It is a nice place to get together on weekends with friends and family.
Will also be nice to attract family and friends that lives in other Provences or towns.

We are losing all decent places to enjoy the ocean here!! That because people don't look after the areas!!
We will rather pay to ensure the maintenance of these areas

Because I've lived in Richardsbay for many many years now, before we ever thought that navel would close. Today I'm a mother of 3 kiddies. Where else was the place to go as a familie to enjoy the summer days splashing and playing. It's heartbreaking that now the only place that families could go with there kids has been taken and closed. Just because certain people has no consideration for the beautiful nature, destroying and leaving there alcohol bottles and rubbish all over. Because there are no consideration for others also wanting to enjoy the only beach area feeling safe to go as families. I say let's stand together and allow our families to enjoy the places we once could as it once was.

Danelle Jansen (Richardsbay, 2024-12-01)

I agree. To open navel. Make braai places. Number stands. Keep control by pay for stand. Inspect area by hanging back your number. If it is not clean send back to clean or pay n fine

Have the fondest memories of both Naval & Pelican - perfect for family picnics and outings - was great fishing at Naval during evenings. It was an attraction which my inland family enjoyed so much when visiting me - please give us back these 2 proudly Richardsbay spots 😄

"I believe paying an entrance fee is a great idea to ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for families like mine. It helps maintain high standards and provides a better experience for everyone."

Richards Bay used to be the place to come for a beach holiday, but there is no beaches to go to with family and friends so they rather go to a place where they can go to the beach.
And for us that stay in Rbay were must we go to enjoy the beach and have a nice braai.

I would pay to enter with a pleasure.

I suggest that they must include a black bag or two by the entrance boom so that everyone can take their rubbish back home with them.

Our municipality and ward councilors should step in and take responsibility for the bad behaviour of their voters. If we all pay for access the powers that be can use that money to erect boom gates and pay additional security!

Esther J Richter (Richards Bay, 2024-12-02)

I am a resident in Richards bay, from 1992 , and we want our fishing and relaxing places back , and we are prepared to pay for access, to pay for public toilet and dustbins, just like the south pier

I'm signing this petition because I love go out with my kids and grandkids but these days you can't go any where or have a lovely day at the beach because other people don't care and you still have to clean the place before we can enjoy your day.

We love to go to Pelican. I have children and on a hot day it is so nice to take your Gazibo and chill for the day. And the beach is not accessible anymore what will be left for as as baysiders??

I agree because it was a nice place to go fishing. Also a family place besides all the loud music drunk people and some people walking in your area where you are sitting with your family. I also think that they should open it but have strict rules like south pier. Maybe than those who respect the environment and the area don't get punished as well. Those who camp over and want to party at the beach, are the ones who should be stopped not those coming to spend time with their families and have a relaxing day. There is no where you can go in Richards bay that you aren't being invaded of your area where you sit or fish. There are always drunk people even at alkanstrand. It's embassing to see what Richards bay has become. There is no more a family safe beach anywhere beside south pier.

Tiara Singh (Richards bay, 2024-12-02)

I agree to an entrance fee to the beaches.not an arm n a leg tho...considering ppl that also love the beach and are not so financially equipped.

Johnny Prins (Richards bay, 2024-12-02)

I am signing because my daughter almost 3 has been to the beach 3 times only due to this disgust, the other day at alkant we walked passed open used condoms on the beach and I find that disgusting.
For drowning we need life guards in place!!!! That is a MUST. It is a public area so as it stands by Law no drink in public I do not see where this is being applied here. No alcohol should be allowed! No noise and loud music because 20 cars playing different songs is just unpleasant.
We want our children to have a safe, healthy, sanitary place to swim at a beach as there live on the coast line and the closest decent beach is cape vidal or mthunzini.
Please look into all these factors
Ban alcohol from the beach
Security present at boom gates to search cars and also walk amongst people.
Road allocated for emergency personal ONLY access to any part of the beach.
Boom gates put up and a fee or seasonal access card to be able to have access
Put up mobile toilets
Put up bins
No loud music and chaos
Municipality to be strongly involved in this or we as a community will volenteer to do it our selves as the Municipality is failing our children and our community.

Please also address the rediculous noise coming from residence homes and big events, sound checks sound be done and residencial areas should not be affected by the strong boom boom boom until all hours of the morning.

I am embarrassed to be a citizen of richards bay and ashamed because my child does not have a future here since all is being taken away due to irresponsible people who cannot control themselves in a civilized manner in public.

Project clean RICHARDS BAY of all this nonsense so we can live like ever human being lives

I hereby sign this petition as the closing of beaches and so forth for us recreational fisherman is just sad. Most of the areas has been taken away and thus forcing us to travel long distances to other places just to fish.

I fully agree to the terms to have a full fledged access controlled area where people can be monitored and fined for not adhering to the rules.

I have no problem by paying a small fee for entry to have portable toilets and a safe and clean place to fish.

As a Fisherman, we look after the environment and to go to beaches and other places to fish only to find a lot of dirt and rubbish and debris from people who do not give a crap is just plainly disgusting.

Access Controlled Beach Areas with toilets and security with patrols during the night and day including cleaners and cleaner beach areas or fishing spots @ +/- R35. No problem. Even a yearly pass for R250 or something would be worth it.

Somewhere these people with bad behaviors and total disregard for nature should be dealt with and taught a lesson in caring for the environment.

I hope this motivates this petition with a plan even more as I am totally tired of traveling far and to clean other dumb people's mess before my family and I can enjoy a good time at the beach.

Thank you.

Apart from the beaches and town, there is actually very little to do in Richards Bay.
Tourists come here mainly from up country to enjoy the beach ⛱️
Imagine coming all the way and not one beach is assessable.
Let us pay for decent, clean, well maintained beaches.

I have 2 small children. I feel it's important to have a safe space for children to play like we did. At the moment Pelican is a disaster. I fully agree. If you would please consider making Pelican a safe paid place for us to take our children too. We need activities for our children, an outdoor safe space. Instead of sticking them infront of a TV ALL DAY

As a parent of two young children, I believe it’s crucial to provide a safe and engaging environment for them to play, just as we had when we were kids. Currently, Pelican is in a state of disrepair, and I wholeheartedly agree that it needs attention. I kindly ask that you consider transforming Pelican into a safe, paid space where families like ours can bring their children. We desperately need activities and an outdoor, secure area for them to explore, rather than resorting to having them sit in front of a TV all day.

I moved to Richardsbay to support my spouse with her career. I work in the USA and only come home once a year for 3 months. As a child one of my favorite fishing spots was on Naval island and it was such a disappointing moment moving to one of my favorite places and have all my childhood area's closed down. We dont mess or do anything wrong. We enjoy our sport while spending time with our families. Teaching our kids how to survive aswell as patience to wait and get rewarded . Fishing is a life choice and would mean so much to have the opportunity to get navel open again

WF Broodryk (Richards Bay, 2024-12-06)

I'm signing this petition because of the reason to get back limited access to pelican and naval island I am willing to pay a entry fee to be able to still use the area and to uphold and abide by the law because I grew up in Richards Bay KZN and I love going fishing but all the safe places is being taken away from us to enjoy our self's

Kobus Engelbrecht (Richards Bay, 2024-12-10)

Ban alcohol fine people using it at the beach area and let all pay entering going to the beach. Unfair to close because of negligence of parents that don't take care of their kids. We're do you take you families alkant beach is always to busy and no space to take family out for the day. Ban people that don't listen.

I have no were to take my family anymore to enjoy the beach. I stay in Richards bay moved here because it was beautiful and had so many fishing and swimming spots. First you took Catarinas away then the waterfront ten Naval now pelican. I can't even take my family to Palm beach anymore due to all the culture rituals and anamal sacrifices there. All that's left is Alkand strand and this is not a place I want to take my family .....small children and my dogs can't swim here. So now I'm staying in a town where there are no place left to go swimming of fishing safety anymore 😭😞 The public drinking has gotten so out of hand it feeling like we are living in a dustbin town. How will people coming for holiday feel. If you don't take this petition seriously I can't see how people can stay here, or come here for holiday. You will be left with a ghost town.
