Support prof. Marius Stamate for universities without corruption

Facts: Professor Marius Stamate from the Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau, Romania, started a hunger strike on September 8 with a series of claims for "a university without abuses". By the end of today, September 12, he was not contacted by the university leadership to resolve the conflict. Sign this petition to show those responsible that Marius Stamate is not alone in this approach.

Petition: We ask the Ministry of Education for constructive involvement in solving the serious problems at the Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau, but also in solving the systemic problems of the Romanian higher education. Stop abusive dismissals! Ensure respect for the academic rights and freedoms of students and academic staff!

Violation of the principle of equality before the law and the principle of equal treatment by some university leaders, psychological harassment, discrimination, denigration, slander, isolation, intimidation, threat, attack on the person, violation of the principle of respect for the right to opinion of the students as a direct beneficiary of the education system, obstruction of research activity, blocking international collaborations, violation of the principle of decisional transparency, violation of the principle of substantiating decisions on dialogue and consultation, non-compliance with clauses of the collective labor contract in the university are the reasons for which Marius Stamate has decided to protest in an extreme form, the hunger strike.

​Respect for the rights and freedoms of academic staff as laid down the law, the restoration of meritocracy as a basis for academic activity, the promotion of excellence in teaching and research and the restoration of the dignity of teaching staff are the main claims.

Because Marius Stamate had the courage to express his critical point of view to the leadership, they are trying to dismiss him and other undesirable colleagues, including myself. Sign this petition in order that the right to free opinion and expression and the right to petition guaranteed by the Romanian Constitution to be respected in Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau.
