STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF DUNLUCE -Review and Revise Edmonton's Neighborhood Renewal Program

**** This petition is open to the residents of of Dunluce**** 153 Avenue to the south, 167 Avenue to the North, 127 street to the west, Castle Downs road to the east.

We, the citizens of Dunluce, a Community in Northwest Edmonton, are requesting an immediate revision of the neighborhood renewal program initiated by The City of Edmonton. The current trajectory of the project is exacerbating issues within our community by needlessly narrowing streets, establishing discontinuous bike lanes, removing substantial amounts of green space, and, worryingly, potentially impeding the access of emergency service vehicles.

The renewal program will lead to the eradication of 178 trees, thereby negatively impacting our environment and local wildlife. In addition to this, we have witnessed the ushering in of insufficiently planned bicycle lanes that fail to connect to any network, leaving them largely unused and unnecessary. Moreover, this redesign restricts accessibility for emergency services like fire trucks, ambulances, police services, and transit buses. This design compromises the safety of our community members and is a concern that needs immediate addressing.

Simultaneously, increased tax burdens due to the renewal program add unnecessary financial stress to our community. Therefore, we appeal to The City of Edmonton to construct “like for like”, i.e., maintain the existing community layout and features in the Edmonton neighborhood renewal plan.

The Dunluce neighbourhood of Edmonton calls upon the city administration to review this renewal program, considering its environmental, social, and economic implications. We implore you to act on this now to ensure the livability and sustainability of our neighborhood. Please sign this petition to recognize and redress these concerns.

To: The Council of the Urban Municipality of Edmonton, in the province of Alberta.

The Undersigned persons, being electors / Property owners of the Urban Municipality of Edmonton, Residential Neighbourhood of Dunluce, in the province of Alberta, hereby petition the council of Edmonton for/to:

“Modify the City of Edmonton’s decision to narrow our streets, construct bicycle lanes that don’t connect to any network, remove greenspace (178 trees), widen sidewalks, restrict accessibility for emergency services like fire trucks, ambulances, police services and transit buses. Construct “Like for Like” keeping the current footprint as part of the Edmonton neighborhood renewal program. Reconsider implementing all these extra design features given that our community is also under the burden of imposed tax increases, which will place undue financial stress on our residents."
