Bring Back Serrie!

Comments

#17

What happened at the prelims with the signs shouldn't have resulted in serrie being cancelled as a whole cause I feel it doesn't address the issue

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#22

It is unacceptable to take something away from the students which we worked so hard for and taking it away does not solve anything you are a higher education institution for peets sake!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#23

We have worked too hard to have this unity and passion destroyed.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2017-05-17)

#26

I support the fact that serrie should be brought back and I truly believe that serrie is something that brings people together and it gave me so much memories. Serrie is one of the best things res life has to offer and every person has to have the right to partake in it! #Bring_Back_Serrie

#28

Bring serrie back!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#31

This whole thing is about singing, dancing, unity and fun! Don't band the serrie band the posters and comments because banding the serrie won't solve eanything!!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#32

It is not right for up to take away our serrie because of some posters which meant no harm! We worked way to hard for this! We put in hours and hours of practice and they just take it away! We demand serrie to be brought back! It is what makes res so special the cultures get brought together and we all have so much fun together thats what its all about! There are so many other ways this could have been handled!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

this whole situation has been misunderstood , we enjoyed the whole night and we saw it as a joke and secondley the girls wrote just as bad stuff with the night of men's prelims , I feel that the people who started this drama does'nt have a good grip of what realy is going on , and all the pictures posted is so misleading! SERRIE WAS THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE , and should'nt be taken away from us.

(pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#50

We put 3 months into practicing for serrie and it is not just a tradition to through away.
Serrie17 is a highlight for me because I could learn to enjoy other cultures and how they dance

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#52

We all have a passion for serrie. We've worked to hard for it to be taken from us.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#54

I'm a student

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#56

I agree with this petition. It is unfair that we did not have a set in our serrie being taken away from us

(Johannesburg, 2017-05-17)

#62

I agree that they should bring back serrie!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#64

I'm signing because we worked really hard on this serrie and it's unfair to simply cancel it. It is tradition and amazing bonding experience.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#66

We worked for 3 months for this and in no way does our serrie promote rape culture! Why are you punishing the participants for something the spectators did

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#68

Because I've spent money, time and effort into serrie and this is not fair. Outsiders should have a say on what happens in tuks.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#73

I have given up hours and hours of my life for serrie, even during serrie prelims I was completely sick but refused to miss out on even just one single perfomance. Serrie is a tradition, two of my sisters went to the same residence as I am currently in about 15 years ago, I grew up hearing their amazing stories about res life. Essentially we are giving up the essence of what res life actually is by removing so many traditions, res life is a culture of its own. And isn't that what TUKS stands for? Tuks is meant to stand for unity through diversity of different cultures, bringing people of different cultures and backgrounds together focused on a common goal. This is what serrie offers, and should not be taken away.

(Bothaville, 2017-05-17)

#75

I am signing this because I am a serrie participant and I have worked way to hard for someone to come along with a comment that ruins it for all of us who actually want this. It is a Res event

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#76

I am a residence student who has worked hard over the past two months because of a common goal with other residence members and now that has been taken away from us because of a misinterpreted situation.

(Preroria, 2017-05-17)

#78

I am apart of Serrie and it is such an uplifting event. It is all about Res spirit and making unforgettable friends. Don't take this away from us.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#90

Serrie is my life! I worked had during this event and it can not be stopped with an 'we regret to inform....'

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#94

Because serrie should never be taken away. It is part of what residence live is.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#101

I'm a serrie participant and cannot not be heard!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#107

We need traditions in our university .

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#113

UP management is taking the easy route. They are to scared to adhere to the majority students who wants serrie

(middelburg, 2017-05-17)

#118

People who haven't actively participated in serrie and do not know how much work is put into the show should not be allowed to take it away from those who have been dedicating their life to serrie for the previous 3 months... Serrie does not incite rape culture

(Centurion, 2017-05-17)

#129

I believe the author of the petition is correct

(Johannesburg, 2017-05-17)

#132

We've worked too hard for it, just to have it stripped away from us.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#135

I find it outrageous that Serrie is cancelled because some people are too sensitive ane opiniated on a matter they don't fully understand. Serrie requires extreme amounts of dedication and it would be disgraceful of the university and more specifically STUKU to stop Serrie from running its course. #Bring_back_Serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#136

Bring back Serrie !!!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#138

Serrie makes you feel special - a part of something bigger, it can't be taken away! The only thing that got me through my days was knowing I have serrie practice the evening, I'm going to see my friends and that we're going to have sooo much fun!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#141

Serrie is a big part of res life and really brings the people in res closer.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#148

I'm signing because... (optional)you must consider the effort and cost that went into this and who will be refund the expenses that was already put in. Will the university carry these costs.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#150

I agree with the above

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#154

We are losing our student life and can not have fun or excitement any more because the University of pretoria is taking it all away

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#155

I'm signing because of the positive effects has on the students of the University of Pretoria. Both the participants and spectators join in an experience that help them grow as people, balance their lives and ultimately improve their academic performance!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#158

Bring serrie back! All the reses worked too hard and do not deserve this.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#159

I'm signing because the audiences inappropriateness should not be to the detriment of the performers.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#164

I am a supporter of serrie and it would be an injustice to take it away.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#173

I am signing because it is injust to remove a finals event after unmeasureable amounts of time, money and effort went in to preparing for it from all the residences.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#174

Serrie is a tradition and are in no way supporting 'rape culture'.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#182

I am apart of serrie and know of the hard work that is put into serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#187

I believe that serrie is an incredible tradition and should not be lost... There has been no clarification as to why serrie finals were cancelled which is unfair and ridiculous!! I have not worked for 3 whole months with the ultimate goal to make serrie finals to be told that it is no longer happening!! Bring back serrie!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#193

We worked way too hard for it to be a waste. We have invested every inch of energy in padsion into this year's serrie. It is unfair and cruel to strip us from this.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#195

I've put blood, sweat and tears into Serrie. I deserve to participate in something I've put so many hours into perfecting. I did not spend all the time practicing for no end product!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#196

It's a disgrace

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#197

I am against the injustice of the University of Pretoria for cancelling Serrie. #bring_back_serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)
