I would like Zambians to keep growing our indigenous seeds for various crops. Any bill that threatens our ability to grow our seeds is not welcome. Multinationals are welcome to keep selling their seeds, but they should not monopolize the market with seeds that are not recyclable.

DARLINGTON KAPIYA (KITWE, 2024-05-17)

#221

Seeds are God given and must remain so. No corporation, Government or Individuals have any rights to withhold seed management and development.

Dathany Chongo (Ndola, 2024-05-17)

#226

We need to preserve our local seed varieties

Thabo Munyeme (LUSAKA, 2024-05-17)

#230

Let the hybrid plant breeders stay away from destroying our rights to save seeds for replanting. These Western countries just never cease to want to colonize and monopolize what they find indignant people practice from generation to generation. Hands off our heritage natural seeds and away with your non reproductive but expensive for nothing seeds. We are watching you!

Ben Matanda (Lusaka, 2024-05-17)

#236

I support local seed.

Sarah Salome Phiri (Lusaka, 2024-05-17)

#237

This bill stands to benefit breeders, commercial seed companies and disadvantage farmers. We need a bill that benefits all the players.

Branell Banda (Lusaka, 2024-05-17)

#239

The is only right for our farmers to decide themselves on the seed to use and this shouldn't be governed by law

Gostaviour Tembo (Kabwe, 2024-05-17)

#243

Food is one of the biggest issues leading to national instability when lacking.

Ilunga Mutwale (Lusaka, 2024-05-17)

#244

I believe in the farming methodologies our grandparents used and preserved seed.
We never went hungry then because every household grew enough food to share with others.
I speak for my village people back home

We need to continue with our usual see practice.

Stephen Muongo (chingola, 2024-05-18)

#255

I feel this bill has the potential to negatively impact rural livelihoods and food production for our country. It will need further revision.

Seb Scott (Kafue, 2024-05-18)

Klemens Siamukwele (Lusaka, 2024-05-18)

Because I believe local seed is benefit for the growth of our country and we should not be restricted on it

Chibingila Kaira (Lusaka, 2024-05-18)

#279

I desire the perpetuity of many of our heritage seeds. I desire that sharing of seeds continues as this lowers costs of production in farming.

Mweemba Simpande (Kalulushi, 2024-05-18)

#280

I am signing because I put the interest of Zambians at first priority.

Moses Chanda (Masaiti, 2024-05-18)

#284

Iam signing because the bill is an infringement of human rights. It's also a violation of the Zambian constitution. If enacted into law the bill will be illegal for being in contravention of the constitution. The bill is obviously promoting the big seed companies agenda & will make our local seeds go into extinction.
Let's not create an environment were foreign businesses will tell us how we us a country should make our laws. Let's protect & defend one another. We only have one Zambia. Remember a Zambian business man can never be allowed to influence a foreign country on what kind of laws to make.

Priscilla Lishoweli (Lusaka, 2024-05-18)

#285

Our organic seeds (local) must be preserved and protected .

Cephas Stainslous Musonda (Lusaka, 2024-05-18)

Priscah Namate Lishoweli (Serenje, 2024-05-18)

#291

The law is a violation of human rights!

Limpo Munjita (Lusaka, 2024-05-18)

#296

To protect local and indigenous traditional seeds used by small scale farmers

Norah Chisha (Mpika, 2024-05-19)

#306

I'm signing because we need to be responsible citizens and have foresight. The cost of food will increase because we will depend on foreign seed. Monsanto, seedco etc are modern day colonialists. Zambians are more intelligent than this and cannot stand idle as the future of our country is being destroyed in front of our very eyes.

Oliver Musinga (Kafue Gorge, 2024-05-19)

#307

I have the right to choose what seed to plant.

Dorica Banda (Lusaka, 2024-05-19)

#308

I cannot give my power to produce food to someone else. He that controls the seed controls life it self. I refuse be enslaved

Paul Mutale (Ndola, 2024-05-19)

#312

I don't think the intentions behind the amendments to existing plant breeder's rights are justified.

Charles Chewe (Ndola, 2024-05-19)

#319

I totally oppose the new proposed changes.

Mukomi Muunyu (Lusaka, 2024-05-19)

#327

Zambia should not be colonised again using the breeder's right bill of Zambia.

Jackson NJobvu (Mwansabombwe, 2024-05-19)

#328

Need to protect indigenous varieties and and have food security

Liywalii Liywalii (Nyimba, 2024-05-19)

#330

We need to keep our heritage

Lumbwe Muyembe (Ndola, 2024-05-19)

#332

Taking away the freedom currently enjoyed by farmers to freely store and reuse seeds will impact heavily on their food security. Over 60 percent of Zambians are in the poverty bracket and heavily depend on subsistence farming for their livelihood. Anything that negatively impact on their ability to actively produce using their local resources should not be supported or encouraged.

Allan Hagwelele (Choma, 2024-05-19)

#333

The bill is very bad and not beneficial to farmers. It will replace our local culture seed sovereignty.

Mwandu Walubita (Lusaka, 2024-05-19)

#335

I'm signing because our seed varieties we use in farming they need to be protected in our national interest and not in foreign interest.

Andrew Mambwe (Luanshya, 2024-05-19)

#337

I am signing this petition as a Zambian farmer and i believe as a people we should move to join UPOV and that the curtailing of farmers’ seed practices that are key to national food and nutrition security and food sovereignty should be commercialised

Sophia Banda (Ndola, 2024-05-19)

#342

I'm signing because if the seed providers are honest and beneficial, we do not need a bill to protect them. We will go to them for our own needs. But of they are not honest or beneficial in the short term or long term then we should have the freedom to fall back on our own local seeds and our traditional ways.

My uncle never used to eat anything GMO or even hybrid. He sought our own indiginus produce even though it looked smaller than the hybrids.

He lived a healthy life with no complications

M D (Lusaka, 2024-05-20)

#363

I'm signing because I grew up with organic food from indigenous seed which our grandparents preserved without any chemicals.

Munkombwe Nshome (Choma, 2024-05-21)

#367

The proposed Plant Breeders' Rights Bill is retrogressive our country and highly suspicious!

Sandy Sindazi (LUSAKA, 2024-05-21)

#369

I believe in this cause!

Candy Morrell (Lusaka, 2024-05-21)

#371

Zambia is in Southern Africa like Zimbabwe and it is one of our neighbouring countries. Such a policy will affect Zimbabweans as well as our Farmers do share seeds.

Seed is one of the most important means of production and as Africans we need to protect oursleves frm this being stolen frm us throu international conventions.

When farmers are keeping and sharing their seed, they are able to produce Food for themslevs and the rest of the Nation thus we maintain control.over our own Food systems and sovereignity as Africans.

Bertha Nherera (Harare, 2024-05-21)

#377

I do not like that bill as it will curtail my right to propagate local seed varieties

Mukaba Mulai (Lusaka, 2024-05-21)

#380

I’m signing this petition to protect and prevent total damage and violation to our food and seed sovereignty.

Chilekwa Kangwa (Mpika, 2024-05-22)

#381

Truly organic food is indigenous to the land & the decline in indigenous seed availability is harmful to a nations people.
On an economic & health level.x

Antoinette Shawa (Lusaka, 2024-05-22)

#384

This is a bad decision that will affect small scale farmers the most in Zambia and will hamper the progression in farming in this country and force farmers to expensively increase their crops purchasing Buget as they won’t be able to rely on regular seed production but will have to rely on genetically engineered seeds!

Rika Wilson (Lusaka, 2024-05-22)

#386

I am signing because I want to protect our peasant farmers.

Fr Benard Kaluba Zulu (Chipata, 2024-05-22)

#387

I'm signing because having read the proposed bill, it is clear that it will greatly damage our food security and make us even more dependant on the Western World. It's also clear that it being a EU indirect sponsored Bill, it has everything and I verily believe so, that it is another way of ensuring that those who are nuetral in the Russia and Ukraine conflict can easily be delt with by restricting seed in their countries. This Bill means evil to our country and should never be enacted.

David Simusamba (Lusaka, 2024-05-22)

#388

Signing to reject the proposed bill
