He should be remembered especially if that was the plan. Not to mention it should be a reminder to EVERYONE to be kind as we never know what someone is going through.

Hope Thompson (Thomasville, 2023-06-02)

He should be recognized!

I believe that this young man should be honored at what would have been his graduation day. He deserves it, his parents deserve it and his classmates deserve it. It would not hurt the school to reserve him a seat and mention him during the graduation ceremony. All who knew and loved him would be so grateful. It would mean so much to them to know he has not been forgotten.

Juliana Dressel (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

The school board and staff need to do better! Give his family and these teenagers the closure they are seeking. Healing comes in all forms and this just may be the healing that’s needed.

Beverly Phillips (Thomasville, 2023-06-02)

It is the right thing to do.

I am a 1978 graduate of Central Davidson High School. I believe any student that has passed from whatever reason, or whatever year, should be recognized when his/her class graduates. Please give this young man some respect. If it were your child, or one of your classmates, you would probably want the same. The class still remembers this young man and he should have some
recognition.
Thank you!

Kim Hester (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#621

I don't think any student shouldn't be recognized no matter what year they passed. This was still his class. Plus don't you think it would mean so much to his parents!

Donna Lynch (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#622

I believe Guy should be included in the ceremony. He should be mentioned. It should be a given and his loved ones should not have to fight or deal with this drama. Why say No before trying our best to be the greatest! Davidson County schools stand out of all others and it is because of our people! Stand up for your students and their family! I stayed in this county because of our school system. I hope this young boy’s family and friends get to hear and honor his name during the 2023 graduation ceremony!

It’s not fair that someone gets to dictate who’s worthy of a memorial and who’s not.

My son attended camp twitch and shout with Guy, a camp for kids with Tourette Syndrome (TS). He was a kind and gentle soul. These children with TS suffer so many hardships, both physical, mental, and social. TS is hard on the mind and body, as well as the family members. Guy's family deserves to see him recognized at graduation. They've lost so much already. ❤️

Danielle Duggar (Spanish Fort, 2023-06-02)

Guy deserves to be recognized. It may be a change from the past but make it good change and something to continue from now on.

Fallyn Wilson (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

I believe he should be honored, regardless of not dying his senior year.

It says a lot about him that his friends are going to this length to get him recognized.

Tiffany Young (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#632

As Central is my Alma Matre, I would hope that they consider doing the right thing and let this young man be mentioned in some way to be a part of his friends day! Don’t be a Groucho CDHS! I would hate for people to stop supporting you.

Scott M (LEXINGTON, 2023-06-02)

I’m signing because it is out of respect to the kid that would be graduating and to the parent of the kid. The principal should be ashamed of themselves for even saying what was said. Maybe the senior class don’t want the new principal speaking at the graduation for not being with them all year! Central Davidson as a whole needs to do better! Middle and High School!

I’m disgusted by the actions of the Central Davidson faculty, and am in fact ashamed to have ever gone to a school that would even consider not including a student in his graduation simply because he’s no longer with us. His sister and his other family members, and the friends he had there (that WILL have their names recognized,) deserve this from Central Davidson.

This kid and all the kids that was gone to soon deserve to be honored just as much as the students and teachers that are still present just because this young boy is gone doesn’t mean he should be forgotten he was bright and funny and smart and kind and any young teenager deserves to be recognized and remembered gone to soon but never forgotten and I think some people forget that saying you will forever be in the hearts of many

Michaela Harvey (Kannapolis, 2023-06-02)

#733

Guy deserves to be recognized with his graduating class, as should all students with a mental illness- whether they are with us or not. This is the least his school can do for his memory and his grieving family.
