Guy H should get to have a seat at the graduation it does not matter when he left this earth and when I was a senior last year at cdhs they let us have one for one of our classmates it should not matter if there is a new principal or that he left his junior year of high school it’s the right thing to do and it needs to happen.

Elisabeth Chandler (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

I personally knew guy as i am best friends with his older sister and I think it is absolutely disgusting the principal won’t recognize him. If Mrs. Fee or was still the principal she would definitely do a better job and be inclusive than the current principal of Central Davidson

Meagan Hefner (Walkertown, 2023-06-02)

I loved Guy Halsey. He was one of my favorite students and it hurts every time I realize he’s gone. I believe he deserves to be remembered by his classmates and his parents should have the chance to see how much this young man was loved.

It is heartbreaking

Hannah Smith (Tritity, 2023-06-02)

All kids deserve to be recognized somehow even if they passed away weather it’s a memorial on graduation day starting a scholarship. You honor a kid who has passed away

Aubrey Wilson (Honey Grove, 2023-06-02)

I’m signing because this is my old high school & it blows my mind they wouldn’t want to include this sweet boy! I’ve seen it done for others so i know it’s possible! it’d honestly lower my respect for the school if they don’t allow some type of acknowledgment for this angel!!

Kayla Skobodzinski (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

I honestly believe it’s the right thing to do and this is the least anyone can do not only for the lost soul but for his family.

Jeffery Holt (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

He should be recognized with his fellow classmates. I bet if he passed away due to a car accident he'd be recognized. Do better Central.

I’m signing this petition because suicide has to be an underlying mental problem. It’s sad that young people or anybody takes their lives. But I believe he and any one else should be recognized no matter if they’re there or they are there in spirit.

Because my school system has forgotten my son . Off all the healing I have gone through, I still have so much hatred for the school system that took my son away from me and now stomp on his memory. Wishing you all the best

I’m signing because I feel that Guy deserves to be recognized at the very least! He was a great person and was kind to me when we first met. He doesn’t deserve to be forgotten like this.

Sarah Miller (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#447

The administrators of CDHS should've done better by making sure this happened to begin with, not letting the family, friends, students and seniors worry about having to jump through hoops to make this happen!!!

Ashley Potts (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#451

That is the right thing to do, for Pete's sake involve this fine young man, do it thinking that it could be your own child

Nancy Widner (Rural Retreat Va, 2023-06-02)

Linda Wood (Thomasville, 2023-06-02)

#460

I’m signing this because Guy (even though I didn’t know him) deserves a seat AND his name announced on graduation day. If this is what his family AND peers want it should be done.

Olivia Dorsey (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#464

Guy mattered.

Amanda Trexler (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#468

I'm signing because it's the right thing to do! This small gesture will help with the grieving and healing process for his friends and classmates. All the kids are asking for is a chair and a name called. That's really not a lot. We need more good and compassion in this world. Show these kids that all hope is not lost in humanity!

Chrysten Muschlitz (Thomasville, 2023-06-02)

#469

What would it hurt.

Tina Everhart (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

As a parent of a current sophomore student and 2 previous students of CDHS, I think every child who has passed during high school years should be remembered during events.

Miller Amber (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#491

They should include him in some way. I went to central Davidson and loved it but now this is crazy

Tabatha Branham (Logan, 2023-06-02)

#493

Why not? If you said you’d include him, Include him. If it were your child, you’d feel the same way.

Brittany Bartlett (Thomasville, 2023-06-02)

#495

I’m signing this because Guy was a great guy. I subbed for his class several times and he was a good person just because he has left this world he still holds a special place in so many people’s hearts. He deserves to be recognized with his class at graduation. Please deeply consider this on behalf of his family and classmates and his past teachers

Glenda Byars (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#499

Everyone deserves to graduate high school. It’s insane to think a child took his own life before he got a chance to really live. It makes me wonder what else was going on for someone to make such a decision, but it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t live in the hearts of every person he’s touched. Not allowing him to be remembered with his class would be a disgrace.

Julia Smith (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#502

Guy should be recognized. Everyone should know that this is what could have been. There are children right thinking they should not be here. What an opportunity to reach others with the message that things do not have to be this way.

Julie Hedrick (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#503

Its the right thing for him to have his name called and something said about him

Chris Evans (High point, 2023-06-02)

Shae Owens (Surfside Beach, 2023-06-02)

#509

I think if the students want him recognized he should be.

Carlann McCrary (Linwood, 2023-06-02)

#510

If it was my classmate or my love one I would want them included! Sad that this school can't see how important this is to their students!

Melissa Wagoner (Denton, 2023-06-02)

#516

I’m signing because my sister also passed from suicide and she was honored! It shouldn’t matter if they pass during their senior year or not… they were apart of the graduating class, they should be seen as such! They mattered and still do. All you are doing by not honoring them is validating the feelings they had before they left this world too soon!

Alexis Farruggia (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

Christopher Norris (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#522

This young man deserves to be recognized at graduation. His parents deserve that. The principal is acting like a real jerk. This outraged me.Everyone should sign this petition just to let this person know how cruel he really is.😡😡🤬🤬

Crystal Pearson (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#525

He should be included.

Amber Crouch (Trinity, 2023-06-02)

#526

This is not right. The seniors want him recognized. It is their day, let them remember him. Back in 1985 when I graduated, the school presented a boy that died in my class with a diploma and a yearbook. The yearbook by the way had a whole page in his memory.

Amelia Harris (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

Kimberly Cameron (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

As a graduate of Central Davidson I can’t believe they would say no to this. I’m signing because it’s the right thing to do. Just because this young man isn’t with us anymore it doesn’t mean that he didn’t make an impact in the community. Do better Central Davidson

Jonathan Ball (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#538

I want guy included in graduation!

Jada Garren (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

#542

The senior class is desperately trying to have their peer recognized, and the fact that they’re asking for essentially the bare minimum and being denied that is disgusting. No one would be offended that a child’s life is being recognized among his peers, so it’s just a scapegoat for the principal to deny accountability.

Scarlett Williams (Everett, 2023-06-02)

#543

Let this child’s family have this!

Denese Gardner (Lexington, 2023-06-02)

Guy is my cousin. This is really affecting his sister who among many other health issues is suffert with depression and this is exacerbating the issue.
