Preserve NYC Employees' (Active & Retired) Healthcare

Some companies and municipalities self-administer supplemental payments. Using for-profit insurance is more costly and union officials on their boards smack of corruption. A fish rots from the head. It's on you, Mr. Mayor.

worked all my life to get my TRADITIONAL Medicare. No one has the right to take it away or replace with with a lesser Medicare Advantage.
Keep what was promised.

I am signing because I do not want nor deserve an erosion of healthcare benefits. I was a public servant for 34 years, could have been in private industry for much more money, but wanted to impact my city in a positive way. I expect to be treated fairly and with respect during my retirement years.

My husband is a retiree, Tier One, and we have always enjoyed the privilege of Medicare and GHI. I personally had worked with insurance companies for 33 years and authorizations, copays and non-participating providers was a nightmare. Do not do this to NY city retirement system. Work as hard for
them as they did for you

Kathleen Nessler (Wantagh, 2022-03-17)

I want to keep my original Medicare, as promised by the City of New York. We are approaching our golden years and now it is more important than ever!

As a retiree, The MLC has no authority to negotiate away benefits i earned. There is NO benefit to me as retiree from the deal the unions made, active workers got a raise on my retiree benefits being traded away!!

I am signing this petition because MAP is grossly unfair.

I'm signing because somehow city leadership ( mayor, etc al), and Union leadership UFT believe that "cheaper health care can be better"...just not TRUE! Why are so many doctors unwilling to participate? If I lose my doctor of choice, how is that better for me?@#!!!

Instead of giving benefits to illegals, first in line should be those who EARNED BENEFITS BY SERVING!

Please wake up governmental and union representatives....remember, you are elected!

I’m signing because i believe that all of us need quality medical care, especially as we age. The Medicare plan proposed by the city would not be sufficient to meet retirees needs, and the alternative of paying $191 to keep our current plan would be a hardship. On a personal note, my elderly parents, (especially when they were in their 90’s), had an HMO, which was sufficient for everyday needs, but as they aged they couldn’t get what was needed. I was their advocate, but as time passed I learned that the only way for them to receive services was to call an ambulance so they could get what they needed in a hospital. I don’t believe this is a cost effective method, but sometimes that’s all there was.
Thank you,
Rodelle Kaufman

I worked all my life paying bills, copayments, deductibles...now, when retired, can we enjoy our left life without worrying about ad-hoc changes in our healthcare? Thank you so much

I’m signing because it’s unfair that I fulfilled my obligation and worked my career with the understanding that I would have the benefits package that I have and I do not understand how at this point after I fulfilled my obligation the city can change their obligation

I don’t want to lose my right to pick my Dr.s and feel I wasted the right to keep my current insurance. We accept smaller salaries than private sector with the promise we will have the right to our insurance plan for life.

I worked for the City for the benefits and now they are trying to make me pay for them. I can't afford to live now. I can't afford my insulin, so I don't take what is prescribed. I can't be on a plan where I have to wait for approval when my eyes are bleeding due to uncontrolled diabetes. If I am forced to pay for my coverage, the City will be getting more than 75% of my pension check. What will be left for me?

I have worked for 21 year at a lower rate than I should of been paid because I had My medical benefits & knowing I kept it after I retired.. If I would of known this would of happened that the City wants to through their workers to the curb, I would of had worked elsewhere even though I loved my job at the DOE district 75..

Janet Sedita (Boynton Beach, 2022-03-17)

Contractually NYC promised employees their choice of health care while working and under retirement. Employees accepted lower pay throughout their careers for this assurance of insurance into retirement. At the bare minimum retirees should be grandfathered into their choice of plans. And if the city wanted this new MAP plan for current employees then give them that option as well as the option to get a different job that would give them what they need in their retirement years.

Pay raises for some unions were funded by reductions on retirees health plans. The new plan will not offer the same services in the same manner that retirees received upon their retirement.

I am signing because I do not approve of changing or gutting the current medical insurance plan for retirees. The proposed changes Are unfair and a poor option that intends to strip coverage to the barest minimum and make services harder to get . Stop this now . Thank you

It is grossly unfair for the City of NY to pursue an appeal when Judge Frank decided for the retirees. This would be a waste of NYC money and resources that may be better spent elsewhere and not wasted.
