Because it’s the right thing to do.

Molly Ogden (Canfield, 2023-05-28)

I feel he should be honored has they said he would be he deserves to be. Please do the right thing Central Davidson High School Administration and do what is right.

Jennifer Ange (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

Dallas Hedrick (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#217

I’m sickened the school isn’t allowing his seat at would have been his graduation. His parents should also be welcomed to attend!

Holly Bartrug (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#218

Guy meant so much to me and deserves the honor of a graduation recognition right alongside all of us
LLG❤️

Faith Hendricks (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#220

He needs to be recognized. Show compassion for the family, he would have graduated so let’s make this happen!!!

Debbie Allen (Gold Hill, 2023-05-28)

#221

I'm signing because I believe that everyone should be included in their high school graduation no matter who they are. Its something that only happens to someone once in their life and it is a very important milestone that should be celebrated.

Tequila Burrow (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#223

I am signing because Guy was a good kid who had it rough and needs to be recognize for who he was to so many.

Meshell Liette (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#224

My husband suffered from me tal illness and lost his life to suicide on 2010. He mattered just like this baby did. Mental illness is no different than any other illness. I pray the school does the right thing and honors this young man!

Samantha Gwyn (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#225

This is not right for his memory or for his parents & loved ones.

Maddison Everhart (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#229

My children and nephew go to CENTRAL DAVIDSON HIGH SCHOOL and we all agree that Guy Halsey should be recognised as a graduate of 2023. Give a bit of closure to his friends, family, and his teachers. If it were my child I'd want the same and so would other parents, including those of the school board.

Crystal Pope (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#230

I’m signing because this young man deserves to be recognized. No I do not know him or his family but a promise is a promise. It’s not gonna hurt one bit to place an extra chair with his name & pic, then call his name at the end with a little tribute to him.

Angela Hayes (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#234

Im signing this because Guy deserves a seat at graduation. I was in guy’s homeroom every year except for this last one. I miss seeing him every Friday. Our whole class believes he should have a chair.

Karlie Hamilton (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#235

Guy was an amazing man who truly deserves to be apart of graduation one way or another. His life deserves to be celebrated at graduation.
We miss you Guy 🤍

Autumn Nelson (Germanton, 2023-05-28)

#236

Guy Halsey is part of the senior class. What happen was extremely unfortunate but it shouldn’t mean he is excluded from our graduation. He worked hard and deserves a seat as much as the rest of us.

Dixie Saunders (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#239

I feel this will help parents and friends with closure to such a painful situation.

Paula Walsh (Mocksville, 2023-05-28)

#241

No family should have to loose a child ever and if this brings healing to them and other students, then why not allow it for them. We are past church family and believe it would honor this family to have their son recognized at his intended graduation ceremony.

Brandi Baker (Winston Salem, 2023-05-28)

#242

Guy was such an amazing young man. His life should be acknowledged, and Jennifer and Maddie, along with Guy's friends, should get to honor him and what would have been his graduation.

Shannon Baribeau (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#243

For decency and for the memory of those who are gone too soon.

Zachary Smith (Roanoke, 2023-05-28)

#244

It cost nothing to celebrate the life of this beautiful man. If I were a classmate or a friend, this would mean the world to me. Celebrations without a recognition of our loved ones just adds sadness to a otherwise beautiful day.

Cynthia Seawell (Pfafftown, 2023-05-28)

#245

Guy should be honored and have a spot at graduation no matter the timing of his passing. It’s disgusting to think we were told there would be one now there’s not.

Brandy Benner (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#248

Guy and his family deserve to be recognized during his senior year. He was a part of that community and should always be remembered as such.

Stephanie ziegelmeyer (Independence, 2023-05-28)

#250

Guy deserves to be acknowledged at what would have been his graduation ceremony. In my graduating class I too lost a classmate and at our graduation ceremony we all stood for a MOMENT of silence while balloons were released. It cost Central Davidson High School NOTHING but a MOMENT of time to honor one of their students. Guy left this world to soon and I believe that's tragic enough for his family than to add to their pain! Do the right thing and honor this young man!!

Jennifer Coltrane (Archdale, 2023-05-28)

#251

Guy needs remembering

sam halsey (high point,n.c., 2023-05-28)

#252

This isn't fair or right by any means..every time I've seen situation like this the child always was included in memory

Rhonda Russell (Thomasville, 2023-05-28)

#254

Every student lost should be recognized. Just because they've done it differently in the past doesn't mean you can't change it.

Ashley Burnett (Thomasville, 2023-05-28)

#255

He deserves to be recognized just as well as everyone else!

Jasmin Jensen (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#259

It’s completely wrong with what they did

Tonya Myers (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#260

I graduated as class of 2017 from central Davidson and we had chairs for students who had passed away set out and the class of 2016 set out a chair for a student who had passed away when they were only in 6th grade. It is a tradition that we honor and the new principal needs to get over it. V Feez would have never

Deana Jester (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#261

He deserves to be recognized!

Allie Newsome (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#262

His life mattered and we the family were promised he would be recognized.

Maddie Halsey (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#264

I believe considering the circumstances it's a small thing to ask to allow this young man's name to be mentioned, he put in the work and should at the very least as a memorial to him and for the sake of his family have his name read with the rest of his classmates, and for hard work he done leading up to his passing, so for the sake of our community and his family please do this for all so that some can find some peace in this troubling time, Blessings.

David Neblett (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#269

If this ever happened to my child I would want them recognized. Not only that but it also gives you thr chance to remind ant of those seniors if they ever need us to reach out we will be there! It doesn't have to end this way for them!

Danielle Lester (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#270

He may not be alive but his spirit is still alive

Lexi De Jong (Omaha, 2023-05-28)

I went the central and when we had the unfortunate death of 2 students both of them was recognized

Brenda Robbins (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#282

My senior class had a student pass away our sophomore year and he was still honored at our graduation ceremony in 2007! It’s the only right thing to do and it allows the seniors to have closure by honoring them.

Alishia Green (Lexington, 2023-05-28)

#297

Zack is a classmate of mine and he has always been a wonderful friend to me! I’ve never met his cousin but I can’t imagine he would be any different from Zack ❤️

Rachel Shelor (Blacksburg, 2023-05-29)

#299

I think this young man should be recognized especially if his family was told that he would be. It is not their fault that he is not here to walk across that stage to get that diploma. I have seen many schools do this and it left huge wonderful perspective on those students lives. A friend of mine passed away while in middle school and when we graduated his family got his diploma from CDMS. I honestly want to say his name was even remembered on graduation day.

Chastity Handy (Lexington, 2023-05-29)

#317

Because I lost my brother to suicide. It’s very hard on the family.

LeAnn Scales (Columbus, 2023-05-29)

#318

Though this child suffered demons doesn’t mean he should be forgotten and left out. Friends and families loved this kid and students. I went to central and it saddens me that my school is being like this! If this students are wanting this as well as the family then it should happen!

Kimberly Rhodes (Shallotte, 2023-05-29)

#320

Guy deserves to be remembered and honored alongside his classmates at graduation. Don’t be stupid!!

Mae McCready (Charlotte, 2023-05-29)

#326

Just because someone is gone shouldn’t mean we should forget about them

Brittany Drake (Linwood, 2023-05-29)

#332

Guy was a very good friend of mine. I grew up with him since elementary school. This poor boy felt so cornered in life that he didn’t want to be here any longer. We all love Guy, we need him to know how much we love him and that he will never be forgotten. Guy deserves to have a place in this ceremony more than anyone in the school!

Madison Britt (Lexington, 2023-05-29)

#333

Guy should be acknowledged at graduation.

Mary Hines (Winston Salem, 2023-05-29)

#336

Even though he's no longer here he should be acknowledged as a Central Davidson High School graduate. He put in the hard work to get there. His family deserves to have the diploma to remember him & all of his hard work.

Tiffany McCrary (Lexington, 2023-05-29)

#338

He should be recognized and his family should be invited

April Freeman (Lexington, 2023-05-29)

#340

He was part of the schools class he should be able to be atleast an honorary graduate. For the sake of family and friends. So some type of sympathy.

Randy Osborne (Marion, 2023-05-29)

#341

Holly Gilbert (Greensboro, 2023-05-30)

#345

I knew Guy and never want him to be forgotten. If this brings his mother one moment of joy or peace why wouldn’t you include him?

Cynthia Haynie (Salisbury, 2023-05-30)

#346

My graduating class similarly lost someone way too early and the heart break that it brought upon us was massive. There is no reason that Guy’s passing should be undermined and looked over at HIS graduation. It disgust me that the school has any second thought upon doing this and that this petition even has to exist.

Bryce Stiltner (Lexington, 2023-05-30)

#348

I lost my significant other in a tragic car accident when ours kids were in middle school. My daughters now both graduated both spoke of their father and his passing in their farewell speech during the grad ceremony and our high school has always taken a moment of silence during the ceremony to honor those that have passed on.

Larissa Loew (Boyd, 2023-05-30)

#350

I am signing because he was a classmate and I feel this just wrong for Central to take this from his classmates and family.

cynthia Bright (Lexington, 2023-05-30)

#352

Guy deserves to be recognized and his family deserves this honor for him

Marcia Devenitch (East Longmeadow, 2023-05-30)

Guy should be included in the graduation ceremony. He was an important part of the graduating class and it would mean a lot to his friends and family.

Kimberly Cook (High Point, 2023-05-30)

#354

This young man was in our Church Youth group. He was always polite, kind and had a love for Jesus!

Alexis Crotts (Lexington, 2023-05-30)

#363

He didn't deserve the constant bullying and everything awful that happened to him. He deserves to participate in his graduation because it would've been his year to say he finally did it. He didn't get that opportunity because so many people pushed him to his edge and I understand how that feels to be bullied so badly to the point you don't want to be here anymore. What happened to him was beyond horrible and he should at least be able to be in his graduation and have a small speech dedicated to him.

Madison Bright (Lexington, 2023-05-30)

#368

Guy was a very friendly and encouraging young man that needs to be acknowledged. Others before was honored, do the right thing and honor this young man. Think about what you would want if the situation was yours. Thank you.

Kayla Phillips (Thomasville, 2023-05-30)

I'm a graduate of Central Davidson, and I had a guy pass away in our graduation class. We got to honor him on graduation day and on our class shirts... It only seems fair that this happens with his family and classmates.

I support

Brynn Howe (Cleveland, 2023-05-31)

#384

because even though he is no longer with us, he was apart of the class of 2023 and should be recognized. He was part of the central family, and it’s a disservice to him and his family to not be included.

Alyssa Taylor (Lexington, 2023-05-31)

#386

A former student has tourette’s. She suffered from Tourettes and students at school not understanding. She is a strong person but some are warn down. No one asked for this.

Stormy Grant (Lexington, 2023-06-01)

#399

I knew Guy when I still attended public school and he was such a sweet person. I only got to know him for a few years but he was the kind of person that is very memorable. It would be a really horrible thing for him to be left out of the graduation ceremony. He deserves to be recognized the same way any other CDHS student that passed away before their graduation were recognized. I really hope that the school realizes how many people he made a positive impact on and how many of his classmates cared about him.

Emilee Pritt (Lexington, 2023-06-01)
