I am very concerned that this sewerage leak(s) is polluting Homestead Dam, the Blesbok spruit and the Vaal river. This pollution is poisoning the very water that RWB pump out of the Vaal Barrage and supply to us as drinking water.

Robert Forbes (Farrarmere, 2020-09-03)

#16

Council must maintian existing and improve waste water infrastructure that cannot cope with the urban growth. Failure to do so will come at the cost of growth in the area, damage to the environment and unnecessary cost in damage control.

Peter Hamilton (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

#17

Cannot let sewage into the dams, unhealthy for all and killing the birds

Karin Whitburn (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

Water is a scarce resource and the Ekurhuleni Metro has shown over the years that they do not care about our water resources as leaks and pollution is not act upon in a speedily manner.

Melanie Swart (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

#22

I am a resident of Farrarmere and this is honestly disgusting. I hope that the resident of Ekurhuleni & Benoni stand together and refuse to pay tax if the council cannot ensure us that these issues can be resolved as this jeopardizes our health and safety and the values of our properties.

Travis Mason (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

#26

The sewage is a huge health hazard and detrimental to well being of all people near to the water. Especially the people who use the water for recreational purposes.

Extremely concerned about our environment and the safety of users at Homestead Dam.

Marj Bayliss-Lane (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

#36

The sewerage spill is already affecting the safety of the waters in Benoni, if left untreated the problem only gets worse. It already poses a serious health risk to citizens in Benoni, which will overburden the health system. It will also lead to the contamination & infection of waters that supply Gauteng citizens with water which will result in the crippling of the health system. Problems like these cannot be ignored, especially at this time when we are already facing a global epidemic!

Claire Marais (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

#43

Health and safety should be a priority.

William Dearle (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

Emilio Pinto (Springs, 2020-09-03)

#52

It is unacceptable that raw sewage is not managed properly by the municipality and that they allow it to contaminate our beautiful lakes and threaten the health of the rate payers of Benoni.

Jenny Clough (Benoni, 2020-09-03)

#55

It’s an ecological disaster

David de Bod (Boksburg, 2020-09-03)

Dawn Clark (Benoni, 2020-09-04)

Raw sewage in public facilities should never be ignored and people in power should be made to acknlwledge and deal adequately with the problem. Besides, I use the dam for recreation and this is a health threat.

Apart from being unsightly , causing a stench and is a health hazard, the water flows into Blesbokspruit which leads to Marievale Bird Sanctuary which is a RAMSAR site. Please let us show some pride in our beautiful country

Ray Jansen van Rensburg (Benoni, 2020-09-05)

#109

The sewage leak that occurs every year when the rains come from the storm water drainage that runs from Mercury Str into the spruit and into Homestead Dam has been a constant problem for the last 15 YEARS- I report it every year and every year it will be put into the following years budget???? The lack of responsibility and accountability is astounding???

Heather Rademaker (Benoni, 2020-09-05)

Monique Van Staden (Benoni, 2020-09-05)

#121

Our water ways are being davestated due to lack of maintenance and apathy by government for our environment. The eco system will be ruined due to the sewerage running into our dams. This needs to be addressed before the consequences of such an environmental disaster are irreversible.

Ann Bain (Benoni, 2020-09-05)

#127

I am signing because I think this is a travesty that the root cause of this problem is not being resolved. It is high time that a long term resolution is found, it cannot be dealt with by placing a band aid onto the wound.

Deborah Ceaig (Benoni, 2020-09-05)

#128

Because I care about the environment and the health of the people using Homestead dam fie recreational sports.

Lyn Lloyd (Benoni, 2020-09-06)

#129

The current ruling party are to engaged in robbing and stealing any money that are supposed to go towards fixing municipal problems, that everything is going down hill. At current rate we will have nothing but poisoned water, unusable land and rich fat officials.

Johan Grabe (Boksburg, 2020-09-06)

#132

We urgently need to stop sewerage entering our waterway and lakes.
The Scouts organisation holds youth camps on the banks of Homestead Lake on their property (Arrow Park) and apart from these children, one of the Benoni schools also uses the lake for their sports programme. As a long time resident we are also worried about our families and our community.
We congratulate our councillor for persisting with this matter. We hope it is resolved before it becomes a full blown crisis and a and all.

Malcolm Sainsbury (Benoni, 2020-09-06)

The raw sewage flowing into our rivers is posing a serious health risk. It also causes growth of hyacinth polluting our dams. This leads to waste of tax payers money to clean the hyacinth.

Luyken Van niekerk (Centurion, 2020-09-07)
