The coffee trough is an amazing little business down south. I like visiting there when I walk my dog along the beach, there are always lots of locals there and it has a great sense of community about it. Would be such a shame to see it go!Elisa Bignell (Adelaide, 2024-02-05)

I feel that the Coffee Trough has created a space for community. From walkers, locals, mums dads and their kids to men’s mental health groups and the elderly looking for a place that offers shelter, a way to get out of their home and a chat.It brings so many people together and that has to be a good thing.

I'm signing because this little coffee stop made my move into the area so much more enjoyable. I knew noone and was unfamiliar with the area, but being able to stop here during my walks with the dogs on my way home made me feel connected to the community, and helped me to talk to other people in the area. Every time J have been there, even when it's been busy, its quiet and respectful and everyone just enjoys the atmosphere.Ash Patterson (Seaford, 2024-02-05)

The Coffee Trough has been a meaningful part of my life the last few years since Christine started up business originally on the Esplanade. I can’t see how for the location she is at now that it can be any kind of issue or disturbance to anyone. I feel the Coffee Trough adds value and culture to the area. I wanted to move house before The Coffee Trough came along but having somewhere lovely to get a coffee and snack that works well when with my dogs made me feel like I couldn’t live anywhere better for us.Jillian Innes (Seaford, 2024-02-05)

We need community business like these! We have hardly any fun, kid friendly activities to do down south or you have to drive all the way to the city. They aren’t doing anything wrong. They’re supply good coffee and food. They have made sure to take every precaution with effecting the surrounding community . A safe, warm and loving environment. What’s wrong about that?Grace Jolly (Huntfield Heights, 2024-02-05)

The Coffee Trough is such a great addition to our community. It has such positive vibes and great food and coffee and supports so many other local businesses. As a rate payer myself I would be devastated to see it go.Lauren Hillman (Port Noarlunga South, 2024-02-05)

I support small business and believe this current council does not value small business and is stale in its approach to growth within the area. The Coffee Trough is a great business, run by and equally great individual, and is deserving of its place of operation within the City of Onkaparinga.Michael Long (Seaford Heights, 2024-02-05)

Christine has built up the Coffee Trough to something so special with dedication and hard work it has an amazing reputation with all of us Mid Coast locals and tourists that pop through our beautiful coastline. Everyone deserves the right to run a business, she is so passionate and also supports and promotes other local businesses anyway she can.Dean.

The Coffee Trough is such a great addition to our community. Not only is there sensational coffee, the atmosphere, community spirit and general good vibe is such a positive way for people to get together. I’m signing because she has the best coffee-seriously and she is the most respectful kind person. And me going to sit in her front yard having a coffee and a chat has saved me from falling into a deep depression at the moment as my dad is dying of cancer.I love her business and hate that it’s being shut down.

Christine has created such an inviting space at her home. We go there at least once a week. Our kids love swinging on her swing set and ask us to go there. I have been there on several occasions when her neighbours have come over for coffee and they have a great relationship with her, with the next door kids asking to go get their ball. I have never seen anyone parking inappropriately whilst visiting her and there would be very little noise spilling over to neighbours house. I don't see why she has caused any violations. Very disappointed in the Council for stopping this great community gathering for a quick coffeeJessica Holder (Seaford Rise, 2024-02-05)

The Coffee Trough is the heart and soul of Seaford and its community! I have been visiting The Coffee Trough for years and the current set up at 63 Tiller Drive Seaford is the best. My children are able to play behind a fence and have room to safely play while I wait for my coffee. I can easily and safely park on the street without ever having an issue with traffic congestion or unsafe situations with parking or entering/exiting my car, including having my young children enter/exit the car.Not only is this business a local business built from the ground up, it also supports other local businesses with advertising and merchandise.
The Coffee Trough is a peaceful place which I have never experienced any loud or disruptive behaviour at.
Please do not take one nasty person word for this beautiful business.

The Coffee Trough is no disturbance at all!I live 2 houses down, 15 metres away.
Christine is adorable, her coffee is delicious, there is less noise than the traffic on the esplanade that is further away from my house, she is respectful, quiet and everyone loves her, except 1 person! Who is now definitely going to be known as the person who shut down a local business for no valid reason!
Christine is making a living, with her lovely van and her sustainable business, sourcing local products, contributing to the lovely life of the street where neighbours can get together for a quick chat and a coffee.
Let the Coffee Trough be the way it is!

A young mum of two girls, this coffee shop has been a savour on a number of occasions, the ability to walk 500m up the road and see another human to talk to in some fresh air when you are ‘stuck’ at home wirh two babies is absolutely priceless!!!! Saved my mental health so often! This is just one single reason why this is important!Paige Harkness (Adelaide, 2024-02-05)

I fully support this small business and find it incredibly difficult to believe noise of traffic is genuinely problematic for surrounding homes. I support this petition for think business to be able to continue its contribution to the coffee loving community. Good coffee is hard to find ! Female entrepreneurs even more so and one who freely supports others. This is not one business being impacted - it’s a complete network. issues can be resolved through conciliation … shame on Onkaparinga council for not adopting a problem solving approach !!!Ange C. We love visiting the coffee trough from her home location. It’s great that it brings the community together through coffee and she also supports other local businesses by selling or supporting their products through her van. It’s a tradition of ours as a family to walk down and grab a hot drink on a weekend morning. It would be a great loss to the area if she were to go!Emma Curran (Seaford, 2024-02-05)

I’ve have watched Kathy build this business over years. She has always run a community based environmentally sustainable business. She has never sought funding or other supports and her home based business supports her family. She contributes to the community through a safe meeting place a supporter of many community events and other owner operated businesses. The council must support women in business end must find a way to support this Business. Kathy also contributes significantly to employment outcomes through her support of other businesses.Gayle Newnham (Port Noarlunga South, 2024-02-05)

The coffee trough is an amazing place, what Christine has created should be looked at as an asset to the local community, we should be striving to encourage small businesses in the area.An absolute shame if a small minority or an individual shut this down for 100s which love this place.
