Horrified the US coastguard gave up so soon. Absolutely wrong no matter the cost.

I don't like that they have given up searching even though the evidence points to them still being alive. I am upset that it's come to a petition to get people to do there job properly.

Please, please, please - resume the search for the sake of all the families and friends of these sailors.

Only two days of searching is not enough, get those planes up again.

If the men had been American I am sure the search would have gone on much longer.

I believe this search has ended too early and that the British navy /air force could help.

This search must be extended - I have known of rescues in the North Atlantic after 8 days - when the life boat was nothing like as sophisticated as the modern ones- please please do not give up.

I appreciate the professionalism of the US coastguard and the difficult weather conditions but with the right equipment and skill, which this group have, this situation is survivable. Every effort should be made to rescue this crew in these circumstances.

There is no way the Coastguard should have given up on them so quickly. It is clear that the ingress of water would have been coming in via the flange on the keel, which somehow came away from the boat (clearly visible from the photos taken by the Maersk container ship), causing it to capsize. However, they gave plenty of warning to the coastguard of their taking water on board, so they also had time to prepare for their evacuation, in spite of the conditions prevailing as the time, it will have been possible for them to access the 12 man liferaft. Please keep looking - June Hamilton, Yachting Journalists' Association.

It is my view, that it is absolutely imperative to resume the search for these yatchmen , immediately!
What a sad indictment of human beings, if we have to rely on social media, to put pressure on people to do the right thing!!!!!!

People have survived many more days than this - keep looking.

I believe that Search and Rescue is a mission critical role for the USCG. If we expect similar aid from other nations the USA must take responsibility to these sailors seriously.
Please continue the search for these missing sailors.

I cannot believe that these guys are not either in the liferaft or in the upturned hull. It would be ciminal to waste any more precious time and not conduct a further air search. Shame on you, US Coastguard!

I wonder if some US sailors were in trouble - would the US Coastguard just have given up then? And how rigorously would the US expect us to search if their nationals had got into trouble in the eastern Altlantic?

The US Coast Guard should be ashamed of themselves for giving up so soon. Wouldn't they want our RNLI searching for longer if it was the other way around?

Can't we send an RAF plane to Bermuda so they can search from there?

It is dreadful that they are thinking of calling off this search. They could still be alive - keep looking for them.
