Occupational Review of LPNs in Newfoundland

We need to show NL how impactful our work truly is to our healthcare system.

A occupational review is of the upmost importance in Newfoundland for lpns in order to recruit and RETAIN licensed practical NURSES in this province. We are already seeing lpns leaving in droves and the strain on our healthcare and healthcare professionals is at an all time high! Do something!

Jenielle Stryde (Virgin arm, 2024-04-06)

This is way overdo. We deserve this!

Amanda Parsons (St. John's, 2024-04-06)

LPN's have been underpaid and undervalued for way too long. Our responsibilities keep increasing and in no way does our pay reflect that.

Tara Kavanagh (Goulds, 2024-04-06)

I’m signing because we are better and deserve better! Give us an occupational review that we deserve

Tracy Buckle (Paradise, 2024-04-06)

We need fair compensation for the work we do, we need recognition in this province as “NURSES”. We need a job review now!

I'm signing because I am tired of LPNs being undervalued and overworked.

I’m a retired LPN and personally I think this should have been done years ago so I want to support my friends and coworkers who are still fighting the same issues that we faced. Once a nurse always a nurse

I’m signing because our mandatory scope of practice has vastly increased to the point of being comparable to RNs, yet our pay has not! When there is a shortage of RNs it is our responsibility to fill in for them. Difference in pay is insane and we are not recognized as Nurses just hospital support!

Tracy Lush (Campbellton, 2024-04-06)

The scope of practice for LPNs is growing. We are doing more skills than ever before and we should be recognized for our education and skills.

I would appreciate your follow up on our promised employer initiated job review for the LPNs of the province. This desperately needs attention. We are increasingly replacing RNs, we are increasingly working extra duties in our ever expanding scope of practice. Our nurse to client ratios are very high. Drawing on those statistics in comparison to other provinces would be interesting. We are part of the solution in mending of our healthcare system. The government agreed that we need an accurate up to date job description so that we can close the gap between what we actually do, what the government thinks we do and what we can potentially do. I believe a job review would garner fair and more reflective wages which would attract students to the empty seats and it would also recruit and retain.

Unfortunately, the increased wait time of this getting attention it deserves is adding to feelings of unappreciation, undervalue and unimportance

We deserve a pay that reflects our scope of practice.

My pay don’t reflect my Education.

I work with LPNs and they are no different from RNs. They're still amazing nurses and they should be recognized on the same level as RNs. Changes need to be made for the better!

Cornelia Fleming (Conception Bay South, 2024-04-06)

I'm signing because it's about time for LPNs to get the recognition and respect that we deserve! LPNs are NURSES !!

Denise Hayward (GfW, 2024-04-06)

As an LPN who is undervalued, disrespected and underpaid for the position I hold in our healthcare.

Lpns need a job review

Janice Fahey (Paradise, 2024-04-06)

I have been an LPN for 35 yrs
I have felt disrespected and undervalued as a nurse
Our scope of practice has changed tremendously in the last few years and we as Licensed Practical Nurses have taken on a larger role without the monetary compensation to reflect our increased responsibility and this needs to be rectified

Sherry Gillett Loder (Lewisporte, 2024-04-06)

I’m signing because LPNs in this province deserve to be respected and recognized for our hard work!!

Rainbow-Lynn Williams (Bay Bulls, 2024-04-06)

This needs to be a priority. LPNs are under-utilized, overworked and underpaid - especially for the increase in responsibilities we are currently facing. Due to the above stated issues, there interest level in this occupation is also decreasing, which would be catastrophic to the health care system.

Lindsay Rowsell (Mount Pearl, 2024-04-06)

I'm an underpaid and undervalued LPN. We deserve fair compensation! Its time for our government to take action on their overdue promises. We have been waiting far too long! We need reclassification now!

I’ve been an LPN for 27 years, graduated from the Centre For Nursing Studies in 1997. Moved to Alberta for 11 years and moved back to Newfoundland in 2007. I’m sad to say LPN’s were treated better and regarded as nurses there years ago but the government here still treat us like we don’t matter. It’s quite disappointing and disheartening.

Alison Phillips (Carbonear, 2024-04-06)

I work in healthcare and know how valuable LPNs are to our patients and us!

Summer Peddle (Paradise, 2024-04-06)

I am an LPN.
I we are not considered a nurse by a majority of the population.
We work so much overtime to take care of our patients/residents who often become like family.
We are under staffed, under valued & under appreciated.
We are always taking more duties, but yet we have not received a pay raise to reflect this.
We are burnt out.
We are losing out on time with our families.
We love our job.
But we need more recognition l!!

Kendra Bennett (Gander, 2024-04-06)

I am an LPN who wants change. Change in pay and change in classification!

I work with LPN’s and understand the importance of this!!!

Rena Walsh (Holyrood, 2024-04-06)

We need change as well as recognition, which is deserved, but rarely received.

Janell Flynn (St. John’s, 2024-04-06)

I agree with the above. LPNs need to be valued for their true worth and seen that way as well. To the hospital community and the public.

Melissa Noseworthy (Point Leamington, 2024-04-06)

I am LPN specializing in long term care, palliative and hospice care. I believe LPNs deserve to be paid much more than their current rates and a major review is needed immediately!
