Keep the YMCA Point St Charles in its original building

This Y is an open, welcoming active member of the Point: it provides responsible care and facilities for young children and their families, an open reception for newly arriving immigrant families, a rich and diverse set of physical, social and cultural activities to enrich the deeper lives of its members and the community, a socially nurturing environment for families, the aged and the needy, etc.
And it does it all with a smile and open arms - a much needed nurturing orientation in the contemporary hanging world.

The kids of the Point need their community centre. The YMCA not only provides excellent affordable after school care but houses one of the 2 only CPE in our neighborhood. We need to keep services for our children and families south of Wellington in the Y, it is a local institution that serves a vastly underserved population.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#405

I think it is important for there to be programs available for our youth in the community.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#406

I am signing this because my son and his family live on Pointe Saint Charles and love this YMCA.

(Larchmont, 2019-11-15)

The CEO quote “what is the definition of a YMCA” is the PSC YMCA which has been a model for all of the others. The YMCA represents the true meaning of community. It is a home away from home for this community. MR.CEO hope your children are not on the streets like these children will be.

(Pointe Saint-Charles, 2019-11-15)

This is a wonderful place for kids. I spent my teenage years there, my uncle Ron ran it in the 70's known as (Nipper). Swimming, teen dances, basketball, arts and crafts fantastic place. Kids need this to be kept open so they have a safe place and parents know they are having a wonderful time. Stop the closing.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

Here’s an idea why doesn’t the CEO sit down with the people that know how to run the centre Michelle/Pina
so he could actually figure out what to do then just shutting things down
Maybe they should become the CEOs

In support of community I’m signing this petition. The YMCA delivers opportunity to our youth, specifically to the youth who cannot afford it.
Closing it would simply fail them and the community.

(Saint Lazare, 2019-11-15)

#477

Pointe Saint Charles is my home neighborhood. The center is home to initiatives to help local youth and keep people engaged in their communities. This place is important for people with low incomes as well.

#538

The Y is so important to us, a warm, friendly place where our children can re-connect with their anglophone mates from the neighbourhood who now go to different schools!

(Montréal, 2019-11-15)

#541

Because supporting youth development through sports, supports a brighter future. Thank you for leading this charge Kevin Figsby and others!

(Morin-Heights, 2019-11-15)

#560

I don't live in this neighbourhood but I consider it part of the fabric of the greater community. It's struggling and needs to be supported by the more privileged among us.

(Beloeil, 2019-11-15)

#563

The kids of Point St Charles and surrounding areas need this place. It’s a safe environment with activities to keep the children from just hanging out on the streets. It teaches them to be part of a community.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#565

I feel this YMCA should stay open as this community depends on this place.

(Verdun, 2019-11-15)

#570

This location is important to the residents here.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#571

I believe the ymca is an essential part of the point st charles community and the area is desperate for pillars like this.

(MONTREAL, 2019-11-15)

#576

The Y is an integral and indispensable part of the Pointe-Saint-Charles community.
It’s closing would be a great loss. We are at a tipping point - PSC can be an example to the world in terms of humane urban development,
community conservation and social responsibility - or just another over-gentrified, thoughtless, money-making opportunity, putting profit before people.
Society is a family, not a business and the Y is a key member of our family here in the Pointe, helping all of us deal with the challenges and changes taking place in this historic and precious neighbourhood.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#577

The PSC Y is irreplaceable because it is so much more than a gym. It is really a staple of the community. I speak from personal experience in terms of my own family's involvement and in the many ways in which I've seen the programs and even individual staff positively impact so many people. The PSC Y has done an impressive job of bridging class, language and ethnic and cultural lines; bringing people together within the community in a variety of ways that might not otherwise ever connect.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#580

I live in the pointe, I worked at his Y and it is an integral part of my community

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#585

I’m signing this because this place has been around for kids and adults people go there to have fun and get help it shouldn’t be shut down

(Longueuil, 2019-11-15)

#586

The loss of the point YMCA would be devastating to the community.

(Hemmingford, 2019-11-15)

#587

I use the YMCA Pointe st Charles myself for the yoga classes but beyond that, recognize the great impact it has on the wider community. This is an essential service that should be fought for! YMCA does great work and should stay in the Pointe.

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#589

The PSC YMCA is so important to the community! It offers relevant and important programs for young and old alike, it offers a warm place for people to go in the winter, or a place to cool down in the summer. The staff are the friendliest people and always made me feel so welcome. The PSC Y is so much more than a gym!

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#591

we need the Y in the point!

(Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#594
