Preserve NYC Employees' (Active & Retired) Healthcare

I'm for Medicare-for-All-Single Payer, but for now am willing to stay with my current health plan and Medicare, untainted. I am definitely *against* Medicare Advantage Plan or similar healthcare for-mega-profit scam.

Walter Paul (New York, 2022-04-08)

We need to preserve our Health Care benefits. City Retirees are on limited budgets it is very difficult and worrisome for us .

Margarita Bajraktari-Browne (Mount Kisco, 2022-04-09)

#7211

Because oi believe that when I reired the city promised me the health benefits and must keep their promise to all reirees

Elias Blachman (Deerfield Beach Florida, 2022-04-09)

NYC has traditionally provided its retirees with full and adequate health care in retirement. To change this policy by privatizing our plan and charging higher co-payments ultimately culminates in the reduction of good health care at a time in life when we need it the most.

John Lewis (Bridgeport, 2022-04-09)

#7215

My husband and I are both Retired NYC employees who want to keep Original Medicare with a supplemental plan option. We have paid into Medicare for many years, and want to keep the government run plan. Please do not appeal this case, but work with the NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees and the unions to find other ways that would satisfy everyone. Thank you.

Cynthia Teplitsky (NYC, 2022-04-09)

I am 81, soon to be 82 yrs old, on a fixed income and I have ailments that were handled by my original coverage, nicely and affordable.

Peter Malchiodi (Carmel, 2022-04-09)

#7224

I agree with the purpose of this petition.

Michael Cruz (New York City, 2022-04-11)

#7225

I want to keep medicare as an option

helen gitelson (Forest Hills, 2022-04-11)

#7227

The Cost of the Insurance wil greatly impact me and my wife. I feel the City of New York should find other ways to save money and not go after retirees. How do you go after the Older People of this Country when other Countries revere the Elderly. NYC and the rest of this Country is falling apart. Something needs to be done

Jerry Lipson (NYC, 2022-04-11)

#7228

I don't want the Medicare Advantage forced on me

Mark Giffen (Winston Salem, 2022-04-11)

#7232

I am signing in support of preserving the health care that I paid into all my working years and in support of not privatizing my health care into Med Advantage. It is unfair to take advantage of elderly people who are on fixed incomes by putting them into a plan which does not serve their health care needs.

Diana Raissis (New York, 2022-04-11)

#7235

Retirees have rights. We joined our respective agencies, & unions with the expectations that we would be treated accordingly by the City we gave up so much to serve. Don’t abandon those who sacrificed now.

Miguel Sanchez (Longwood, 2022-04-11)

#7238

This is an awful idea, savings for the city on the backs of retires who do not have such a large pension.

NANCY SCHWARTZ (KEW GARDENS, 2022-04-11)

#7239

I DO NOT WANT THE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN

Gerard Troglio (NY, 2022-04-11)

#7242

I believe the City should offer Medicare-plus-supplemental coverage options.

Linda Keen (New York, 2022-04-11)

#7243

I'm signing because I worked for 40 years under the assumption that I would have the health care that I signed up for and retired with. Please do not change it now. I already find it disturbing that drugs that I used to get for a five dollar co-payment when I worked are now being charged at 100 dollars or more per month (as a retiree when I can least afford these prices)

roni mistriel (larchmont, 2022-04-11)

#7244

I was promised the coverage I have now but it seems politicians have short memories. They also do not realize that being retired with medical bills eats away at all that I worked for.

Bill Roane (Staten Island, 2022-04-11)

#7247

Privatization is, at bottom, an attack against Medicare. Fighting it is in the crucial interest of working people everywhere, young and old.

David Laibman (Brooklyn, New York, 2022-04-11)

#7251

The only way Medicare Advantage can save money is curtailing service. That was not part of my employment contract

Rosanne Wille (Cape Cotal FL, 2022-04-11)

#7257

I respectfully request that you abandon the Medicare Advantage plan for NYC retirees

Walter Blanco (Brooklyn, 2022-04-11)

#7264

A municipal authority should not deprive workers of the Medicare benefits we have contributed to receive from the federal government. I never imagined that something so cruel could be done to us.

Stephen Blum (New York, 2022-04-11)

#7267

Health care is of great importance. The professional decisions I have made during my career in many ways hinged on the health care benefit. I urge you to not negate those decisions made in the expectation that the promises made by NYC would be honored. I served NYC in reliance on my health care decisions being honored; I expect nothing less from NYC.

Linda Carpenter (West Brookfield, MA, 2022-04-11)

#7270

I have a terminal illness and abandoning my current city medical insurance which covers my complicated care to take the Medicare Advantage Plus plan would greatly jeopardize this care. I cannot afford to pay the premiums on my own

Barbara Backer (New York, 2022-04-11)

#7272

I'm signing this because our benefits should remain what we were promised when we retired.

Francis Walsh (Levittown, 2022-04-11)

#7275

I wish to remain in the plan I have. Also, there should be NO unilateral decisions made by any ONE group.

Richard Chichester (Medford, 2022-04-11)

#7278

I retired with a package that was promised to me via contract negotiations and givebacks. I expect the city to live up to its agreement with me and other retirees.

Daniel Von Dollen (Blauvelt, 2022-04-11)

#7280

I am signing this petition because I wish to preserve my health care benefits as they were given to me years ago when I retired.

Frances Curran (New York, 2022-04-11)

#7284

If it's not broke don't fix it.

Charles Kramer (Staten Island, 2022-04-11)

#7286

I ‘m signing because I am very much concerned that the City may not honor its contract to employees and retirees to remain on Medicare as is; we should not be forced into a Medicare “Advantage” Plan.

Marie Morse (New Yoro, 2022-04-11)

#7292

I don't want to be moved away from traditional Medicare now or ever.

Ellen Ciporen (Brooklyn, 2022-04-11)

#7301

To secure my benefits

M Williams (NYC, 2022-04-12)

#7303

I'm signing because I retired under certain guarantees promised by NYC regarding healthcare: Traditional Medicare w/GHI Senior Care as secondary. The City cannot, morally speaking, switch horses in midstream without causing undue financial hardship to seniors.
The reasonable solution to the 'financial hardship" claimed by the City, would be to have future City retirees, perhaps, go on an Advantage Plan (similar to what NYU did some years ago), but for God's sake, leave those of us who have already retired alone!

Gayana Jurkevich (Brooklyn, 2022-04-12)

#7306

WE were promised that we would have medical insurance paid by the city when we retired. Now the city want to renegotiate. Shame on the city. Please we are now living with social security and a small pension. Please we are asking you not for us to live in fear.

meredith noon (seaford, 2022-04-12)

#7309

Medicare Advantage is a step backward to a more costly, less efficient, less form of health insurance for seniors. Preserve Traditional Medicare!! It's the best!!

james cohen (New York, 2022-04-12)

#7316

I am signing this petition because NYC Retirees have supported NYC. I’m urging you to show your respect for their works and contributions to NYC by supporting them.

William Laziza (Brooklyn, 2022-04-13)

#7321

this is patently unjust

Cait Cahill (New York, 2022-04-14)

#7329

I'm signing because I don't think it's right u want to take away my medical benefits. I worked for them, they are part of our deal!! live up to your end of the bargain!

Scott Muldoon (Staten Island, 2022-04-15)

#7330

Please respect my 30 years of service with NYC-DEP and not force me into an inferior Medical Advantage plan

Charles Ray (Washingtonville, 2022-04-17)

#7331

As public servants, we all worked tirelessly for decades for salaries far below our value, and far below what we would have earned in the private sector. We were promised the reward of benefits. We earned it. Keep your word and keep our health plan in place. Don't sell us out AGAIN.

Mindi LoCicero (Yonkers, 2022-04-17)

#7340

I am satisfied with our current coverage and see no need to change.

Richard Holahan (ROCKAWAY PARK, 2022-04-20)

#7341

Want to maintain GHI senior care

Eugene Guerin (New Hyde Park, 2022-04-20)

#7344

I’m signing this petition because
I’m a retired FDNY Member and we did not get great raises in fact I remember getting 3 years of 0’s in the 90’s from Mayor Giuliani but I can say that our health care was good
Leave our health care alone
I can’t afford to deal with a Medicare Advantage Plus Plan
Please
Thank you

Michael Satriana (Massapequa, 2022-04-21)

#7348

Leave my Medicare alone

Daniel Ambrose (Cranford, 2022-04-23)

#7349

I am signing because actions proposed hurt seniors who have relied on prior agreements and associated costs. This "DEAL" to reduce NYC costs is wrong.

Sanford Goodman (lake worth, 2022-04-25)

#7355

The proposed Medicare Advantage Plan for Retirees is very burdensome and a reduction to our healthcare benefits.

Arthur Mendelsohn (Brooklyn, 2022-04-26)

#7356

You should not take away the health care you promised us at retirement, especially in these tough economic times. We are large, strong and we vote!!

Michael Smith (MASSAPEQUA PK, 2022-04-27)

#7358

I want to keep the health plan that I was promised.
I live in a CCRC and I was admitted knowing that I have original Medicare plus a supplement. If I no longer met the requirements here, I no longer have the guaranteed use of the healthcare here and that is why we sold our house and bought into this CCRC.

Susan Seidler (Pompano Beach, 2022-04-27)

#7359

this is the ultimate betrayal of all past and future retirees by both the city and labor.

LOUIS MORALES (floral park, 2022-04-27)

#7365

It's the right thing to do as a retired NYC Municipal Employee

Ernest A. Streeter (Bronx, 2022-04-27)

#7369

I'm signing in because the City should not be chargingento keep a health program I've been using for free for TWENTY years

Who Isit (NYC, 2022-04-27)

#7376

My wife & I would certainly be negatively affected by the proposed switch to MA+!!!

Ira Landgarten (Hoboken, 2022-04-27)

#7377

My husband worked for CUNY for decades. It’s not appropriate or fair for the City of New York to now balance its budget on the backs of seniors who, throughout their careers, gave their services to the City based on promised healthcare benefits. The proposed MA plan offers a false choice. And all doctors who accept Medicare will NOT participate as promised in the MA plan literature! An example is our wonderful primary care doctor here in Florida.

Change the plan in the future if necessary but NOT for current retirees. WE LIKE THE MEDICARE-SENIOR CARE plan as is! Allowing us to “retain” the plan at a cost of nearly $400 per couple is a FALSE CHOICE!

Save the City the cost of further litigation and live up to the promises you made to City workers!

Carol Stuckhardt (Jupiter FL, 2022-04-27)

#7379

I'm signing because it is important that we preserve traditional Medicare for retirees and not lock us into a Medicare Advantage program.

Marsha Clark (New York City, 2022-04-27)

#7380

I do not want to contribute to privatizing
MEDICARE.

Susan O'Malley (Brooklyn, 2022-04-27)

#7381

Our current plan is better. Private, "Advantage" will before very long limit our options and cost us more.

Evelyn Barish (New York, 2022-04-27)

#7383

Favor

Jed Canaan (Armonk, 2022-04-27)

#7387

1. NYC is reneging on it's commitment to retirees and the Unions are complicit.
2. Everyone I know who has been involved with Medicare Advantage Plans says to run far and fast from them.
3. Medicare Advantage Plans are "for profit" programs and the bottom line rather, than members healthcare, is most important. They profit by denying service and saying no.

Steven Rizick (NYC, 2022-04-27)

#7388

Medicare advantage plans are bad for older seniors. Just ask the feds.

Tom Diwd (Durham, 2022-04-27)

#7389

I am against the Medicare Advantage Plan, and want to keep my existing plan without the $194 monthly premium. I REALLY DON'T NEED A SILVER SNEAKERS BENEFIT ! I want the health plan I was promised.

barbara shapiro (queens ny, 2022-04-28)

#7392

My mother's medication is no longer eligible for assistance from the manufacturer, Bristol Myers Squibb. Effective 1/1/22, her Eliquis costs $363 instead of $30 for a 3 month supply.

CINDY LIEBMAN (New Brunswick, 2022-04-29)

#7393

I'm signing because New York retirees spent their lives working for the city and they deserve to be given the health care they need and can afford when are old. Trying to save money on their backs, when that money can be saved in other ways, is immoral. A leader is judged by his or her character.
Please protect the New Yorkers who have supported you and this city their whole lives.
Do not take traditional Medicare away from them and endanger their health because of costs they cannot afford.

Manette Berlinger (New York, 2022-04-30)

#7397
