A Central High School senior denied to walk at graduation.

He deserves to walk. Don’t punish this senior over another child’s actions. He’s allowed to defend himself

Bri Black (Columbia, 2024-05-18)

#602

This student had to work hard to be able to graduate. Plus he played sports and represented out town. Any student that works this hard should have the opportunity to walk at graduation!! Please allow him this right. It’s only fair to allow this after he had to keep his grades up to play ball and represent our town!! Don’t break his heart or his parents hearts for this opportunity. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for his exit from High School. It’s something he’s worked hard and earned!!

Rhonda Martinez (Pageland, 2024-05-18)

#603

Zero tolerance doesn't apply. Do the right thing and allow this you man to participate in his graduation ceremony

Joel Blakeney (Jefferson, 2024-05-18)

#605

This is ridiculous!! He deserves to walk across the stage to receive the diploma he earned !

Christy Harrison (Monroe, 2024-05-18)

#611

Let that boy walk he deserves to walk across that stage just like everyone else in that school just because of one little incident that wasn’t even his doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to sit by while other walk across that stage

Patricia Hill (Jefferson, 2024-05-18)

#613

HE DESERVES TO WALK!

Alexus Miller (Pageland, 2024-05-18)

#614

He should be allowed to walk. Keep the trouble kid out of school

Tara Massey (Mt croghan, 2024-05-18)

#616

I’m signing because as a central high school alum(2016) it’s disgusting and ridiculous to not allow someone who has spent 4 years of him life to not celebrate with his peers and family. Let this young king walk !

Imani Lowery (Washington, 2024-05-18)

#617

I’m signing this, being a 2024 graduate myself and being very into my school and getting good grades. This is unacceptable, Wilson should be able to walk. It was obviously the other kids fault and there is so much against the other kid, so it shouldn’t affect Wilson AT ALL!

Caroline Helms (Marshville, 2024-05-18)

#620

He is a good kid who made a mistake. As we all do. Don’t deny this young man something he has worked years for!

Julie Deese (Pageland, 2024-05-18)

#622

Because that's my family and he had a right to defend himself

Karen Wilson (Cheraw, 2024-05-18)

#624

This young man deserves a chance knowing all the work he’s put in

Jordan Caldwell (Pageland, 2024-05-18)

#627

This is a once and a lifetime opportunity. A mistake shouldn't prevent a child from participating in a major milestone such as graduation. It's cruel.

Kayla Hubbard (Myrtle Beach, 2024-05-18)

#628

I’m signing because this child deserves the opportunity to walk with his class this is a once in a life time experience.

Angelica Smith (Wadesboro, 2024-05-18)

#629

he deserves to walk, after all the hard work he has put in this school year.

serenity mcclain (Jefferson, 2024-05-18)

#630

Let this kid walk! It's a sad day when you get punished defending yourself!

Jan Wright (Peachland, 2024-05-18)

#631

He deserves to walk. He didn't start the fight.

Michele Smith (Monroe, 2024-05-18)

#636

This young man has done everything right during his school years. You should take in account that since he has no record of violence or getting in any trouble and has been a model student and athlete. He needs to walk with his class and go out into this already hard world and continue to be successful. As a school district and authority figure you always want your students to graduate high school receive their diploma and be something in their life and this young man is a perfect example of what that is so please let him walk with his class that he has been with for 12 years of his life. Let his family experience the joy of him receiving his diploma and let him go out into this world and be success and you as a school district and principal be proud of that like his teachers fellow students and family is already proud of him.

Glenn Gainey (Charlotte, 2024-05-18)

#649

This should have been sent to the school board for a vote. The principal should not be able to make this decision. This young man should be able to walk if he didn't provoke the fight. I don't know anyone that's not going to protect themselves.

Chrishawnda Bostic (Darlington, 2024-05-18)

#651

Not fair

Juan Carrizales (Jefferson, 2024-05-18)

#653

This young man has worked very hard to get to his achievements such as graduation. He is a student athlete. A student first. An athlete second. Meaning he has always been smart. The grades were already there. He's never been a problem child or a bully.

Chifvon Quick (Cheraw, 2024-05-18)

#657

He was defending himself.

Irene Disher (Kingstree, 2024-05-18)

#659

It’s unacceptable that we as a people cannot defend ourselves against a tyrant. Why should this young man be punished for defending himself?

Shayla McIlwain (Camden, 2024-05-18)

#663

I feel the student should be able to walk his academic & athletic history speak for itself. I'm sure the other students background does the same.

Annette Fling (Florence, 2024-05-18)

#664

Right Is Right And Wrong Is Wrong and if he didn't hit first then he was defending himself and the school system is wrong for this one.

Tonetta Stevenson (Statesville, 2024-05-18)

#669

I'm so sorry. But you earned the right for learning and the right to graduate. Let him walk. Let him walk. Let him walk.

Lisa Knight (Jefferson, 2024-05-18)

#670

It’s right , if he was defending himself that’s common sense we shouldn’t even have to do this , nor should he be having to go through this

Quanisha Black (jefferson, 2024-05-18)

#674

Everyone deserves to have this moment!!

Madison Lovings (Lancaster, 2024-05-18)

#675

Denorris Wilson was defending his self, this was the first time he have had any altercation, and he have been an awesome student. There is no doubt he should be able to walk across that stage for his graduation. Give him his rewards that he have worked so hard for the last four years. Don't Denorris deserved a second chance like other students have already gotten?

Sheila Dogans (El Paso, 2024-05-18)

#695

i’m signing because you should let him walk, I see absolutely no reason why he shouldn’t be allowed to. this is insane

Courtney cone (Patrick AFB, 2024-05-19)

#698

The student did not start the fight and did fend himself after being hit first

Christina Deviney (Monroe, 2024-05-19)

#699

I’m signing because this students deserves to walk. If the other student was given another chance to come back to school, then why can’t this senior walk for his accomplishments. Some of the harsh rules are forced on the wrong students and it’s sad.

Kashundra Watson (Cheraw, 2024-05-19)

#706

I'm signing this petition because everyone has the right to defend themselves. You should not be punish for doing so

Sherman Sturdivant (Wadesboro, 2024-05-19)

#707

He only was protecting himself and it was just a quick reflex

Christan Brown (Cheraw, 2024-05-19)

#710

This young man deserves to walk. This it outrageous when it is PROVEN that he was not the aggressor.

LaToya McGuinn (Cheraw, 2024-05-19)

#711

Unfair Treatment

Tijah Robinson (Pageland, 2024-05-19)

#712

This student had no previous disciplinary history and deserves to walk.

Michell Freeman (Bennettsville, 2024-05-19)

#717

I am signing this because I believe defending yourself should never be something we punish our children for! He has been an outstanding student and the only time he’s been reprimanded is because he stood up for himself! Let this young man walk across that stage and get what he earned!

Ashley Presnell (Chesterfield, 2024-05-19)

#718

He should be able to walk!!!!

Sharnice Kennedy (Lumberton, 2024-05-19)

#720

I have a brown skin son!!! My son is now serving in the United States Marines. My daughter is also a graduate of the class of 2024 and has decided to insist in the US Navy they both come from a single parent home. This is not what this kids need to be shown that it's ok to work this hard and not able to walk into their next chapter of success.

Milisa Thompson (Columbia, 2024-05-19)

#723

He was defending himself.

Chelsea Saxon (Lancaster, 2024-05-19)

#729

HE DESERVES TO WALK!

Katherine Ponce (Jefferson, 2024-05-20)

#734

Das my lil brother and he deserves a second chance thas messed up frl when all he was doin was defending his self

Nizar Williams (Chesterfield, 2024-05-20)

#736

He should be able to walk! Our kids need to be able to defend themselves in this messed up world and not letting him walk is sickening!

Jessica Cook (Jefferson, 2024-05-20)

#738

I'm signing because the principal should let this young man walk!

Olivia Vaughn (Cheraw, 2024-05-20)

#741

I believe he should be able to walk at his graduation. He was not the aggressor and was only defending himself.

Brianna Ellington (Horizon City, 2024-05-20)

#742

He DESERVED to walk!!! Period!

Da-Nay Macklin (Monroe, 2024-05-20)

#755

He deserves this. One of the biggest moments in his life should not be taken away from him. I understand how you may feel but he dedicated his life to school just to walk across that stage. Everyone, and I mean everyone that goes thru 13yrs of school, elevation their skills everyday of the year deserves this.

Rolando Wilson (Cheraw, 2024-05-20)

#763

The video, his character as a student & athlete should speak for itself. Why would anyone especially a principal prevent a student from attending and celebrating a milestone that he earned? Those who are on the school board that have been elected and should be to representing the minority community we are watching!!!!

Louisea Bracey (Pageland, 2024-05-20)

#772

He should walk on stage because he was defending himself

Johnny Hendrix (Jefferson, 2024-05-21)

#773

I’m signing this because I strongly believe this young man deserves to walk at this graduation! This states that he was defending himself!! Aren’t we teaching our children to STAND UP for themselves!? When reading, it was stated that he has not been in any trouble prior to this. I pray that the district steps in and handles this properly and Not deny this young man his right to walk with his class! No one is perfect and we don’t do everything right but denying him this opportunity is indeed, very wrong and unfair!

Kayla Gainey (Jefferson, 2024-05-21)

#774

I’m signing this petition because graduating high school seems to be an easy feat, however as class of 2020 I know several peers who did not make it. It is an honor to walk the stage and receive that diploma. Walking the stage makes all four years of embarrassment, discomfort, and determination obsolete and solidifies self image. Everyone whom has proven themselves to worthy of a diploma deserves their right to receive it honorably, especially this individual whom with one indiscretion. Taking this right to be honored is an overshadow to his entire high school career. It truly it not right for this young man to miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity after working so hard all these years.

Jackie Martin (Chesterfield, 2024-05-21)

#776

Sometimes you can only take so much and this kid has worked hard for 4 years for another troubled child to take it away from him, no, he deserves to walk.

Elaine Robertson (Pageland, 2024-05-21)

#779

After reading the narrative, this young
man showed accountability for his actions, even though he was the one who was hit first. Also, he has accomplished so much throughout his years of school and seems to have a bright future ahead. He made one mistake, yes, but he should not be denied the right to walk.

Crystal Purvis (Columbia, 2024-05-21)

#781

His record while attending HS speaks for itself and him😊

Eileen Piscatelli (Monroe, 2024-05-21)

#785

defending yourself when someone hits you and getting denied the opportunity to walk across a stage that you’ll never get back is ridiculous. This is coming from a student that graduated in 2020 DURING COVID, y’all need to let him walk and let him enjoy the last few moments of high school as he can while he can at that.

Andrea’ Chambers (Jefferson, 2024-05-21)

#786

I’m writing because don’t even know the boy but Mr Wilson should at least be able to walk and get his diploma and leave then if he needs to it seems like he was trying to apologize and leave the situation why would you not give him this opportunity that he has waited for all his life the principal is very wrong in my opinion and maybe ask the school board if he can walk his last time as a high school student I say this is a terrible decision to punish him to this degree sincerely Crystal

Crystal Wilson (Kershaw, 2024-05-21)

#788

I’m signing this petition because this young man has earned his place to walk across the stage. It takes a village to raise a child and one person shouldn’t stop him from doing so. Principal you have not been perfect during your life have you? No matter the incident, mistakes happy but don’t deny him this important milestone in his life.

Stephanie Digirolamo (New Bern, 2024-05-21)

#791

Principals need to stop making examples of the wrong students.

Dillard Jill Cruz (Rockingham, 2024-05-21)

#794

He should be able to walk especially when this isn't normal behavior

Natasha Brazzell (Lancaster, 2024-05-21)

#797

I'm signing this petition because I feel the zero tolerance policy is often unjust and every student has a right to defend themselves once attacked. I am a retired teacher with over 30 years experience and have seen first hand innocent students being disciplined after protecting themselves from an attack.

Gayle Goss (MYRTLE BEACH, 2024-05-21)

#798

He should be able to walk he did the work let the child walk
