Strandfontein residents against moving 2000 people into the area

#801

The city does not ever do proper cleanup when everything is over, causing the start of just another squatter camp.
Our community is being deprived of the only sports field space for community events.
These people can be hosted in the leafy areas. Stop over polluting our already rundown areas which you do not look after.
It devaluates our properties.
Crime will escalate.
These squatters will become a nuisance in the area with drugs, gangster ism, prostitution, bin scratching, door to door begging and the likes.
We have had it, we pay the same taxes so why must our area be targeted for the squatters, outcasts, foreigners, genocides. Every problem that the city has, our area has to solve it. And at the end these people don't want to move out of the area. Enough is enough. Take them to the Greenpoint stadium. They will be much nearer to all amenities, toilets, fresh drinking water, etc. They are not our problem. We are struggling to make ends meet as it is. Government, look after your people properly.

Shirley Marinus (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

Because I moved to a quiet peaceful place. We r already living in a prison. Now to have 2000 more people.Do we have enough police to man our areas???

Dorothy Peters (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

#804

Because i live in strandfontein....its a small community...everyone knows everyone... and moving unfamiliar people into our area would just cause alot of unpleasantness, stress, fear and the crime rate would go up...because people(not all) will have the temptation to explore strandfontein the wrong way...
If anything out of character happens during that period, there are going to be lots of problems

Tennille Gain (Cape town, 2020-04-02)

#805

This is unacceptable and once again coloured people are being taken advantage of by being pushed aside with no consideration. Not to mention the fact that there are many other areas to choose but it just happend to be a coloured suburb.

Ruxshana Luddy (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

#806

I am against the temporary housing idea for homeless people on a soccer field. Our infrastructure cannot handle this amount of people and this area is not safe and hygienic for human settlement. This action will place our area at risk to muggings, burglary and other petty theft.

Badrodene Solomons (Cape town, 2020-04-02)

#808

There are many other vacant lands available eg the rondebosch common that could be used! What's gona happen to them after lockdown? Are they gona be moved back to the city? What other land has been identified?

Siddeeka Buffkins (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

#809

I am concerned about our safety once these people are here. They might stay once the lockdown is over and that will not be good for our neighborhood. There are already people from other informal settlements lurking in our streets, breaking into our homes and generally making our neighborhood unsafe.

Rafeeqa Lamera (Cape Town, 2020-04-02)

#810

Blikkies dorp was also temporary. I doubt the city will be able to move the people back once the lock down is done. My concern is the safety of my children. The city has been trying to get rid of the homeless for quite some time and this is an easy way out, just dump them here in Strandfontein. How do you manage an additional 4000 people here after with 2 police vans?

Jasmine Paulsen (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#811

I'm signing becoz goveement can't just move people where thy see fit . why not move those people to table view, ,kuilsriver, durbanville. All those areas have wide spaces an plots .bit the government are taking our people for fools.so no to that move .#dontmakeourseashoreaneyesore

Mogamat yusrie Cornelius (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#812

I don't see them moving the people away here after the lock down. The people is just being dumped here. We already have no recreational facilities in our area and now we won't be able to use the sports field as well. The only thing we have will be messed up now.

Ashley Paulsen (Strandfontein, Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#814

I live in Strandfontein and we hardly have the resources to keep us paying residents safe. Why cant they be placed in COCT guest houses or halls

Ruwhal Frantz (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#817

Once again the City of Cape Town shows it's true colours! I mean how many sports fields are there in the Western Cape, why relocate to the poorer communities who already always at the back end of service delivery in the Cape! Segregation, apartheid is sadly so evident in Western Cape

Fazeela Salie (Belgravia, 2020-04-03)

#818

There are better sites that they can house the homeless

Bradley Sutton (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#820

I grew up in strandfontein the da has done nothing good for our community sick and tired of outsiders making stupid decisions for us to further their political agendas

Cherie basadien (cape town, 2020-04-03)

#821

Why relocate them from affluent areas to non affluent area, while there is a huge stadium at Greenpoint with toilet facilities and running water. What does Goverment think is going after lock down. They just going to let these people integrate into our area where we already have homeless people. Our crime rate will increase and the value of our property will decrease.
Absolutely NO

Jasmina Botha (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#822

I have been living in this peaceful little seaside place for more than 20 years. We in the area are already struggling with people moving through our place from tafelsig and rocklands. Please dont move those people to our town

Whalieka Abrahams (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#823

I am totally against this relocation. Why them from affluent areas to non affluent area, while there is a huge stadium at Greenpoint with toilet facilities and running water. What does Goverment think is going after lock down. They just going to let these people integrate into our area where we already have an increase of homeless people. Our crime rate will increase and the value of our property will decrease.
Absolutely NO

#825

No representation

Adrian Van Der Berg (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#826

I am not happy about this decision at all.

Candice Lewin (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#828

This will become permanent. The end game was always to move the poor to this area and develop the sports field. The DA is now using this opportunity to further their agenda.

Justin Dido (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#829

Currently services in our area is lacking. Many issues are not addressed by our Ward Councillor.

We have not been consulted about this plan. We as rate payers have the right to have been included in this decision making.

Our area lack infrastructure fir the current residents. How is this extra 2000 people going to impact on our resources.

Our roads is a nightmare. More traffic and more air pollution.

I do not agree with this decision. The COCT need to have respect for their citizens.

Lydia Martin (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#833

We as the community was not consulted and we want these people moving here its gonna be a big problem for the community to deal there is open space in rondebosch and constantia where they can be moved to

Wayne Kader (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#834

This is gonna have a major effect on the strandfontein community as when this lockdown is over where is al that people going to.

Ashraf Moos (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#837

Sure to this being unfair practice. There are 2 squatters which were told would be monitored and won't grow. Well it's growing. We cannot house more people.

Hilton Jordaan (Cape-town, 2020-04-03)

#838

As Ratepayers Strandfontein residents should be respected enough to be consulted on Affairs pertaining to Strandfontein. Strandfontein is also a very cold and windy place which doesn't make it a good option for people to be housed in tents which shows me that those who made this decision did not have the wellbeing of Strandfontein residents or the homeless people in mind.

Bernadette Oostendorp (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#841

There are not enough ablution facilities.

Mervyn Eyden (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#842

I have the well being of many family and friends at heart.

Tracey Byron (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#843

No proper consultation was done with the residents of tmStrandfontein. My concern is security in am already dense population struggling with crime and security as it is. Although the sports field is closed due to lockdown it's the only recreational space in Strnadfontein for our kids
What happens whe the lockdown is lifted what then.

Marlon Botman (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#845

Not a well thought out plan.
Why can't they house this people in places like thr Goodhope Centre instead of tents. Winter is approaching.

Why specifically Mitchell's Plain and no other area?

This is their perfect opportunity to get these people out of the cbd

Wisahl Salie (Mitchell's plain, 2020-04-03)

#852

This is unfair. So many more suitable sites are passed during the commute to the proposed site.

Do the right thing COCT.

Lindsay Forbes (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#858

The method in which government has conducted itself and i fear for what is to become of our community as there is so much crime already and its unfair and unhealthy to raise children in a struggling community and still enforce thousands of homeless people from mostly crime backgrounds

Marlin Gamanie (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#859

Don't want those people here

Nabeal Roberts (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#860

Overcrowding the area which is already facing drug and gangsterism because of the informal settlement called 7de Laan. People are also staying in the bushes in the north side of and the area that are causing lots of trouble eg. Robbing etc. Green point Stadium and the Cape Town Stadium can be used for occupation.

Joan Fourie (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#862

I’m signing because it’s not fair to us and our area as we already victims of crime so no.

Fabian Bull (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#863

I am truly concerned that my and my family safety has been compromised, and that this will become a permanent haven for these people. It is irresponsible of the City not to share the burden with other areas within the Cape Metropol.

I am signing because if people move into strandfontien area the area will be come mess up and so will the sounding area will get damaged as well it is not a suitable idea to move people in, they might not want to leave when it is time to leave

Aziza Bibi Khan (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#874

I'm against the homeless people moving on to the strand fontein sports field... We use that field for our sports recreational purposes and it also leave us a threat of burglary... People roaming our area for food... Drugs... And also will bring down the value of our properties... And we know you say it's temporary... Come now we know you want seapoint areas empty so the whites can have a better area to live in.... No no no.... We pay damn rates man to live here and work hard.

Shanaaz Williams Hattas (Pelican Heights, 2020-04-03)

#875

It's hard enough having to deal with crime in our areas. Adding to it makes 2000 extra people our responsibility. A responsibility the Govt doesnt even want to acknowledge until it suits them and who's financial burden if will become as tax and rates, water and sanitation payers

Fatimah Davids (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#876

We dont 2000 more problems in Strandfontein..
What is the counselor Mr. Elton Jansen doing about this

Rabeyah Islam (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#877

No definite survey or community census was reach Ito the before and after covert 19 dasaster relocation of the homeless... Nogals thousands. Explain sanitation.. Hygiene.. Control of movement.. Social distance.. Daily domestic and welfare.. Conflict and crime.. Food security.. Medical assistance. Daily medication. Who's controlling the drug habits and substance abusers. The list is endless. Were other areas and residents approach. Where and from which areas are these homeless people coming from. What is in place to restore the area to the original condition and state. What democratic right do we have as loyal law abiding citizens and taxpayers. Or is this just a rediculious prank and we are all going to wake up soon.

Sameul Winston Cupido (Western Cape, 2020-04-03)

#882

I own property in the area an this is going to depreciate my property not to mention the safety of my family.

Azzaam Adams (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#883

This is our community sports field in existence for over 40yrs if the homeless are going to be a permanent fixture what is going to happen to our children sports crime will be up.

Charlene Henry (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#890

We don't need more ppl in Strandfontein. Traffick is hugely problematic out and into Strandfontein, especially in peak traffick

Nadia Jacobs (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#891

I'm against with the moving in of 2000 people to Strandfontein

Leon Herbert (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#892

I’m concerned about the placement of these homeless on a sports field are as follows:
1 Secured proper health sanitation and social distancing
2 Self Quarantined for the suspected and those tested positive
3. Social distancing will extra space be provided for self Quarantine and medical facilities on premises
4. The homeless are immuno compromised
Vulnerable to chest infections mental health issues and don’t have the resources and the finance to treat and supper themselves with lock down
5 .Will food be provided for them on a daily basis And be guarded not to leave the facilities
6. Where will this homeless be placed after lock down is this plan put in place already

The Government has far more we’ll equipped facilities in influent areas that these homeless people can be placed thats not in use at present

As per Gazetted it’s temporary placement so these empty facilities can be used
Place them in areas that well equipped
Schools can be used
Community halls
Green point stadium more toilets
Old Hotels
So many that government can use
Why not place them in those secured covered areas such as Rondebosch easier acces to hospitals in Goodwood

6. My major concern is
How is safe isolation going to be implemented extra space and social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus

7. Will medical resources be available on site
8. Will they be equipped with proper hygiene facilities

The community don’t have Medical resources at present

Please keep the homeless and community safe
Take proper care of the homeless

Shameega Emjedi (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#921

Even though it is a act of kindness, how do you just dump people in community , not expecting them to move around and wonder , eventually wonder streets in months to come

Calvin Ross (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#925

It is very unfair to move these people here without consulting with us living here in Strandfontein. I understand that we have a crisis here in Cape Town but why can't these people not be moved to Newlands Sportfield where there is more than enough space. We as the coloured people living here in Strandfontein have already overcrowded people living in the backyards. Our crime rate is extremely high in Strandfontein due to drug addictions etc.We are already not feeling safe living here in Strandfontein and now you want to move these people here to Strandfontein. What about our elderly people living here. Most of us are working. How safe is Strandfontein gonna be. Why not move them to Constantia or Tokai Forest . What do you think will happen to the crime rate here in Strandfontein. Hell no man. It's always our coloured people that must suffer the consequences.

#933

I live in strandfontein & if cannot even look after our own community then how can we look after visitors. We don't have enough patrol vans & how will this benefit an already struggling community?

Rene Christians (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#934

Strandfontein has come a long way with regards to battling the use of drugs and danger , this will set us back and increase the crime activities putting the current residents at risk.

Sandy Johnson (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#937

No i do not agree.Goverment have a sports grounds that is secured, can be controled by the authorities to make sure they are being looked after properly.

My reason for me say no and why not turn it into a turf as i see all other places arpund strandftein have why not do that instead .Placing isnt the problem.Lazy and unfairness is the problem. Our government should stop thinling we dont exist and my goodness Hello South Africa we Latinos also exist.

Kind Regards

#940

I do not approve of these people emerging into our suburbs. They have no right and I do not feel that it is right

Ashwin Glover (City of Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#942

The city will not look after the wellbeing of residents during this time of uncertainty. Policing and health facilities will not be suffice for all and this movement should be stopped

Clint Roberts (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#945

I'm signing because I reside in Strandfontein and think that this is totally appalling. Strandfontein will now become a hub for more criminal activities. What is the stance on the water issue that was previously contaminated because of thisbsaid sports field that didn't have adequate facilities. Totally against the homeless being moved to strandfontein sports field. You going to have a problem with getting them off the field. Why not house them on Athlone stadium, vygieskraal or Green Point Stadium, I'm sure those are big enough to house them.

Quarnita Dantu (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

#946

This matter wasnt discussed with strandfontrin residence. And im staying alone in my house my safety is my concern because house breakings is defntly gonna happen in our area

Liezle Windvogel (Capetown, 2020-04-03)

#948

It will have a definate negative effect on the quality of the residents of the emmediate surrounding areas. There is a lot of ope space in Constantia as well... Lawfully if that people stay for 48hrs they must stay unless alternative place is found for them

Nuzam Ismail (Cape Tiwn, 2020-04-03)

#949

The City has proven before that they never live up to their promises, there are many grounds closer to the city that can be used even golf courses that are much bigger. Our areas are always the "only" solution. Please reconsider!

Donovan Patrick (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#952

The field is inhumane, cold, snakes, was the centre of cross contamination etc. This place is already congested, have an informal settlement and 1 police van to patrol 3 sub areas.

Zayaana Janodien (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#955

There must be a better solution

Amanda Lawrence (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#957

I live in strandfontein. And although I care about what happens to the homeless I am more concerned about the conditions they will be living in. Makes no sense to being homeless people frona different ares to live in the cold open space which is riddled with jerbals and snakes, no facilities to wash or no fresh water available. What is the cities plan after this lockdown period. What's going to happen to these people.

MICHELLE Wareley (Strandfontein, 2020-04-03)

Cheslyn Hans (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#967

I am concerned about the outcome after the pandemic clears, Strandfontein has always been overlooked when it comes to constructive developments, instead it's become a dumping ground which deteriorates the area even more.

Ainsley Olivier (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#971

I believe that the move is inhumane. The facility is not equipped to house the homeless. I suggest Cape Town Stadium or another more suitable facility.

Wendy Diener (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#972

That field is to cold

Labeeqah Martin (Strandfontein Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#975

There are many venues with set ablution facilities that the city can use. But they seem to want these ppl out of sight.

Nadiema Alexander (cape town, 2020-04-03)

#979

I am not in favour of what is happening here, with all due respect to the homeless but our crime level will increase and we have a responsibllity to protect our families and property and the right to freedom of choice, which I think is violating our rights to freedom and security.there is such a lot of open land where this people can be accomodated, but no they want to escalate and already out of control problem.(crime and drugs)the people making this decision won't want this on there own doorsteps, the security that you are speaking about will just be for now and how are you going to control it. The homeless in town that you gave tents to are already moaning of not being fed properly and no washing facilities and the comments that came from those people are scary and we can't afford to have that kind of threads made to us as ratepayers of this community. We will have people knocking on our doors and scratching in our bins and bringing all kinds of sickness into our community which can harm our health.in the old end then you that put them here won't be able to evict them because of your own shit laws and then its not going to be your problem but ours, and you really need to consider this.

Lynette Meyer (Pelican heights Cape town, 2020-04-03)

I don't have faith that the city of Cape town will run this project properly. I am certain there will be problems during and after, maybe even long after this crisis.

Rhidian De Lilly (Cape town, 2020-04-03)

#987

A sports field without ablution facilities or adequate shelter is a breeding ground for social and health-related issues. This is not okay. The community of Strandfontein deserves transparent consultation about such decisions. BTW Where is Elton?

Jill Wilkenson (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#988

This decision unjust and nobody consulted me.

Strandfontein residents were informed beforehand about this plan. I don't feel safe in my own neighbourhood. What is the exit strategy for after the lockdown?

Amanda Carpede (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#994

I'm signing because I just do not think that is visible for everyone. There not proper living conditions available for theses people. And the are going to start roam through the areas spreading the virus into on neighborhood. Please I beg of the government not to move them here we just cannot have these here please I'm thinking of the families in this area

Dominique Koen (Cape Town, 2020-04-03)

#1000

I'm concerned for my and my families safety in and around our community as I'm well aware that the government will be unable to relocate this people after the lockdown... I fear strandfonteins squatter camps are going to grow even bigger..

I dknt see why they didn't use one of the many empty stadiums that's not being used or an actual camp site that would actually have the proper facilities for these people that they "care" about...
