Comments

#2

Councilwoman Baccus needs to resign.

Donna Howle (Lamar, 2020-07-22)

#3

I'm signing this because wrong is wrong. With all the racially charged riots going on this is something we do not need right now. Cw baccus knows what she did and this can not idly pass by and be swept under the rug. Officer bryant is an outstanding officer and should not have to be racially profiled. I hope everyone else who reads this has the balls to speak up. Racism is not one sided and is seen in many colors.

James High (darlington, 2020-07-22)

#4

I agree with the concerns raised.

Henry Howle (Lamar, 2020-07-22)

#5

Racism needs to end

Adrian Street (Darlington, 2020-07-22)

#21

If it was me I would be fired

Ron Robison (Hartsville, 2020-07-22)

#22

That it's not the attitude I want to represent me or my family towards law enforcement. The statement is a direct racially driven slur and that does not belong in this county. A woman was fired from the court house for having a opinion on rioters, no comment was made by her against a person's race send she was fired immediately. Which I do not think was just. In a time like this racial inequality us across the board.

Brandy Stalvey (Hartsville, 2020-07-22)

#23

She was definitely not acting to ethical standards of a elected official

Jerry Boone (Hartsville, 2020-07-22)

#24

Tanya Allen (Darlington, 2020-07-22)

They fire TV stars, fire police, fire Nascar drivers, fire other government officialsfor using inappropriate words so why shouldn't she be fired.

#35

We don't need or desire to have a racist councilwoman respresenting our city.

Teresa Powell (Darlington, 2020-07-22)

She was wrong in what she said and if the officer had spoken to her in that way there would be no need for this petition because he would have been fired immediately.

Tina Knight (Darlington, 2020-07-22)

#42

She needs to go

Wayne Watford (Hartsville, 2020-07-22)

Paula Stokes (Darlington, 2020-07-22)

This would only be fair. She made the statements now let her pay for them. We do not need people with this kind of attitude to be in any kind of official office.

Kim Flood (Darlington, SC, 2020-07-22)

#58

I’m signing because Paul Bryant is a stand up guy who, I honestly believe, would take a bullet for my child. He is the SRO at my sons school. He fair and respectful to everyone and he should be treated with that same fairness and respect.

Do not believe this council woman can fairly represent ALL races. She should have been removed as soon as this happened! Sad a petition was needed, her superiors should have handled this swiftly! Not only was this racism at its finest, but she showed total disregard for the law & the police officer enforcing it.

Trina Newsome (Hartsville, 2020-07-22)

#69

I don’t believe in double standards. Reprimanding someone or terminating employment for racist remarks should be the same for everyone.

I'm signing because Ms. Baccus should have resigned and didn't. Her hate should be removed immediately from the City Council to prevent further detriment to our city. Her hate speech and verbal attack on a police officer should constitute a hate crime.

Mark Stokes (Darlingron, 2020-07-22)

Robin Sanders (Darlington, 2020-07-22)

racism is wrong against any color. SHE is a public official and was very unprofessional towards the Officer. How many more has she shown this disrespect to because of their color? She is a disgrace to the entire town.

Kim suggs (darlington, 2020-07-22)

She’s has a long track record of causing problems. Her racism and hate is not representative of what our city believes or upholds. She should most certainly be removed from office...there’s no place for that on city council.

what the council woman did and said was wrong. Regardless of race, government representatives need to be held to a higher standard and she needs to be held accountable. I'm sure the officer would have been dismissed or reprimanded had the roles been reversed.
