I'm signing because I understand from our past research activities that the Fukushima nuclear accident has irreversible effects on ecosystems and people's lives, and threatens human security.Wakana Takahashi (Utsunomiya, 2022-01-10)

it's a social and civil duty for future generations to protect the planet from nuclear waste and nuclear accidents. Moreover - our planet has a problem of overproduction and thus overconsumption of energy for production purposes, hence what we need is to actually facilitate the broad use of renewable energies and sustainable design of infrastructure, housing AND production and logistic chains. Branding nuclear energy as "green" or "sustainable" energy, endangers everyone and does little to tackle our real issues. This will only serve in securing the profits of the private energy sector.Katerina Anastasiou (Vienna, 2022-01-10)

Ms Slevin has outlined effectively the rational for signing this petition. However, I am as worried about handing Europe’s energy future to Putin.
40% of the Worlds Uranium supply comes from Kazakhstan. Russia have just flown in nearly 100 flights of “democracy” maintaining military support for a failing regime. This is the support that is visible, who knows what is there dressed as “little green men”.
My fellow European citizens will probably be hostages to fortune WRT a megalomaniac Putin with a yerning for the return of a Russian empire. Why can’t he do like Japan and Germany did after WWII and use Russia’s obvious, human intelligence to trade their way to a stable and prosperous Russia?
Soon, Europe will be caught by the short & curley’s by a Russian that wants to foment unrest in the Baltic states, Moldova, Ukraine etc where there is a Ethnic Russian population, put there during the soviet era for the purpose of planting boots on the ground.
Approx 20% of the Kazakhstan population is Ethnic Russian, mostly to the north of the country. My bet is that Putin will leverage his support of the Tokayev govt for increased integration of the ethnic Russian Kazakh population, similar to breakaway Donbas region in Ukraine.
The generation of power using Nuclear is the false path. The reduction in the use of energy is the positive path. Europe needs to set the right path by reducing embedded energy needs in our society, stop the adhoc building of data centres, (etc) and increase renewables.

only because geological disposal is the least bad solution for this, does not imply that nuclear power can suddenly be classified as a ‘green’ energy source!! it can not be considered EU Taxonomy eligible or aligned as long as the technology and fuel cycle management has not proven to be sustainable as a whole.Samira Galler (Wien, 2022-01-10)

EU wants to establish technical and enviromental standards through out the world but now without any scientific background atomic power plants and natural gas are greenwashed by lobby groups.
