We are all affected my suicide in some way and the plaza is a place we can go and sit and just look at the wall and remember all who have died by suicide and the bench and the tree of hope is beautiful to see as you enter the park all lit up with lights and just to sit and remember everyone who has died by suicide.
Every year in the plaza familys gather to leave off balloons and remember there family member or friends and everyone who has died by suicide, white doves are released too it is just a speical place to be.

This should never be touched by the council how dare them

Margaret Conway Cregan (Limerick, 2020-11-02)

Utterly saddened and upset that they want to take down the mural which has been a great of comfort for many people who have lost loved ones. There is no reason that the mural there couldnt be blended in with the news plans for The Plaza.

Too many people are committing suicide, because of lack of help they need

Lorraine Dobson (Cork, 2020-11-02)

#11

Cork county council members feel it’s not fit to be seen by the public who they represent by the way leave well enough alone and stop tormenting people who have been hit hardest by suicide or attempted suicide

Roger Connolly (Charleville, 2020-11-02)

I'm signing because this would be an absolute disgrace to all involved, and disrespectful to the memory of those lost to suicide. This mural & the trees of hope are a constant reminder to all, that help is out there, for anyone in need. The project has helped to highlight suicide awareness through various activities in the wider surrounding areas as well as Charleville, as too many families have unfortunately been affected by suicide. Great credit is due to them, & they continue to have a huge support & following in the surrounding communities.

Donna Finn (Cork, 2020-11-02)

It’s a beautiful mural why take it away Margaret o Callaghan and others have worked tirelessly on these projects

Kate Hickey (Limerick, 2020-11-02)

I think it should stay where it is because all the hard work and dedication that was put into this is such an amazing and kind gesture to those who lost a loved one to suicide. Leave it there because it is doing no harm to anyone and it is located in a beautiful quiet place. It be such a shame and a disgrace if it is to be moved. There would be no respect for those who lost their lives to suicide and for the families.

Helen Bradley (Dromina, 2020-11-02)

I am signing this because a lot of work and time has been put into this by Margaret. It is a memory to those we have lost so why get rid of something special.

I'm signing because it's a disgrace that the love and care and effort that went into these projects isn't recognized and just pushed aside. The wall and the tree mean so much to many people of the town and helps us to remember our love ones.

This is a very peaceful and beautiful area for people who have sadly lost family or friends to suicide . It means so much to the people of Charleville and would be disrespectful to either move or remove it .

moira macaffer (Lochgilphead, 2020-11-02)

Suicide Awareness & Prevention should be upfront and visable to all. The wall murals should be incorporated with any new changes to the Plaza.

This wall is so important to my home town. It gives hope to the town and is a beautiful way to remember those that are tragically lost in the town. It is disgusting that the county council would even consider removing it

Seán O'Donoghue (Darmstadt, 2020-11-02)

#83

I'm signing this petition because during this pandemic I really think it is essential that this kind of mural should be protected and preserved and left there to give victims and relatives of suicide a semblance of comfort

Shane Fallon (Sligo, 2020-11-02)

#88

This wall represents so many locals who have been effected by suicide in some shape or form. It's disgusting that It's even been thought to remove it. It is not just any piece of art, it represents peoples loved ones that were apart of the very town it is in.

Susan Daly (Mallow, 2020-11-02)

This area in the Plaza and the Tree of Hope are very important to a lot of people in Charleville and surrounding areas. It is a shameful act by the Council to even contemplate erasing the mural and moving the Tree of Hope and the Bench.

Hazel Murphy (Charleville, Co. Cork, 2020-11-02)

#117

I’m signing because I always have a look at the wall whenever I pass by

I’m signing as I think this decision is wrong as this beautiful area in Charleville is very important to so many families. Margaret has done amazing work in suicide awareness and providing a place where families can go to remember their loved ones

I'm signing because this is a beautiful ray of light offering hope to people who may need it and comfort to the many people who have been affected by suicide. Karen Free (Kildare, 2020-11-02)

The wall in the plaza is beautiful and kept spotlessly clean all the time and the bench by the playground is used by lots of people, don't know why they are being removed.

#133

This mural is absolutely beautiful and is always well kept leave it alone

Breeda Buckley (Co Cork, 2020-11-02)

#135

I'm signing this because, this wall memorial, bench and tree of hope, have more meaning to people than you who want to take it away even know about. This brings people a little bit of piece people can go sit down and think of those who they have lost. And very single year everyone gets together on the 10th of September to remember there loved ones who have passed, and every year without fail people show up not just for themselves but for other people. To support one another. I think this is very wrong what ye are doing trying to take this away. Hurting people in ways you will not know!.

I been involved and impacted by suicide so many times .By getting involved with Margaret o Callaghan through her help and support by getting beautiful mural bench and tree of hope set up she has truly saved touched and made many people both young and old .find comfort support by sitting at these locations people see light at end of very dark tunnel and more it gives them a great since of hope of looking forward to their lifes instead of ending them
.pls dont take away what people find a scarced place to find their peace and comfort..

This wall and tree mean alot to so many people in charleville and the surrounding villages. It is an absolute joke that because of a small number of ignorant people the council are even considering getting rid of these.

Joanne Kerins (Charleville, 2020-11-03)
