Uphold the Minority Status of AMU

We write this letter on behalf of female alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).  As you know AMU is a flagship minority institution of India that has played a pivotal role in the educational upliftment of the marginalized and underserved communities producing exemplary Indians who went on to serve national and global interests across all sectors and all spheres of life. Particularly, if it was not for AMU, the Indian Muslim women would have been left far behind in education. It is because of AMU that its female graduates serve as physicians, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs, scientists, policymakers, filmmakers, and artists, thus shining in all sectors locally, nationally, and globally.

We are alarmed to hear that the minority character of this esteemed institution has been caught in a debate in the Indian courts. We request your kind support and consideration in upholding its minority status such that AMU continues to serve its mission of educational empowerment.
