyone needs exercise to stay in a good place both physically and mentally.

I'm signing be side my cardio days I must walk at least 5km at abridk pace and get a sweat up. My dogs are also going nuts without their daily walk. Who would I compromise if I ensure a 2m social distance?

#49

I believe sensible relaxation of rules can give people a bit more hope/enjoyment without posing a risk.

Danie Meintjes (George, 2020-04-01)

We live on a Golf Estate. We have so much space to walk around. No one comes close to anyone. We find it very unfair that we cannot take our kids for a bike ride/walk and our puppy for a walk -without speaking or coming close to any other residents.

Karen Schrieder (Cape Town, 2020-04-01)

#55

I have to exercise. I'm overweight and I cannot run but I walk 10 000 steps per day to keep a constant weight. It is my life line... I absolutely need to do this.

I agree with all the points made in this petition, the decision has been made from a political stance and has ignored the people’s mental and physical concerns.

Rose Lemkus (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

#66

I agree

Jane Orpen (Somerset West, 2020-04-02)

I feel very strongly that exercise of oneself and ones pets is not a luxury it's essential for the mental welfare of both and it does no harm if done responsibly with suitable social distancing

Xandra Dunn (Cape town, 2020-04-02)

#70

This is an unproven, Draconian limitation.

Kerry Allerton (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

Matt Weisse (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#98

Going for a walk in our own neighbourhood I’d healthy for us and no risk to anybody provided we observe social distancing. My husband and I are both in our 70s; thank goodness we live in Australia where each of us can take short walk every day!

Joan Apthorp (Brisbane, 2020-04-04)

#103

Im signing because everybody needs to be able to go out for a walk and specially people who owns dogs.. I feel more sorry for the dogs being locked up than the people.

Bente Lonn (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#105

We live in an extremely remote village in a rural area and seldom cross paths with anyone while walking. At this time we should be looking after or mental and physical health and not being able to walk is contradictory to this...

Bronwen Langmead (Nieu Bethesda, 2020-04-04)

#107

If everyone follows the distance rules, it can work well. Exercise on the fresh is also very good for health.

Beate Deutschendorff (Neuwied, 2020-04-04)

#108

I agree young people shld be able to move around as is done in Sweden. Also, people need to exercise - with distance no problem. Abused women need to get out. Controlled movement is a better solution.

Laurel Prast (Cape town, 2020-04-04)

#109

For the past 3 weeks in the Netherlands, we are allowed out for 1 walk a day. You may not drive to your walk, and you must be within one hour's return to your home. You may walk with one other person, maximum ... AND you must stay 1.5m away from any other person walking. This CERTAINLY has helped with our mental health, pets energy levels and it gives us courage for further weeks of lockdown. When this is done, we must be healthy in all aspects of our lives to return to what is going to be, a rigorous effort to help the economy recover.

Karen Volpert (Eindhoven, 2020-04-04)

#110

I want to do exercise and walk my dogs and won’t be close to other people in the process.

Dirkje Daling (Nieu-Bethesda, 2020-04-04)

It seems perfectly reasonable to be allowed to walk around my security complex

Desiree Ressel (Hermanus, 2020-04-04)

I am a professor of community psychology and can see the risks that are manifesting, as outlined here; and also the physical and mental health benefits of some exercising, according to parameters as illustrated in other countries.

Walking is needed to keep my arthritis at bay

Maya Thomson (Sedgefield, 2020-04-04)

#126

While I understand the government's desire to reduce the spread of the virus, fresh air and out door exercise is vital for mental and physical wellbeing. Exercise can be taken at no risk to anyone, provided people are required to exercise on their own and have no contact with others outside their immediate family. Denying people the right to exercise by simply taking a walk or walking one's dog, is tantamount to decreasing a person's physical health and immunity and their psychological ability to cope with the stressful situation we find ourselves in.

Taryn Blyth (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#127

I am signing this because I need fresh air and daily nature connection for my physical, mental and emotional health. I feel we can keep a distance, space out and walk/exercise at different times. A someone supporting people with mental health related issues, I am also observing the negative effects of confinement as much as people want to comply and be safe and keep others safe. I also ask for permission to walk with our animals. They (i.e. dogs) are not contagions at all and going crazy in confined spaces without being able to walk and release their pent up energy. This in turn affects children and household members negatively. Plus if they defecate inside the house, it is plain unhygienic. Thank you for your consideration.

Undine Whande (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#130

It us unhealthy to not be allowed to walk once a day at least and get sunlight/vit d

Lynda Montignies (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#131

I'm signing because I desperately need to exercise, be able to go for a run at least every second day.

Annaret Meintjes (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#133

Running has no effect on spreading the virus but only healthy benefits.

Graham Richardson (Kraaifontein, 2020-04-04)

#139

Finally a man that makes sense. I agree with all the above and may I just add that so many people don't adhere to lockdown protocol but those that really do our part because we want to flatten the curve and want get out there again and work are the ones that suffer.... I'm signing in good faith may this have a good out come and have an effect on the goverments decision in future rather than making irrational decisions like allowing full capacity taxies on the road which poses much more threat as well as allowing street vendors to sell food and spread it further. If street vendors can operate they might as well open all the restaurants as well

Leandre Wilson (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#141

If we can maintain social distance I don’t see why we cannot go and exercise or walk or dogs. Sharing a 3x3 would be horrendous and exercising boosts immunity. Sharing a communal toilet with 80-100 others is worse than letting us go for a run!

Janine Doerheit (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#143

Apartment dwellers in a safe area need fresh air & exercise. Stop this insanity that is destroying the lives of the not so privileged.

Claire Brandon (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#146

It's ridiculous to not go for a run with my dog. I respect social distancing. And understand why it's been put in place. My dog is getting over weight and depressed. We need to live! And keep healthy in a time when that's critical. We love our African sunshine and would love to have some on us!! Vitamin D is good for the mind body and soul. Please lift this as we need to walk/ jog and we also need to walk the dog!

Kylie Wilford (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#147

We need exercise to keep fit against the covid - 19. That daily walk is vital.

Rene Tanguy (Kommetjie, 2020-04-05)

#148

I believe walking /running with respectable social distances is vital for mental health

Ferlise Nolan (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#150

We need sensible treatment of virus crisis and not the military or police to become medical enforcers. If military provides facillities for sufferers and sanitation equipment to people that´s ok, but they shouldn´t beat us up because we feel uncomfortable with a non-sensical lockdown!

Ralf G Will (Caper Town, 2020-04-05)

#153

I WANT TO WALK!

Suzi Giliomee (Knysna, 2020-04-05)

#158

I believe many are starting to experience mental health issues, ie. A rise in anxiety and tolerance levels.
I do support that no crowds should gather, and jogging or walking must adhere to all safety regulations. Please allow dogs to be walked too.
Even if this was only permitted for 30 minutes a day, it would make an enormous difference.
My signing of this petition, is in support of daily exercise only, as I feel other issues are too complex for me to comment on.

Angela Rackstraw (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#162

It is inhumane to keep us prisoners in our own home, we do not all have big gardens ! We should be allowed to walk around the block, walk our dog to a tree, get out kid to run after a ball, even if it is for as little as 1 hour/ day. No groups, no communal sports, 1 individual (or 1 adult and 1 child) out is all that is required. Thank you

Murielle Vegezzi (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#167

Being allowed outside to walk will improve our health; our vit d levels which are directly related to our immune systems will benefit as well.

Inge Clark (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

Michele Koch (Guinea Fowl House Bed & Breakfast, 2020-04-05)

I'm signing because I agree that lack of exercise can be as much of a health risk as the virus.

Regardt Kenny (Kommetjie, 2020-04-05)

The lockdown is killing the economy and the people in it more than the virus ever will. Most people get mild symptoms only. Old people can self isolate.

#196

I agree with the above

Carolynn Bruton (Cape Town, 2020-04-05)

#198

It's good for morale, people will keep apart obviously. Herd immunity is the way to go. If young healthy people are allowed to move and work freely they may get Corona but will get over it quickly and become blockers. Protect the vulnerable and enforce people over 60 or people who have one respiratory problems go stay home. High infection amongst the healthy, followed by rapid recovery

Duane Loubser (Johannesburg, 2020-04-05)

#199

What is needed is not social isolation and draconian rules but better health systems to deal with such situations.

Fion Smith (Knysna, 2020-04-05)

#200

The lock down is a farce in rural areas. 9 in a taxi but only 1 family member allowed in a car. What a freaking joke.
