Brilliant news that tail docking and dew claw removal will be effectively banned. One more step towards comprehensive animal welfare legislation and higher standards in how animals are treated here in Ireland. Well done to those who have worked so hard to make this happen.

Thank god - our politiicians do not inspire confidence in me but this is one time when a Minister had done the right thing. Elated! And looking forward to seeing JRTs, Boxers, Weimaraners, Dobermans, Rottweillers and Spaniels with full tails and expressing themselves naturally to us all :D

Is there any chance that the effort and energy of so many people who achieved this ban, could direct their attention to the cause of trapping/netting and using as lures live hares for the purposes of greyhound coursing?
