People are moveing around anyway, in shopping malls and other places. They can keep distance in work palaces. Same as to when thy go shopping. All Governments wake up.Christiaan Pheiffer (Taree, 2020-04-29)

We need to see that it is safe for our children instead of just throwing them into the school system again. They can’t see their grandparents in level 4 but they must go to school and be with people/strangers who may not have been following level 5 restrictions and putting their health at risk.Louise Otto (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

If kids have to go back to school then why cant all the shops ,restaurants and businesses open? First open all those before putting our kids at risk.Patricia Oelofse (East London, 2020-04-29)

I have a ten year old nephew and want to see him still safe and healthy. We as grown ups do understand the devastating results of this Epidemic and what it can do, but they the children DO Not know. Going back to school, yes it will be great for them but unknowingly as children are playing and hugging each other we do not know what can happen as this virus cannot be seen.So I am against the Schools opening whilst this virus is still claiming lives in our Country, no cure yet found.

The virus will be reaching its peak and already adults are failing to social distance. We have more learners than teachers there is no way that our kids can be going back.Vuyelwa Ntanzi (Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

learners are not immune to the virus. And what about those that have underlying medical conditions. No learner must go back to school. Education will always be there but life cannot be replaced.Dudu Sibeko (Middelburg, 2020-04-29)

I am totally against and not happy at all about the decision of the department, the pandemic is on the rise and people are dying. Must we subject our kids to death for the coutry to get a wakeup call. why must we expose our kids to death, I wont allow my kids to be part of statistics.Noluntu Tshiza (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

As a parent I say exsames can be rewritten , But lives cannot be replaced. Our children are our Future. So If schools were the first to close, don’t you think they should be the last to open? Education VS lives - I see a clear winner here!

Karen Kleyn (Oudtshoorn, 2020-04-29)

Sending our children back to school so soon will be a total disaster, we as parents must keep the health and safety of our children first, We cannot put our children at risk , no matter what the government tries to put in place at schools it will not work , children are going to want to have contact with thier friends and that will be hell of a risk as we don't know who has had contact with COVID - 19 during the recent lockdown, or even in the coming days of returning to school, I do not think it would be wise to open schools during the COVID-19 PANDEMIC. I for one will not be sending my children to school.Isabella Jansen van Vuuren (Springs, 2020-04-29)

I am signing because i am against re opening of schools due to this tough times of Covid-19, our recoveries is not even closer to have of the positive cases we have. How will minors adhere and comply while old people are molested evryday for failure to compliance. This is a disgrace and the decision is selfishly to empower the desire for those who are in power. I am against it TotallyTumelo Penyenye (Rustenburg, 2020-04-29)

I can not return to work but my grade 12 daughter with her whole future in front of her can return to school with 40 pupils in a class. It does not make sense. Level 4 still restricts movement? But we are willing to put our children on the front line?Marlene Vermaak (Tzaneen, 2020-04-29)

I value the health and safety of all involved within the Education sector above any other agenda behind opening schools too early! No other country has made such a risky decision! South Africa should only consider opening schools after the winter and on Level 1 only! We will al stand together and work hard to catch up when it is safe to do so!!Lauren Fremouw (Heidelberg, 2020-04-29)

I feel its still too much of a risk and i would rather have my child repeat the year than watch them suffer or have to bury one of themAnastasia van Wyk (Nigel, 2020-04-29)

I do not feel that schools should reopen with the amount of cases. It is not in the best interest of our children to put them out into the world and expose them. Not everyone shows symptoms and screening and taking temperatures is not reliable. Children should stay at home and learn from home! Or atleast be given this option!Desiree Lee Pluke (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

Im signing this because i feel it is way to soon to send the children back to school . This virus is deadly it has no age and it is spreading very fast. Certain companies may not open untill this reaches level 2 so how come children can go back to school, isn't it just as risky for the children as it is for certain companies. I say NO to schools opening.Patricia Wernich (Western Cape, 2020-04-29)

I am a teacher. I feel terrified of going back to school. I work with little children that consistently give me hugs ( in the morning, throughout the day, home time). This is such an emotional/ terrifying time in their lives as well. I am sure they will be looking for the love from their teacher, however how do I stand down their hugs and just love! The social distancing will really not work with the little children we teach.
On the other hand, my classroom is not an appropriate size for social distancing to take place!

I am a special needs teacher, and I have my own 11 month old baby girls at home. I work at a school where physical affection is beyond important to these kids, how can I stand there and reject them? We are risking children's lives for Academics- education can be caught up, no child can be brought back after death. Let's NOT re-open school until cases start slowing down.Natasha Lochner (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)
#149
Because I am a teacher and a parent... and it is not safe for teachers or learners to go back..... until things are more planned and put into place and most certainly not while the risk is still high. People.... my children cannot grow up without a mom... and what are my learners going to do without their teacher if I contract it by any chance at school?I say no... for my children's safety my own children and my grade 2s... and for my own mamma saftey.

I am over 50 years of age and have diabetes 2. My risk of death is increased. My precautions taken can be nullified because the children may bring the disease to me from school. I think the option to return to school is implemented too early. How to enforce social distancing in a full classroom and school and prevent infection in a 7 to 8 hour period is a big issue to meGerhard Van der Berg (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

I'm signing simply because they simply WOULD NOT BE SAFE, and would very easily pick up the virus and easily spread it. A lot of them are certainly not properly taught to understand and be disciplined enough to adhere to the requirements, PLUS there's MANY an overcrowded classroom, making control of the virus VERY much more complicated, so the curve won't be flattened anywhere near fast enough, so we will ALL suffer!Mike Butlion (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

I'm a mother and I don't think it's safe for kids to attend school yet during this pandemic, my child attends a public government school which and over 25 children in the class and they seat close to each other and during their break they'll play around as no one will be looking after them during that break and lunch they'd be sharing food because they're kids and accompany each other to the toilets and school toilets are not clean and we do not know if they'd be provided with new masks and gloves everyday and don't know if the classes will be sanitizedSisanda Makananda (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)
