PETITION
in accordance with Art. 18 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms and the Act no. 85/1990 Coll. on the right of petition
Save the International Sculpture Park in Prostejov City !!!
We object to the decision no. 5520 dated 26. 5. 2015 published by the Council of Prostejov City on the removal, sale and liquidation of sculptures from the Smetana Park, as listed on the city's website.
We object to the uncivilized way, removal, sale or liquidation of the 33 pieces of wooden sculptures created during international sculpture symposia “Hana Wichterlová” in Prostejov City. The sculptures were donated to the city by prominent Czech and international sculptors and since became a permanent part of the international sculpture park. Their artistic value is estimated to be 10 million CZK.
We object to the dissipation of sculptures and other city properties by officials of Prostejov City. The worldwide regconition of Prostejov sculpture symposia, which peaks Czech standards, manifests much higher level of respect deemed appropriate to the sculptures created by internationally renown sculptors.
We urge that all artworks created for the symposia to be promptly returned to their original place in the Smetana Park with proper treatment and restoration.
International sculpture park in Prostejov City is a cultural heritage of international significance.
