This bill could ultimately work against the very purpose of itself if implemented with the current level of language vagueness used: it is worth postponing it's implementation until it has been amended and made clear and concise.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-21)

Under these copyright laws it will be impossible to secure international work as a local artist due to vague underlining laws. inevitably hurting the very artists it looks to protect.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#274

I'm signing because I believe the bill is vague and confusing and I cannot agree with its contents. Please recommend the suspension of the bill to enable a redraft and subject it to a proper impact assessment process. This is critical!

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

1. We need clear understanding of how the tribunal committee will operate. 2.There has been no impact assessment on how the implementation of the amendments will impact the industries affected, such as how the state will monitor all the art work sold or licensed and how they will disburse the funds thereof.
3.The contradiction of contractual freedom in the bill is very unsettling for our business and we oppose the notion of the Minister of Trade and Industry setting our provisions of our business contracts.
4. We need clear understanding of fair dealing vs fair use as it stands there confusing language in the bill.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#347

South Africa's burgeoning creative industry is still in its infancy and young artists in lower work positions struggle as is. Further exploitation through vaguely worded bills will only hurt the industry and prove disastrous to us junior artists.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#353

I am an artist/creator whose work would be hindered by this amendment bill.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#354

I agree that the bill as it stands is vague and could have unintended consequences

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#358

More thinking about this bill is required. I do not believe that the full impact thereof has been considered. This bill can have very negative implications for the creative industry.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-22)

#359

I believe we should protect the creative industry and believe the bill would do the opposite.

(Stellenbosch, 2019-02-22)

#363

It will affect the VFX industry quite drastically specifically in regards to sourcing work from oversees.

I'm a 3D animator and I deserve the right to be able to work on contracts / permanently abroad.

(Pretoria, 2019-02-22)

#380

I am signing because I am an actor and producer and have seen how the South African industry abuses and exploits creatives and artist in South Africa. The broadcaster, most who work have never produced a damn thing in their lives, are the sole benefactors of other people hard labour.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-22)

#381

It could very negatively affect my career if this bill is approved.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#382

Requesting a delay in signing of the Actors Protection Bill to refine how the bill is applied and affects different creative sectors including the Film Service Industry engaged with International Film and Television Production in Cape Town . This industry contributes to South Africa's revenue and to large degree to the livelihood of actors in this region. I would like to suggest that Regulation by the State prescribing specific contractual terms without the buy in of all the players in the different sectors of the industry will potentially damage it .

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#387

For the bill to be suspended & reviewed to avoid unintended consequences that may harm our thriving creative industry

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#388

This bill will have a disastrous and long lasting effect on the film industry.
It is imperative that the laws align with international regulations and standards. As someone who works in the film industry and with international projects who come to film in South Africa, this bill will prohibit those productions from coming here as they will not want to loose their IP and will turn to competitive locations instead.
This in turn will lead to massive loss in revenues for our country and also lead to job losses not only in the film industry but in all the suppliers such as accommodation, travel, transport and logistics that support the industry. If this bill comes into effect, it will kill the industry completetly.

(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

#391

The Bill is vague and will have consequences that will reduce investment in the creative industries such as film production

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-22)

#394
