I’m signing this because it makes sense and because there are people in that community that need to be protected through proactive strategies. Good work on creating this awareness and making others listen, stand-up and make hopefully make sound decisions for your community!!Debbie Haworth (Brisbane, 2020-03-21)

Common sense tells us that restricting the movement of people is the only way to deal with this virus. We are about to enter tourist season which would bring many thousands of people into the areaGlenda Grange (Kununurra, 2020-03-21)

I work in this area, covid 19 would decimate the east kimberley. Keep it out, the only way to protect the communityMonica Chappell (Wyndham, 2020-03-21)

Many Australian citizens are not taking this seriously enough and the government has a massive challenge trying to balance economic concerns against hysteria and saving lives. The short history of this pandemic has proved that taking strong action sooner rather than later will save many lives. We need to show the government that as a region we are prepared to sacrifice the economy to save lives. Locking down the region needs to happen NOW.Stephen Sharpe (Kununurra, 2020-03-21)

We have a large population of vulnerable people and limited medical facilities for such an extensive area. We need to limit exposure to the rest of the country as our first defense. This also includes stopping travel companies promoting their business on the Gibb River facebook page.Jayne Fidock (Kununurra, 2020-03-21)

There is not enough medical services to support our area. No plan to deal with with the high number of deaths. I own 2 retail business and I still think we should lock downKerry Robertson (Kununurra, 2020-03-21)

It all starts from an inbound infection so stop that and we hopefully can stop Covid19 from entering our community otherwise at 5-6% we are going to start losing friends and family which will be devastating in such a small close knit community.wayne paul (kununurra, 2020-03-21)

I have lived in the Kimberley and know a. that the Aboriginal community is very vulnerable and b. the health services will not cope with an outbreak. If only communities are shut such as Warmun and Frog Hollow, infected people can still enter the region via towns and the result for Aboriginal people in those towns is jsut as catastrophic as those in smaller communities. Please make the policy consistent across the population for the safety of all.,Anna Crane (Dungog, 2020-03-21)

Because I fear we do not have the health resources to deal with this virus. We have many people in our community that have other health conditions which will put them at greater risk and I do not want any of them to have to suffer. Please put our shire in lockdown.Lyndal Arthur (Wyndham, 2020-03-21)

the very same vulnerable people that led to the lockdown of communities are the majority population in towns throughout the kimberley. our health services struggle already. yes tourism is going to be massively impacted but surely that is a lower priority than peoples lives.Sharna Mensah (HALLS CREEK, 2020-03-21)

I’m a RN at the hospital and we do not have resources to care for people if this virus effects our town! We need to close ourselves in and respect the isolation rules!Victoria Carr (Kununurra, 2020-03-21)

There are already people coming in from overseas trips who are not self-Isolating because they don’t believe this to be real. Please enforce this, please help our community. We have extremely vulnerable people here and we need protection.Karen Krollig (Kununurra, 2020-03-21)

I know the KNX hospital has such limited resources as it is, WITHOUT COVID19 influx, and I know that there are extremely vulnerable people in the community who will not have any chance surviving the virus, but it will also spread like wildfire once it’s there. How many ICU beds & ventilators does the east Kimberley have? Will southern hospitals be free to take our patients when needed? What aeromedical staff will want to be trapped in a small aircraft with a patient dying from the virus, trying to save their lives while infecting themselves & their families? This can be prevented but only if we act todayCarolyn Burbury (Kununurra, 2020-03-22)

I am worried for our indigenous communities.Caroline Wordley (Kununarra, 2020-03-23)
#108
If it gets here it spells trouble for our indigenous community. Closing remote communities won’t work because some communities are so close to town, people will still come in and out. There is no reason for people to coming to he Kimberley for a while.Monty Mackenzie (Melbourne, 2020-03-23)

It is hard enough getting the message about Corona virus spread into metropolitan centres, let alone communities where language and concepts are different. Health and hygiene in communities is often compromised too.Jan Mackenzie (Eltham, 2020-03-23)
