Say No to Extended Trading Hours - Tygervalley Mall

Comments

#3

Of safety concerns for my staff who use public transport.

JP Delport (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#5

Center management has not made the nessery arrangements with public transportation for staff as the main transportation is in Belleville and most of the taxi is gone by 20:00 already meaning staff will be stucked in Belleville and with that being said staff safety comes first

Faheema Sanders (Cape town, 2024-09-18)

#14

I'm signing because I can not afford to work later than 7pm due to the area I live in is a RED FLAG zone ( very dangerous) Mitchell's Plain Tafelsig.

Viola Abrahams (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#17

I'm against Tygervalley extended hours

Tristan Anthony (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#19

The management is very inconsiderate.
Trading till 8pm on a normal bases does not make sense since the mall gets quiet by 7pm already and for obvious safety reasons.
What about those who still have to walk a distance to their homes? Really ridiculous.
I get that working in retail comes with it's shifts and weekends and all but extending it just takes another few hours away from the staffs lives.
VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS!
No empathy is showed to the staff. Bad job Tygervalley, show some understanding towards your people.

Amy Anthony (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#20

This is ridiculous and the staffs safety is not made a priority.

Tracy Murphy (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#22

It's important to ensure the well being of staff so they can deliver exceptional service

Shanaaz Sadan (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#24

I’m signing this because I say no to the 20:00

Alutha 💕 Ntlanganiso (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#25

I'm signing because of workers that stay far and have to travel so late at nyt

Wardah Kamaar (Cape town, 2024-09-18)

#27

I don't want to be working past 7pm as this is unfair to everyone who has to take taxis and busses and no one one will basically see their family during the day

Celine Van Biljon (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#28

I have a second job I work in Cape Town..my last bus to from bellville to cape Town is 5.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday..I do not use cash or a taxii as I buy a weekly bus ticket...there is no later bus for me to get to my 2nd job on a weekend

Rene Henry (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#29

We as tenants were not consulted before making this decision.

Cindy-Lee Meyer (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#31

I work in Tygervalley and make use of public transport.

Tim Wentzel (Mitchells Plain, 2024-09-18)

#33

I live in a dangerous area and it is not safe for me to walk late at night that is why I am signing the petition

Chulu Ngwenze (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#34

Centre management has done no investment into transport that will ensure feet to and from mall and have put staff at big risk with no transportation to cover shifts and has not done creditable planing for late trade and has no attractions to lure clients and has allot of vacant shops .

Shadley Sadan (Cape town, 2024-09-18)

#41

I’m signing because I am thinking of the employees that have to travel home at that time of the evening it’s not safe and there is nothing happening that time of night in a mall thank you

Kisha Koopman (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#45

My sister works in that mall and it's already risky for her to travel now, it will be more risky for her to travel if the hours are extended, which compromises her safety as well. Please reconsider this decision.

Kim Cloete (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#50

If I'm gonna take a bus later than half past 7 at night then I'm gonna get home past 10 and I have to walk five minutes from the bus stop home. I'm concerned about my safety.

Jody Figland (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#51

Of safety for us as staff that needs to travel through Bellville where there is no transportation after 8. This means we will be stranded and have no way home. To be stranded in Bellville at the taxi rank at that time is dangerous.

Qaseem Kleinhans (Cape Town, 2024-09-18)

#54

I'm signing this petition because employees are human beings and not robots.

Jodi-Anne Hearne (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#60

Its dangerous where i stay that time of the night

Nawaal Ruiters (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#61

The mall can not trade till 8 due high risk area, people's lives is at stake.

Britney Klink (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#62

Most people that work in the mall stay in areas far from the mall. This means staff have to put there lives at risk to go home from work because public transport does not drop staff in front of there houses and who says there might be transport available that time of the night for staff. Is our safety and well-being not important?

Myron Carolus (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#63

These trading hours will negatively impact my work/ family balance.
The trading hours will ultimately have the most negative impact on the time spent with my young kids as most of my time is allocated to working.

Lee Blom (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#64

It’s stupid and pointless to trade till 8 people will struggle with transport and the mall is anyway dead before 7 its a waste of time!!!!!!!!!and it’s unsafe for many people traveling far.

Berenita Archery (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#68

I do not agree with the extended hours as we live in red zone areas and it is unsafe.

Sonja Marselli (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#72

I'm signing this because there are no facilities to assist with the late night travel.
I will even say we were lied too regarding transport from taxi's

Jean-Claude Van heerden (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#73

I'm going have difficulty to get home after 8pm as I do stay in a very dangerous area to also use public transport at that time of night

Shandele Pretorius (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#76

I'm signing to say NO TO EXTENDED HOURS. I feel it is inconsiderate that management would want to do this due to the fact that alot of staff members live in dangerous areas. Working till 7pm is already late and they have to travel to far places, so working an hour later till 8pm will be even more of a risk because the staff members will then get later home. So I oppose against it all

Veronica Abrahams (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#77

I will get home late and it's not safe for us ,I will not have money to pay for protection fee

Cynthia Gcayiya (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#80

After 6, the mall is quiet, we don't make any sales between 6 and 7, its pointless to stay open till 8

Inshaaf Batiste (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#82

I’m unhappy about the trading hours

Paullen Meyers (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#88

We all have various reasons as to why these extended hours should not happen!

Jacques De Villiers (Bloubergstrand, 2024-09-19)

#89

The mall is quiet after 6 and it's extremely dangerous travelling to eerste river after 8

Calin Woods (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#93

We as staff are worried about our safety and how we will travel from Bellville

Mekayla Petersen (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#95

I feel the extra hour is pointless as the mall is quiet after 7 even during festive hours.

Joseph potgieter (kuilsrivier, 2024-09-19)

#96

I am worried about my safety home using public transport , an our areas is not safe late at night and the transport doesn't drop safely by ur doorstep

Ilhaam Albridge (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#97

The hours is unreasonable to the staff that works there.

Joel Daniels (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#98

Trading late is ridiculous... traveling should be considered.

Shirmel De Wet (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#99

No taxis available after 8. Uber is unsafe, and expensive

Celeste Jaars (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#102

I’m signing because the trading hours are firstly so dangerous for us to travel at night, putting our lives at risk.
And for what ? A mall that sees almost no customers after 6?

Kiara Gavinda (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#104

Safety of staff .no transport that time

Shantal Jansen (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#106

My area is too dangerous too get at home so late

Zaakirah Farao (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#110

Against the trading of the mall that will close at 8

Samantha Deerling (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#114

I've previously worked in retail and seen constant exploitation of retail workers by both management and customers and it's absolutely a form of abuse and it needs to stop. These people have lives and families apart from their jobs and it becomes abuse when work life steals from their human right outside of their workplace but still are expected to perform at their best. Enough is enough!

Megan Lynch (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#122

NO to late trading hours because of limited transport options at late hours and safety concerns of the workers . The staff has increased risk of crime or accidents

Okuhle Ngwetsheni (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#124

I know how it feels to be away from family during a long weekend and it's the worst feeling

Atisang Ramabele (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#125

Safety comes 1st most people they traveling from very high risk areas. From 20:00 there is no public transport.

Hargreaves Monde Sibizo (Cape Town, 2024-09-19)

#128

Its no acceptable

Bianca Canha (Bellville, 2024-09-19)

#130

I am signing this petition because to trade till 20:00 is too risky for me I am already getting home very late doesn't matter even if im working till 18:00 I'm still getting home after 20:00 just imagine when I'm working till 20:00 I will be at home 22:00. And remember bus stop is very far and there is this protection fee that we must pay

Nontando Sicwebu (Mfuleni, 2024-09-19)

#132

Philip Van der merwe (Bellville, 2024-09-19)

Anneline Nicodemus (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#152

I am unhappy about the extended hours…ill get home at 9:30 and my kids will be fast asleep already…I am a young married woman who won’t be able to even cook or spend time with my family…

Raymondi Jansen (Cape town, 2024-09-19)

#154

Because this will put employees life’s at risk.
Tygervalley must still improve their mall before changing trading hours

Cheryl Leyander (Cape town, 2024-09-20)
