Lake Puketerini is a wonderful asset for the residents of Huntly and visitors to the town. Many people enjoy the lake and its surroundings and I’m one of them! I love that my family and I can train there together as It’s one of the last swimmable lakes in the Waikato. Sadly that could no longer occur if a toxic dump is built next to it. Please protect Lake Puketerini!Tanja Miller (Hamilton, 2021-03-09)

It's a lovely freshwater lake that needs to be protected. One of the few places we can safely swim in the Waikato.Simon Evans (Hamilton, 2021-03-09)
#235
This is the only lake left locally we can swim in. Land use changes in the rest of the Waikato have left all of the other lakes effectively unusable and dangerous to humans and animals. An accident is a case of when not if so let’s not run that risk.Neil Berry (Ngaruawahia, 2021-03-09)

I live 400m down the road from where this proposed dumb site is going. We don’t need another dumb in our town and we don’t need it destroying our awa or whenua . our road is over populated with speeding tracks it’s disgusting to see how many trucks go past my home speeding. SO HELL NO DO I WANT A DUMP DOWN THE ROAD FROM MY HOUSE.***** right off with your millions of dollarsTatene wilson (Huntly, 2021-03-11)

I grew up in Huntly. Our water ways are paramount and this dump will affect my children and grandchildren if it goes ahead. It can potentially leak in to our water ways, and if it does, this can have a major effect on the environment, and thats why i believe it would effect my future generations. It is not necessary. Its not needed.Vickiana Muru Moana (Huntly, 2021-03-11)

I'm signing because Gleeson & Cox need to be stopped. This is the last living lake in our area. Gleeson & Cox should stop this in our back yard, and go and do it in their own.Ria Toxopeus (Huntly, 2021-03-11)

Lake Puketirini, the most pure & swimmable regenerated quarry lake in the area (all others are contaminated) is under threat of toxic poisoning with a proposed landfill dump to be developed next door. The Power Station, the COUNCIL & the local residents have successfully worked for over 20 years to turn it into a native wildlife haven & recreational area (swimming, boating, commercial diving school, Waka training) WHY?! What value is there in turning it all into a toxic wasteland?! I will fight against this potential atrocity for the sake of one industrial company’s convenience. Thank you! 🙏Sadie Jones (Huntly, 2021-03-12)

We don't need a dump here. And Gleeson's have no ryte to go forth with this bullshit.Glaudeus Te Wara-Biddle (Huntly, 2021-03-12)

We should be thinking about preserving what is left of NatureAnd put clean water over and above making money always
What we do now will have everlasting effects and pollution and bring death and sickness to the Land the people and the living beings and plants if we do not change now we will have nothing to save and our children's children will be punished by our stupidity and love for money
Please stop this
Keep the waterway clean
This project should not go ahead anywhere in New Zealand
We should focus on No waste economy
Not just bury it
It will always come to the surface
We are the ones who will pay for it

My children along with several others swim in lake Puketirini on the daily. This town is always moaning about wayward children getting up to no good and this is one of the last leisurely activities that the kids here have left and its free unlike the local pool. I am signing because I want to help save and protect this small piece of paradise not only for my children but also for everyone else here who enjoys using this lake and also for generations to come!!Bobby Jo Peke (Huntly, 2021-03-21)

I used to reside nearby and I don't want this community asset, which took years to establish, placed in any risk. Sheer folly to even contemplate a landfill in such close proximity to two major bodies of water such as Waikato River and Lake Puketirini. My family and I regularly used this lake and I feel for my friends and old neighbours in their concerns for protecting Lake Puketirini. Who, what and how will be the fix for this “Managed Landfill” when it inevitably fails? Ring fence it and safeguard it for future generations.Colin Le Quesne (Matamata, 2021-03-28)

I'm singing this because I think huntly should not become a dump. I live local in porritt avenue and we are not very keen to be smelling rubbish burning or even just sitting while we are have a family bbq.Tiana Glover (Huntly, 2021-03-28)

This whenua has great significance to me as it is the original homestead of my tupuna. This whenua was taken from my tupuna to obtain coal it was an established farm that has been in my whanau for many generations my grandmother Puarangi Tarawhiti Kirkwood & my grandfather Mohi Kirkwood raised their 11 children there. The land was renamed Puketireni in 2010 from the name Weavers Crossing, when the old Railway Station building was moved there as Huntly Museum.Yes I object to this whenua being used
