I'm signing because it is not right. I don't care if they homeless where are their families, where do they cone from? What if there was no virus nobody would have bothered. So someone has not been doing their job and now make it our problem

J Fombe (Strandfontein Village, 2020-04-03)

#1006

Of my family safety thank you

Vanessa Peters (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1007

I don’t want strandfontein to become a slump.

Waheed Gaidien (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1014

For our safty

Mishka Jacobs (Strandfontien, Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1018

They should use Constantia and not Strandfontein

L Jacobs (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1019

I'm signing because there are far better city facilities that can be utilized to accommodate these homeless people in a more dignified manner.

Grant Peters (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1020

This is endangering our lives and there are many other Indoor spaces they could be

Aziza Patandin (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1022

They need to get decent accommodations out of strandfontein

E Julies (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1023

I live in strandfontein and don't need an informal settlement in the area, I am against moving all those people in one location,

Taschwill Rhode (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1024

Because when the lockdown is done then we sit with this people in awww community and then they don’t what to leave no no no

Anushca Birch (Stranfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1025

I grew up in this wonderful village. Each ward in the country should be responsible for homelessness. Not just just former or impoverished areas.

Carl De Vries (London, 2020-04-03)

#1026

The move of homeless people onto the Starndfontein sportsfields, are going to be catastrophic, and are going to have dire consequences, as the councillor Elton Jansen were jumping the gun by meetng with the mayoral committee, without the consultaion with the residents and ratepayers association

Maurice Cloete (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1029

I’m signing because I believe people need to stand together.

Charizma Arendse (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1031

As it Is we have people begging at our doors on an hourly basis...
Under what conditions will these poor people be housed on a field. IF the City is taking measures to make it suitable for Human living in terms of proper shelter and ablusion facilities then to me it sounds like a permanent displacement which will be detrimental to our Community...

Paul Prins (COCT, 2020-04-03)

#1032

I like the fields it's a great place to enjoy sports and to walk my dog

Cee-Jay Lewin (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1037

It is not fair to do wht they are doing dumping the people thr in strandfontein use the massive stadiums in the city bowl area to house the people that is whr they are from u don't c them moving the homeless from khayelitsha to capetown area they using this as a excuse to get the peeps out of capetown and make it the strandfontein community's problem.

Jethro van niekerk (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1038

I’m signing here because I believe there are other places where the 2000 people could be moved. This issue has been coming on for a long time and by this time the government could’ve had a solution. In strandfontein we are dedicated to uphold law and order especially the safety of our elderly and children and with this decision, in which we were not consulted, our situation will deteriorate.

Jarene Fouldien (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1039

Remember how it was when we had the refugees... Now to a location which guaranteed will not be controlled well in any aspect of*

Caesare Lawrence (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1041

I don't want the homeless people here is going to cause problems in my neighbourhood

Walied Manuel (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1042

This is a crazy idea and I'm against it

Portia Daniels (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1044

I'm against it!

Gary Baatjes (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1046

I dissagree with the fact that they did not consult the community

Aashiq Cosyn (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1048

We were never asked if it was okay to move these people into our area. And besides, have you seen the mess they made in the CBD??? It was so unhygenic. And where are they going to after the lockdown???? Rather move them somewhere else...

Charne Francis (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1053

Why Strandfontein sports field? There are numerous other facilities that can be utilised for. This purpose. It seems like the city likes to move it's less fortunate residents to this side of the city.

Ashique Davis (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1055

Was not informed or consulted about this at all

Ebrahim Davids (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1060

I’m signing this because I think the homeless should be housed in warehouses and community centers. In proper shelter, not tents on a field in cold and windy weather.

Lizanne Campbell (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1062

I don't want the strandfontien field used for the homeless. Ther are other places to use

Lee-anne Hess (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1064

Not suitable location!!

Mario Du Plooy (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1067

There are many places that the homeless people can be moved to, I personally don't want it to be here as the city does not prioritize our area for the clean up and also the crime that comes with having these people put here. They should be moved to bigger areas that are more monitored, privileged and prioritized. Why must it be a "coloured" area why can it not be a "white" area with so much more space to accommodate homeless people

Letano Windell (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1068

I am signing this petition because this has not been discussed nor requested with the residents of Strandfontein. By moving a large group of people into an area that has a growing crime rate is highly dangerous and it is guaranteed to increase the number of crimes that will occur in Strandfontein.

Juan-Pierre Roode (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1069

We need clear communication as to what will happen to the homeless during and after the lockdown is over.

Faeeda Almano (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1074

I AM AGAINST THIS MOVEMENT

Vincent Wilson (CAPE TOWN STRANDFONTEIN, 2020-04-03)

#1076

I'm against moving 2000 people into our area, because COCT is not known to follow through by cleaning up. My suggestion is Newland Sports field. Quicker measures will be put in place, or Cape Town stadium who has more bathroom facilities, that people can use.

Benita Bernhardt (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1081

In principle I have absolutely no problem accommodatiing the people in Strandfontein. However, it seems that there is no plan in place for what happens to all these homeless people after the lockdown. Also how was the decision made to use specifically Strandfontein for the purpose of accommodating homeless people during the lock down? All I really want is for the homeless people to be relocated away from Strandfontein after the lock down. To me this sounds like the city has a hidden agenda to permanently remove homeless people from the CBD, under the guise of regulations with regards to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Maurice Carpede (Strandfontein Village, Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1083

I'm a concerned resident

Chantel van Dalen (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1084

a big portion of the community comprise of elderly people and this could result in a health risk to them in the current situation inclusive of various other risk that which could become permanent. The damage to the sport field could not be repairable.

Grant Davids (Strandfontein Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1088

The community was not consulted and no plan has been discussed in terms of safety and security of the community and property within the community and also a plan to remove these people again from our community.I am completely against this decision and think that there are definitely alternative more suitable places to house the homeless.

Quinton Nell (Strandfontein village, 2020-04-03)

#1089

No. No. No. No. No. No..... It's our field at end of the day there's houses move them o the beach.....

Casper Vanzyl (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1090

NO!!!! To the 2000 people on Strandfontein sports field poses to much risk to the community there should be alternative venues.

Anneke Davids (Strandfontein, Capetown, 2020-04-03)

Britt Beljoi (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1093

Im signing because there are so many possible places and open fields... Why not Greenpoint stadium or somewhere in the CBD. What happens after lockdown? Then they refuse to leave the premises that brings on protesting and unnecessary commotion. We have enough drugs in this neighborhood why add more unrest and drama basically. This is wrong on so many levels the possibility of vacant lands and sports grounds. Even youngsfield. Like seriously man this is unacceptable.

Chantal Karelé (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1099

These people are going to become a problem for our community when this is all over. Every suburb has there own fields. You can spread these people among all the suburbs including the rondebosch, constantia, bergvliet, sea point, kommetjie and all the other areas. Not just the cape flats. Stop using the Cape flats for abdumoing ground!!!

Natasha Pienaar (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1100

I am against moving 2000 homeless people to Strandfontein fields

Clio Smidt (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1102

Us residents were never consulted about this craziness.. There are other areas with much bigger grounds and facilities available, yet you want to place these people like the Apartheid government did.. Let each area take care of their homeless, we already have our own to take care of.. And take some to Constantia and see if you can get it right there..***** this..

Andre Engelbrecht (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1106

Because why must it always be Strandonfontein...why was nothing discussed with us the residents of Strandonfontein

Nicole Frederiks (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1112

I am signing becos that is not the place to put the people. It is full of mice, rats, moles and snakes. It gets very cold at night. And what is going to happen when the covid 19 is over. Where are they gonna go to.
We as a community have been requesting the fields be upgraded for years. Now the City is messing it up further. Look at what happened in houtbays with that big fire. How is the city going to fix the fields. They won't even help with a club house. We asked so long for the water to be fixed after the city employees caused the problem with the water a few weeks ago. Now, they are quick to fix the water becos it suits them

Tanya Wilson (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1113

I live I I strandfontein and cannot see why they must use our place for this. Why not the rich areas or empty buildings. Stop bringing this shit to our coloured areas

Faieka Williams (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1114

The sports ground are not a healthy ground for the homeless, the night air there will case sickness and maybe Covid-19 to spread wild.

Strandfontein's water supply will become contaminated.

They won't leave after lockdown

Adrian Dyson (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1115

Look at the city of cape Town using the COVID-19 outbreak to dump the poor in already strained areas like strandfontein (Mitchell's plain area) they obviously won't be bussed back to the cbd and other fancy areas where they came from after this. Also the field is not appropriate for the poor, especially with winter approaching. They need proper shelter, there are lots of empty buildings around the fancy cape Town cbd. Accomdate the needy there

Aishah Cassiem (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1118

No residents were consulted before this decision was made and I wonder if you would do the same in Rondebosch or another leavy residence.? I guess not cause it's just going ahead already.

Jonathan Georgia (Cape Town strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1121

Homeless can be moved to other\closer Capetown ereas eg. Wynberg

Ursula Love (Capetown, 2020-04-03)

#1122

This is unacceptable as there are so many other places that can house so many people with descent facilities to accommodate all. What about Soetwater resort or Zandvlei or even Blue waters. This is a government issue! So step up and use governments facilities and let government overlook them instead of smearing there issues on us.

Donovan Smith (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1126

I'm signing because I'm sick and tired of unilateral decisions being made on my behalf flouting my rights as a resident of the area to be affected. What's wrong with using the white elephant Cape Town Stadium built with our taxes?

Goolam Adam (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1129

What guarantees do we have regarding the safety of our families during lockdown? What happens after lockdown? Does this become a permanent solution for government by overcrowding our community and what happens to the value of our properties?

Deon Ford (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1135

I live in strandfontein, the government should have discussed this with residents before deciding as this is going to have a undoubtedly negative impact on the area.

There are many other larger vacant areas that these people can be moved into closer to where they are currently.
Are these people going to pay rates and water levies?
This will undoubtedly have an increase of crime within the area, who will take ownership of this?

Moegammad Adam (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1137

I don't agree with this set up, especially since we were not consulted about it. Why Strandfontein?? There arent enough facilities on the sports field. What happenned to social distancing an no more than 100 people? Its cold and windy in the evenings why not get a community centre or a warehouse for them.

Aumerey Frans (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1138

I'm signing this firstly because I'm a resident of this community.
Secondly we as the community were not addressed to the moving of all these people. This has bad implications on showing us that the government indeed doesn't give a dam about us.
The crime rate in our area will probably more than double plus u will be removing a big part of our community events.... Please don't do this to us....
You will be over populating strandfontein

Zack Davids (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1139

I’m signing this because I am against moving the 2000 Homeslees people to stay on Strandfontein Sports Field

Jude Webb (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1141

Relocate the homeless to golf courses around the city of Cape Town. Strandfontein sports field does not have adequate ablution facilities and running water to meet the needs of people’s rights to human dignity.

Danielle Human (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1142

I do not want 200 more vagrants in my area, that we will have to deal with after the fact.

Olivia Kleinschmidt (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1147

Why Strandfontein?..why not the sports stadiums that will be able to accomodate these people...I am sympathetic to the homeless We are also tax payers and are already battling with crime and drugs in our area...Our kids can't even walk to the shops or play outside and now you want to bring people that are drug addicts etc, into our community..why don't we also have a say like the people in the more affluent areas.. We pay our rates, taxes and work hard. This Sportsground does not even proper toilets for when we have sport activities and just a few weeks ago our communities water was contaminated at these grounds and to date no proper report was given ..So how are these grounds suitable for people to stay..The cold air from the sea will affect their health and thus impact on our community especially now with this volatile situation we are in..This shows no regard for our community. There are so many other sports grounds with better conditions but that is only for the elite...this is not right!!!

Zeenetunisa Botha (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1148

I'm signing this because I was not informed of this decision taken or consulted on this matter. My concern is WHAT HAPPENS POST LOCKDOWN???

Allan Botha (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1149

I am concerned about out residents.
What if it spreads within Strandfontein !

Zaheer Brand (Cape Town Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1153

I don’t want them in our area. Don’t think it’s safe.

Waseem Abbas (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1154

I am scared that crime and infection will rise in the area and beyond

Deon Ford (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1155

Please move them elsewhere. This is something strandfontein does not need. I think I can speak for everyone when I say 'This move of 2000+ homeless people is a big *NO* from me and everyone in strandfontein village'

Taariq Khan (Capetown, 2020-04-03)

#1156

We shouldn't allow this is our area, this should be removed. We as residents are against this movement I'm sorry 🙏

Kauthar Solomons (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1158

I’m signing because I fear for my and my kids safety. I’m signing because the residents of Strandfontein were never informed of such a decision and irrespective of the directive issued to the City of Cape Town, I feel that the fields were the only place that people actually felt free on. What’ll happen if those people do not want to vacate after this lockdown is over?

Jihan Emaandien (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1162

I feel it will have a negative impact on all the residents in Strandfontein and my parents live there, I grew up ther and have Lotz of family members living there.

Tasneem Khan (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1163

Strandfontein sport field does not have the facilities to accomodate 2000 people. No clean running water or toilets for them to use. Place them at a place that can accomodate their basic human rights.

Carmen le Grange (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1165

Because why not Rondebosch or Constantia?

Ghaaleeb Damon (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1168

As a resident of strandfontein and a ratepayer i feel tjat if we allow them to squat here they definitely gonna stay here and government will do nothing. Crime rate will increase and we will have to live in fear because those people not gonna move after lockdown. The same likev7 de laan squatter camp nothing was done and look at it now.so a big no from me these people need to get alternative acvomadation .

Shireen de Lange (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#1169

I'm signing this petition because I object to having 4000 homeless housed in our area.

Megan Adendorff (Cape Gown, 2020-04-03)

#1171

I just bought property in Strandfontein and definitely don't need this

Veronique Davids (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1172

This is going to be a disaster

Alphonso Matthys (Western Cape, 2020-04-03)

#1174

I'm signing this petition as I'm fedup that our area are being used as a dumping site. A few years ago refugees were housed at the pavilion area. Now this. I'm sure that the City of Cape Town could have sourced other more adequate facilities with better infrastructure.
The infrastructure and Strandfontein sports fields are dilapidated and in a state of disrepair. The city are well aware of the conditions of the dilapidated infrastructure.

Eduard Bedja (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1177

This is unacceptable, why are we moving them across the oceans - this will create more crime in Strandfontein. We already have shitty police and the field is being used for sports.

Lyndsay Robin (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1184

Firstly, Strandfontein's Sportsfield is not suitable, there are other better equipped & situated sportsfields. Secondly, we were not consulted. Thirdly, its a recipe for disaster to our area... Definitely gonna increase the crime rate & we already struggling with way too much crime.

F. Karriem (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#1189

This is a disgusting and inhumane decision.

Erin Hartogh (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#1190

The DA's forcing 4000 vulnerable humans onto Strandfontein Sports Field which is not conducive for them.Evil undefined.

Moesfieka Davids (Cape town, 2020-04-04)

#1194

I live in Strandfontein and I’m aware that it’s not the best place to house 2000 homeless people.

Chelsea-Rose Amroodt (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#1195

This can’t happen they cannot just do something and not ask us how do we feel about it....

Ashleigh Solomons (Strandfontein, 2020-04-04)

#1196

I’m a resident of strandfontein and I am against 2000 people being moved to strandfontein because what will happen to them after lockdown

Tania Stuurman (Cape Town, 2020-04-04)

#1199

Moving the 200 Will impact and.delepte our already overburden infrastructure..schools..clinics and. Add to the traffic congestion.

Nolene Mafakala (Strandfontein, 2020-04-04)
