Change back graduation to Sept 2020 not Feb 2021!

My daughter has worked so hard and deserves the ceremony on the Hoe, along with all the other students

(Bodmin, 2019-05-22)

#809

Many Optometry students are also upset about this. So long to wait and many of my friends have said they won't come back for it.

It's descusting to be honest, nurses are a must to the NHS,
Where would we be without them

(Cornwall, 2019-05-22)

I am signing this petition because I finish my degree at the end of May 2020 and the university is proposing I graduate 8 and a half months later.. I would like to celebrate my achievement at the point I achieve it! It is disappointing not to be at the Hoe.. however I understand some compromise will need to be met. After being told I would graduate on the Hoe when accepting my offer at Plymouth university it seems unfair for this to be taken away without discussion or warning.

I am a second year Optometry student with Plymouth, therefore this will affect me. I think it ridiculous to make the graduating year wait months, into the next year, to graduate. By this time many of the graduates will not be able to attend due to work commitments. We would have all worked so hard by that point to complete our degrees, it’s unfair to make us wait to celebrate graduating.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#817

I am an optometry student who will be graduating 6 months after all my peers in other uni’s!

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#821

This is simply not fair. If we graduate in 2020, our graduation send off needs to take place at the same time. This is going to inconvience thousands of students and we have paid enough to the university. This will also delay our job opportunities also

(PLYMOUTH, 2019-05-22)

#824

I'm from Exeter originally and Exonians would treat their graduates better than this

(St teath, 2019-05-22)

#831

Because after 3 years hard work they shouldn’t make the students wait

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#836

My sister is absolutely gutted about this decision when she has worked soooo hard at uni.

#845

I am signing because I am a social work student and have worked my ass off and want to graduate in September and on the hoe! Which is a selling point on the university!!

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#846

Play fair!

(United kingdom, 2019-05-22)

#851

It is ridiculous that common sense cannot be used and the graduation moved by 1 week.
These students have worked so hard and it is disgraceful that they cannot have their graduation at the right time.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#858

A lot of students deserve their graduation after they graduate and not 6 mrs later

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#866

It’s completely ridiculous we’re being forced to graduated MONTHS after we actually should have been, in a grey building compared to the Hoe, where EVERYONE ELSE has graduated. It’s completely ridiculous

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#868

I’m signing this because I study Social Work and this will be affecting our graduation also ☹️

(Cornwall, 2019-05-22)

#872

This is not right... what an absolute joke.. graduation is supposed to be important

(St.austell, 2019-05-22)

#876

I am a BA Social work student. My graduation has been moved to february 2021 also.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#883

Because people shouldn’t wait six months to graduate,

(Lincoln, 2019-05-22)

#884

Plymouth needs to embrace Plymouth Sound & The Hoe and showcase it at every opportunity

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#885

As a cohort we’ve worked so hard and should be able to celebrate this with our peers at the time- not six months after.

(Cornwall, 2019-05-22)

#887

It should be 2020

(Cornwall, 2019-05-22)

#892

There is no logical and fair need to postpone graduation and appreciation of success due to venue restriction...shameful, demotivating and self effacing decision, very sad.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-22)

#897

it should bekept on the hoe the priority should be for the residents and students who live in this city not once in a lifetime vistors as usual with this council its all about getting a fast buck

(PLYMOUTH, 2019-05-22)

#899

It affects me, we were sold by Plymouth university about graduation on the hoe

(Somerset, 2019-05-23)

#901

Nursing student... massively disagree with how they’ve dealt with the situation! Would love for it to be changed back to September!

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#905

We have earnt and paid for the right to graduate when we finish...surely it is important to remember the Mayflower celebrations as well as keep other traditions...graduating on the hoe is a long standing tradition in Plymouth.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#918

Graduation is a once in a lifetime event for many and is the culmination of years of hard work. To cheapen this by holding the event 9 months after finishing the course and to not continue the tradition of having it on the Hoe, cheapens the efforts of those graduating. Please reconsider your position.

(Ashburton, 2019-05-23)

#920

Make the students graduation oart of the Mayflower Celebrations. What better way to celebrate the past of the city by show casing the future.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#922

Why should students wait after so many years of learning - then you want them to work in an NHS which is underpaid. Disgraceful.

(Truro, 2019-05-23)

#925

Shelley is a legend

(St Austell, 2019-05-23)

#929

Because everyone should get to graduate with the same promised location and be able to have all their family members present

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#933

I’m signing because, as a graduate (and a post graduate), I completely agree that to wait until February for graduation is completely unreasonable. Those poor students will feel like they have worked hard and have had no recognition for it. It’s unfair!

(Darwen, 2019-05-23)

#935

Class of 2020 should not be denied the same experience as every other graduate of having the graduation ceremony on the Hoe. Whilst it may mean more work and logistics, changing the date to avoid the Mayflower celebrations is possible. We've paid the university a lot of money and put ourselves in hock for life, we deserve to have our graduation in the time honoured place of the Hoe.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#936

After 3 years of studying these students deserve to graduate

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#937

I'm signing because these students have worked too hard and too long for their celebration to be postponed based on another celebration. There are plenty of spaces around Plymouth to host graduation!

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#941

I'm signing this petition because I'd really like to graduate the same year I qualify. The first year of nurses who have had to pay their tuition fees I think we deserve some recognition.

(Paignton, 2019-05-23)

#945

I feel very passionately about this graduation change. I think it’s disgusting that throughout the degree we have been continuously let down and now we don’t even get to celebrate leaving on the hoe.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#946

What better way to celebrate the Mayflower than to honour the individuals on the start of their own journey?

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#957

Why push it further away!?

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#959

Every Plymouth University student should be able to celebrate their graduation on the Hoe. The Hoe is the pride of Plymouth, images of it appearing on university marketing including its website. Graduation anywhere else would be a huge disappointment to those who have worked so hard for their academic success.

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#964

We shouldn’t have to wait 6 months to graduate!

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#967

The hoe is iconic and best for the group photo, it seems like such a waste to not hold it there

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#970

Please change our graduation back to the year we finish out degree!

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#972

I'm signing on behalf of my grandaughter who will be one of the graduates affected. Please don't make these students wait after all their hard work and achievements.

(London, 2019-05-23)

#979

My daughter is one of the students that will be graduating and it is so unfair to make them wait after all their hard work.

(Newton abbot, 2019-05-23)

#980

My friends will be graduating next year and i do not think it is right for them to have to wait 6 months to graduate! Its unfair on them

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#986

I find it unfair that we should have to graduate so much later, meaning that family I wanted to come to my graduation may now not be able to attend

(Plymouth, 2019-05-23)

#993

Ridiculous changing this form September. Change the Venue if really needed but the delaying it by 6 months is unfair on everyone who has worked so hard for three years because of cuts! Ridiculous. Graduates want to get dolled up to celebrate their hard work but won’t happen with a winter graduation in an awful location . Unfair . You should not be advertising graduation on the hoe in pictures and through open days if there is a glimpse it might not be possible!!

(Exeter, 2019-05-23)

#998

I’m signing this because I think after all the hard work that the student nurses put in to qualify they deserve to have a graduation.
