The fact that people need a petition to have Antonio Sanchez' score eligible for nomination at the very least is indicative of a broken system. Please correct your path, and allow this groundbreaking score receive the appropriate qualification status.

Academy NEEDS to give a real reason for their decision.
AS's score was incredible and an integral part of the story telling process.

Anothere example of the Academy's ongoing struggle to remain irrelevant.

En la película de UP parece la Habanera de Bizet. Cómo no fue descalificada del Oscar en su momento.

This petition is the very least we can in support of Antonio Sanchez and his works of art. Hi ssocres were wrongly disqualified for Oscar nomination.

Another comparison, maybe even better, is with the score for The Artist, which actually won the Oscar in 2012 despite the climactic scene being underscored by music lifted directly from Bernard Hermann's score for Vertigo. Shameful.

Academy do what is right for arts & music. What is worthy should be chosen. Disqualifying birdman score is wrong and hurts the industry by suppressing the new and bright. Changing your mind will show reason and desire to continue growing and learning. We all make mistakes. It's in correcting them we keep true and able to aspire.

I saw the film and felt the drum score made the film conceptually unique and very powerful. Everyone I know who saw it and several before I saw it commented on the score which rarely if ever happens. This is a very big mistake to exclude it from consideration. Having worked on an Oscar winning film in editorial myself.

This is one of the most impressive and innovative scores in a film to date. The interpretation of emotion on a drum set at this depth only demonstrated how deeply connected the composer was with the film, and the drumming was pure genius. Limiting a film score to conventional composition/orchestration format should not be part of the criteria for consideration in the Oscars. Daring to break the rules for the sake of creativity only demonstrated the uniqueness of the film and an advancement in film production as a whole.

Thanks so much for the comment and your signature! One small correction: Fortunately, eligibility for an Oscar for a film score is not limited to conventional orchestral content. What makes the Academy excuse so infuriating is that there is no such criteria to eliminate Antonio's score and they did it anyway.

It makes no sense that such a brilliant score, which has already won other awards, doesn't even get to be considered for the highest honor it deserves.

Birdman's score is the most innovative and clearly one of the best ones I've heard in my life. It work's perfectly with the movie. The Academy Awards are obviously scared.

VAMOS ANTONIO CARAJO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
