I often use this crossing. It is a dangerous crossing. Many factors contribute:1. Visibility is an issue when turning into Wingatepark, coming from direction Delmas.
2. Turning across trafic into the Delmas road from either sides is risky due to the wide crossing.
3. Speed control is necessary to discourage drivers from skipping the red lights.
4. It is challenging for pedestrians to cross, especially the Delmas road.

I believe that something should be done with regards to the speeding around our schools. Innocent people, including children pay the cost of people willfully not obeying our law with their lives. This cost is too great for any person to pay.Marné Van Heerden (Pretoria, 2019-11-26)

Road safety for our children should be a priority, and not a luxury.... the death of one small little child in such a horrible accident should NEVER have happened....Karin Van den Berg (Pretoria, 2019-11-26)

There are too many accidents at that intersection. Now with a young life gone it went too far. Red traffic lights are ignored. Speed limits are ignored. Value of another life is ignored.Terry Van Zyl (Pretoria, 2019-11-26)

I am signing this petition because no child nor adult should ever loose their life because of an accident that could have been avoided.Alida De Witt (Pretoria, 2019-11-26)

I'm signing because I grew up in Elardus Park. I have traversed this intersection while growing up, and I still do regularly. This intersection has been outright dangerous for many many years and it is a tragedy that nothing has ever been done to address this. The greatest tragedy is that a young girl, with a bright future, had to be torn away from all who love her on this intersection that was dangerous fifteen years ago already and has only gotten worse.Hannetjie Minnaar (Midstream, 2019-11-26)

The little girl , Sharlon Aphane that was killed in that intersection, was a learner at my children’s school. We want to make sure that this never happens again. People need to be careful when crossing that intersection because lots of people skip the red light. Please do something about this!!!Christine Raath (Pretori, 2019-11-26)

We need to safeguard our community against people speeding and putting people’s life at risk. Like the school child that was run over last week and passed awayZettie Erasmus (Pretoria, 2019-11-26)

The intersection of Delmas and barnard street is extremely dangerous and I have witnessed several accidents there. The visibility is poor if you want to turn and often trucks are blocking the road or speeding. Because there is almost always congestion, people take chances and drive irrisponsiblyMagda Viljoen (Pretoria, 2019-11-27)

The drivers don't abide to the speed. They also skip red lights, at the crossing. They don't look out for pedestrians at the crossing when they turn at the crossing.Christa Van Wyk (Pretoria, 2019-11-27)

I drive past that intersection everyday of my life. You can never just go over when its green you always have to stop and wait for other driver who fail to stop at the red lights especially taxis. May we please have some speed humps , cameras or traffic cops day and night at this intersection. Sharlon's life is one to many.Jeanine Castelyn (Elarduspark, 2019-11-27)

There was a traffic officer every morning and afternoon when I moved in Wingatepark 24 years ago to help children over that crossing. I find that lots of people skip or chase over that crossing.Susan Wassenaar (Pretoria, 2019-11-27)

Children's safety must always come first. An intersection with a major feeder road such as Delmas crossing a small suburban street such as Barnard, next to a very busy shopping centre and close to a primary school requires ADDITIONAL safety measuresLidia Pretorius (Pretoria, 2019-11-27)

The taxis and delivery vehicles as well as trucks using this alternative route never if ever stop or slow down when the when the traffic lights arent indicating a green light. The taxis migrate into the 1st-3rd whilst the lights command they remain BEHIND the thick white line. AARTO is doomed to failure because law-enforcement does not exist and this innocent child is directly an inexcusable a symptom of a failed society.KEVIN SMITH (PRETORIA, 2019-11-28)
