Daubermann's behaviour is unacceptable.
I would like to never see him in the same room as a woman again.

(johannesburg, 2018-10-18)

#6

Peter Daubermann should be barred from ever practicing law in SA

(Cape Town, 2018-10-18)

#10

I have daughters. How do you encourage victims to help empower you to make them victors. I think she is unbelievably brave.

(Vereeniging, 2018-10-18)

#11

She is a strong independent woman and deserves to be credited as such.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-18)

#12

I stand with Cheryl and I stand against the treatment she is receiving as a witness at a rape trial. The way they are treating her is beyond disgusting and it’s no wonder more victims don’t come forward. We need to change the laws to protect the victims!

(Cape Town, 2018-10-18)

#13

It is unacceptable to treat a rape victim in this despicable manner. She is not on trial!!!

(Capetown, 2018-10-18)

#17

I am also a woman

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-19)

#19

It is absolutely disgusting how this poor woman has been treated. SHE IS THE VICTIM. Show some compassion.
This woman is so brave.

(johannesburg, 2018-10-19)

#20

Im signing because don't support rape,I'm saying NO TO RAPE.This churches must be inspected and Closed. The sad part we don't see the pastor's kids from Nigeria attending this churches. The South African are taken advantage for the love of God and "so called miracles" made by this Pastors.

(Pretoria, 2018-10-19)

#29

If women get treated like this they will never report rape.

(Western cape, 2018-10-21)

#34

It is an absolute disgrace how Cheryl was cross-examined and an even bigger disgrace that the attorney was allowed to continue to do so.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-21)

#35

All Advocates need to attend gender sensitivity training.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-21)

#37

I am signing this because the dignity of sexual violence survivors matters. There is no need and no room for re-traumatisation byaw enforcers and those who work in the justice system.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-21)

#40

He should be disbarred.

(Plettenberg Bay, 2018-10-21)

#41

No rape victim should be questioned and embarrassed the way Cheryl Zondi was. Not only will it discourage rape victims to speak out but it will make a mockery of them.

(Cape Town, 2018-10-21)

#45

I'm signing because our justice system continues to fail victims and potray them like some sort of beasts that go out in the streets seeking to be violated

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-21)

#47

In support of my fellow women

(Durban, 2018-10-21)

#53

Victim blaming, blame shifting & intimidation is EXACTLY why the majority of rapes go unreported in this country. This is unacceptable! The law must support the victims and NOT the criminals.

(Durban, 2018-10-21)

#54

Because i want the perpetrator to be sentenced, and our Justice system to be on the victim's side.

(Midrand, 2018-10-21)

#61

We need to stop secondary trauma and victimisation of rape victims and survivors ...

(Durban, 2018-10-21)

#64

Advocate Peter Daubermann has behaved like a drooling predator while defending a Nigerian rapist who has contributed nothing to South Africa other than exploitation. I'm not sure which of the two is the eviler. I was under the impression that Advocate Peter Daubermann took sexual delight out of intimidating the brave young victim.

(durban, 2018-10-21)

#65

I am shocked by the level of offensive victim shaming the defense attorney is using, making more victims less likely to approach the courts for restitution. The impact not only on Ms Zondi but future potential victims should leave the defence's heads hanging in shame.

(Midrand, 2018-10-21)

#70

This woman is very brave

(Kimberley, 2018-10-21)

#73

The way they cross examine rape victims has to stop. This will scare of others and no one Will want to come forward. It like they are being punished the second time.

(Durban, 2018-10-21)

#74

She deserves justice!

(Birmingham, 2018-10-21)

#76

This trial will stop even more women from reporting.

(Cape town, 2018-10-21)

#79

I believe Cheryl.I want justice for her. She's the brave voice for the voiceless

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-21)

#83

Revictimazation of the rape victim is unlawful

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#84

It terrible to see victims being victimised again.

(Gauteng, 2018-10-22)

#87

The legal system abuses the victims and has failed. Lawyers should be replaced by juror system. Not just rape trials but all types of harassment trials as well...the lawyers get away with murder

(Somerset west, 2018-10-22)

#88

Im signing because i watched this cross examination and was appalled at how she was treated, as if she was on trial!! It definetly will affect people abused coming forward.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#92

Women are re-victimised in court with inappropriate questions and forced to re-live their trauma.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#93

I am a woman and just sick and disgusted about the way women are being treated and abuse. This trial is the absolute reason why women drop the charges...They are literally being 'raped' twice

(Cape Town, 2018-10-22)

#94

A right to a defence should not include a very personal & very insulting attack on Victim. Who is on trial?!

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#95

We are tired of what is happening in our country try. Our govt needs to do what we voted for..that is protection of all citizens.im signing cos I want action around our rape crisis. Do something!

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#97

Justice now for all rape, GBV and sexual harassment survivors. The judicial system must protect survivors at all costs

(East London, 2018-10-22)

#99

Cheryl Zondi has shown great courage and strength of character in testifying despite the trauma she suffered. I felt the cross-examination crossed a line. I wish to show my support for her

(Cape Town, 2018-10-22)

#103

I'm signing because what Cheryl Zondi went through was harrowing to say the least. Another woman, especially a child, should not go through what she went through

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#105

I'm totally against the line of questioning in this case and many more. We do not need deterrents to silence women and children. We want victims to be confident when breaking the silence.

(Durban, 2018-10-22)

#110

Because the way the vitim in this trial was treated is unlawful and disgusting. The lawyer needs to be prosocuted for his actions.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#113

I'm signing because I am against the way Cheryl Zondi was treated in court by Advocate Daubermann.

(Mthatha, 2018-10-22)

#114

The victims are not on trial and should never be treated as though they are. They've been through enough already.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#116

Victims of sexual abuse cannot be traumatized over and over and over and over again by a totally insensitive legal system. It’s ENOUGH. We need to stop this through educating police and everyone in the legal system.

(Jhb, 2018-10-22)

#118

Dauberman is a pig representative of the unethical lawyers out there ... . He is a disgrace to the legal fraternity he should be shunned by all even better he should be disbarred .. I saw the video of Cheryl's testimony ,, she was good and explained herself clearly . In the face of so much evidence Dauberman tried using dirty tricks .He did not win , thats definite .

(CAPE TOWN, 2018-10-22)

#120

Cheryl is not the 1 on trial that frickin pervert is .STOP BELITTLING Cheryl AND LOCK THAT PERVERT AWAY

(Gauteng, 2018-10-22)

#121

It is time that the justice system really was victim centred and it will never be as long as role players, including and especially defense attorneys/lawyer's are held to account

(Cape Town, 2018-10-22)

#126

THE TREATMENT OF WOMEN SEEKING JUSTICE FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IS DEPLORABLE!

(Durban South, 2018-10-22)

#127

I'm signing this because I'm against rape by so called Christian pastors

(Cape Town, 2018-10-22)

#129

I'm signing because men need to know that they cannot do it or get away with it. No means no and I believe you Cheryl

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#131

I’m against the conduct of advocate Peter Dauberman’s cross examination style and insensitivity towards rape victim’ feelings. He needs to be disciplined by law society.

(Port Elizabeth, 2018-10-22)

#135

Feel for Cheryl for all the humiliation she has suffered. My love to her and all the victims that ever endured the same treatment.

(Durban, 2018-10-22)

#137

Violence against women must STOP! The justice system makes it difficult to successfully prosecute offenders

(Nottingham Road, 2018-10-22)

#140

The line of questioning is re-victimising this woman, who has already gone through enough trauma.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#143

I wonder if he would question his own daughter in this manner?

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#144

I am appalled by the way victims of sexual assault are treated .

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-22)

#147

This absolute brutality in our society needs to end!

(Cape town, 2018-10-22)

#148

I'm signing because this sort of victim persecution is unacceptable. Someone of his education level should know better.

(Gallo Manor, 2018-10-22)

#150

The extent of pain that women go through as victims of sexual violence unleashed towards them is of unimaginable proportions. Mostly even the courage to approach the courts is amassed after a very deep reflection which ponders on whether to go bare herself for scrutiny and reliving the pain but it NEVER occurs as a possiblity that she may face a cross examination that is premised on public humiliation, slandering and dehumanizing aspects. When #CherylZondi was asked by the lawyer (Daubermann) to what extent was she penetrated by Omotoso it was NOT just a public rape in the corridors of Justice it was also mockering her and reducing the most tormenting experiences she had had over the duration of her ordeal. Victims can not be subjected to lawyers with no ethical consideration of the matter at hand, despite having the obligation to serve his client the ETHICAL responsibility far surpasses the giving services to an individual .

(Pretoria, 2018-10-22)

#157

I stand against secondary victimisation of rape or any form of GBV survivors.

(Durban, 2018-10-22)

#160

I am signing because I want ethical cross-examination in courtrooms in rape cases and
for Advocate Daubermann to undergo Gender Sensitivity Training.

(Olievenhoutbosch, 2018-10-22)

#163

I am appalled at the manner the defence cross examined as if Cheryl was on trial. She has been violated all over again and this could discourage so many victims of sexual abuse to report cases.

(Cape Town, 2018-10-23)

#165

So many women are scared to report rape and other gender-based violence because of humiliation at the hands of family, police and the brutal public re-traumatising interrogation they face in court!

(Pretoria, 2018-10-23)

#168

I am an Advocate of the High Court. The cross-examination of the complainant bordered on the ridiculous, as did the ‘attack’ on the judge. I discern a hint of racial prejudice - there’s a hint that the judge is not qualifying to adjudicate a case of this nature. Daihetman has not behaved as an officer of the court should have - his conduct is unprofrssoonal and a complaint should be made to the General Bar Council. Unfortunately, the prosecutor was found to be wanting - did not object to some of the questions put to the complainant:

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-23)

#170

Justice must prevail, Omotoso must rot in jail.

(Nelson Mandela Bay, 2018-10-23)

#176

We need to draw a line and make it clear that no one will get away for invading and defilement of others peoples bodies and mind. It is especially vile that women and children are the targets of these ruthless and morally corrupt people

(Cape Town, 2018-10-23)

#179

Adv Daubermann's behaviour has been horrendous and shocking... I wonder if he would have behaved the same way if he was cross-examining Omotsotsi? Daubermann definitely requires Gender and Rape sensitivity training, or he needs to not be allowed to represent any persons involved in rape or gender-sensitive legal cases. I have been horrified at him. If Cheryl Zondi was not as convinced of her rights as she is he would have utterly destroyed her, and saved a gross rapist by default. Shameful! Shameless!. Thank heavens Daubermann is not in my immediate or extended family...

(Somerset West, 2018-10-23)

#182

Justice itself is undermined in a system that allows survivors to be attacked in a court of law in the manner that Daubermann attacked Zondi. The traditional way that rape survivors are discredited by the use of sexist stereotyping in court serves only to defend the patriarchy and is profoundly unethical. It needs to stop.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-23)

#183

All women deserve to be free and to not be abused in any way.

(Polokwane, 2018-10-23)

#185

The foreign pastors should leave us to live happily in our country.

(Fort Beaufort, 2018-10-24)

#186

Yes

(Pretoria, 2018-10-24)

#187

The woman was a victim of sexual abuse and in that courtroom she was a victim of abuse.

(Pretoria north, 2018-10-24)

#188

Unethical questions on rape will not encourage many rape survivors to come forward and report.

(Polokwane, 2018-10-24)

#191

That pathetic advocate should be removed from the legal fraternity with immediate effect - we don’t need such demeaning people representing the law ...

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-24)

#192

Women are continued to be treated unfairly in many rape cases. They are pushed aside by magistrates who view their cases in old school patriarchy: ‘she was asking for it’ among other views. I could write a book but this isn’t the time, just to sign this.

(Cape Town, 2018-10-24)

#193

Although law is being practiced, Daubermann is being very inhumane. He is badgering Ms Zondi

(Soweto, 2018-10-24)

#194

It’s enough!!!

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-24)

#195

I believe in freedom of movement and expression . Women are nor protected enough on South Africa, either by men or the laws. There are a lot of Cheryls in SA who are still afraid to come out.

(Atteridgeville, 2018-10-25)

#196

Because victims should never be put on trial for a crime committed against them!

(Potchefstroom, 2018-10-25)

#197

This poor woman was treated with disrespect after having gone through hell at the hands of a man of God. A Pastor, who insisted that they prayer after the assault for forgiveness for their sins. This man is not a man of God, and should be sent back to the country he originates from, he doesn't belong in our society.

(Cape Town, 2018-10-26)

#198

Survivors of sexual abuse should be treated respectfully and with compassion.

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-26)

#199

The treatment of sexual abuse victims in this country is atrocious!

(Johannesburg, 2018-10-26)

#200

The cross examination amounted to abuse on its own. It was degrading and lacked respect for a fellow human being

(PIETERMARITZBURG, 2018-10-26)
