its not as if the tiger knows that its wrong to attack humans ,and was the zookeeper double checking the cage before stepping in to clean( feel bad for the family of the zoo keepeeper),also to kill a dying speices would be stupid

If you keep a wild animal in a cage and 1 day it has had enough and decides to eat you, your fault not the animals. Besides, there are not many left, killing even 1 is unacceptable

My thoughts are with the zoo keepers family.

Please do not put Oz down he is a wild animal in captivity. Our planet will have one less beautiful tiger!! Don't do it!!

I will not go as far as to say the keeper didn't follow procedure, because I don't know that for sure. But anyone who works with animals loves animals and I like to think she wouldn't want Oz put down. Thinking of the keepers family friends and colleagues in such a rough time

Because no wild animal should be murdered for doing what comes naturally.

We choose to house wild animals in Zoos to both educate the public and to protect particular species. We do that with the knowledge that caring for such animals carries real dangers for keepers involved. When something tragic occurs as in the recent tragic death at hamilton Zoo, this is not a reason to kill the animal concerned. Certainly the circumstances that led to this tragedy must be investigated to prevent future such events. However the animal is not to blame and should NOT be euthanised . All sympathies however must be shown to the deceased keeper and her family in their loss as well as for the staff at the zoo who will no doubt still be in shock.

I think killing an animal for what is his normal instinct is disgusting.

The nature of a tiger is that of an apex predator. All zoo staff are aware of the risks associated with captive carnivores. We owe to this species the total responsibility for its decline - the species cannot afford the loss of a single individual.

Ghastly and tragic as this is, the tiger was just behaving normally. It isn't the tiger's "fault" it was captured to be protected in a zoo. This doesn't domesticate it and we can't ever forget that.

Why should a tiger be put down when it was doing what is natural for them.. when entering a tigers demningyou always take that risk.. if you dont like it set it free and not cage something that is born to be free.

It's a wild animal doing what wild animals are meant to do. It's not the Tigers fault that it is kept in captivity. Yes I feel sorry for the family who have lost their loved one but lots of people die every day doing their jobs.

If the keeper did flow procegers them its not the animals fault and shouldn't die from a humans mistake.

Although I am very sad what happened to the keeper, these are wild animals caged, not many left, so many factors involved.

The tiger does not deserve to be killed for having wild instincts.
It was a tragedy but not the Tigers fault

The tiger didn't choose captivity

The tiger is a wild animal, and it didn't kill it out of spite or anger, it is in its nature and it is NOT its fault the keeper didn't properly follow procedures.

Because its a tiger...it's not a pet animal very sad for the keepers family...but I'm sure she knew this could happen as its natural instint doesn't go away. Please save the tiger.

The tiger did what Tigers do, end of argument.
It's unfortunate, yes, but how can you assume blame on an animal which is just running by it's natural instincts.

This majestic animal was only doing what it is born to do. These are not house cats and I am sure the keeper who sadly lost her life would not want this big cat euthanised either!

Euthanising a tiger for being a tiger is just stupid. If Hamilton Zoo cannot cope with them, then relocate them to a zoo which has staff with more expertise.
