Subject: Urgent Action Required to Address Healthcare Crisis in the Greater Toronto Area
We, the undersigned residents of Ontario, are deeply concerned about the current state of healthcare in our province, particularly the overcrowding and backlog in emergency rooms within the Greater Toronto Area. The creation of for-profit healthcare companies has exacerbated these issues, leading to a dangerous and precarious healthcare system.
We call on the Ontario government to take immediate action to:
1. Expand Emergency Room Capacity: Invest in expanding the capacity of emergency rooms to reduce wait times and improve patient care.
2. Increase Hospital Beds: Ensure that more hospital beds are available to meet the growing demand, preventing patients from being turned away or experiencing long wait times.
3. Build New and Larger Hospitals: Commit to building new, state-of-the-art hospitals equipped for the 22nd century, ensuring they are capable of serving future generations.
4. Support Healthcare Workers: Invest in recruiting and retaining healthcare workers by providing competitive salaries and benefits to combat the siphoning of talent by for-profit entities.
5.Promote Public Healthcare: Reinforce the importance of a strong public healthcare system that prioritizes patient care over profit.
By signing this petition, we urge the Ontario government to prioritize these actions to ensure that all residents have access to timely and effective healthcare services.
Together, let’s call for a better, more sustainable healthcare system for Ontario.
