I’m signing because I believe that it is an essential service due to the negative effect the lockdown has taken on pets and owners. I also believe that the industry can operate safely and risk free.

This service should be regarded as essential for the wellbeing of the patients.

Ben Pretorius (Pretoria, 2020-05-24)

I'm signing because small businesses does not have nest eggs. In dog training we always practice social distancing as you do not want your dog to be right next to another. We need to give each other space

In crisis times we often forget about the welfare of our pets that stand by our side no matter what. Their welfare is just as important and does not onlyninclude food and shelter but also training on how to behave in our human world and professional advice and support is crucial for this. Qualified trainers and behaviourists look after the well being of pet animals so that the safety and welfare of both human and pet is taken care of

Went through 6 week course of puppy training, now on clicker training... then lockdown... when we were allowed out between 6-9 my dog has forgotten how to socialise. We need our trainers urgently

The timing of training and socialisation are critical to the development of properly trained and socialised animals which can lead to problems later. Please let the behaviourists work, they offer an essential servicel.

Firstly people who work need to have a place to leave their dogs.
Dog training classes are small and social distancing can easily be maintained.
People in need of therapy dogs still need them while in lockdown

#265

I'm a Veterinarian and in my profession opinion this is a incredible important and much needed service especially in these trying times that have caused so much mental and psychological trauma to both owners and pets. Lock down has been extremely challenging to pets who cannot comprehend the natural required exerscise and lack of socialisation they have been deprived off. This leading to much in the line of aggressive or fearful behaviour.

Georgina du Plessis (Cape Town, 2020-05-24)

Thea-lee Stoltz (Rustenburg, 2020-05-24)

#287

I believe that dog training is by nature a separate class, one needs distance between people and dogs and it takes place outdoors. It is necessary for both dogs and owners.

Karen Poltera (Hilton, 2020-05-24)

#292

Dogs is essential!!!!!

Janeke Van Huyssteen (Pretoria, 2020-05-24)

#296

I believe that not only is this necessary, but I know that social distancing will be adhered to as having a pet on leash does not allow close interaction.

Thiago De Oliveira (Alberton, 2020-05-24)

#327

I'm signing because animals are in need of care, therapy, training and socializing.

All of this can be done with precautions in place to prevent the spread of Covid_19. Outdoors, disinfectant hands and equipment, continue with social distancing. Only owners need to be close to dogs... Not each other.

Natasha Roderick (Rosetta, 2020-05-24)

#329

Animal behaviourists have a crucial role to play in the holistic care of pets' health. Puppies need urgent socialisation in the 1st 4 months to prevent future behavioural issues so puppy trainers need to be allowed to organise socialising classes for this purpose.

Rose Humphreys (Somerset West, 2020-05-24)

#330

I'm signing because I fully believe in the healing power that animal companions can have on the soul.

Byron Van Niekerk (Port Shepstone, 2020-05-24)

Celia McCulla (Sandton, 2020-05-25)

#381

I agree with the facts

Gary Nel (Durban, 2020-05-25)

#384

Animal behavior and training, in my opinion, should be just as important as our mental health. There is no difference at all. And the professionals dealing with animal health need income to be able to provide for their families as well. Please allow the professionals to do their job!

Rene van der Watt (Bloemfontein, 2020-05-25)

#387

In my understanding, "welfare"includes mental well being. Dog groomers are allowed to practice because it is for the "welfare"of the animal. IMO dogs that are used to be trained and attend mentally stimulating and challenging classes are being discriminated against. They are displaying displaced aggression, despondency, hyperactivity, frustration, and need to go back to class.

Maxine Quinton (Kempton Park, 2020-05-25)

#388

I believe in the work that they do.

Claire Voges (Cape Town, 2020-05-25)

#391

Domestic animals are battling with the change in their routine, not being able to get out to go training and see the world, other dogs and people. Their frustration causes huge problems at home. Especially with young dogs, it is going to cause problems when they eventually get to see the world, fear, aggression to name just a few. They need more balance in their lives and owners need help in creating that balance. Dog training by its very nature creates physical distance. Dog owners need help!

Shirley Heard (East London, 2020-05-25)

#393

Animal behaviour therapy and training are not MOST DEFINITELY ESSENTIAL.
Preventing them from doing their skills has extremely detrimental and UNNECESSARY consequences.

Diana Swart (Gauteng, 2020-05-25)

#394

My puppy was unable to complete puppy socializing and introductory training. He will be a large dog - already over 20kg - I urgently need support in training him correctly so that he, we and people we meet while walking all have an enjoyable experience.
