This nonsense must stop, the DA mayor should remove these people as he promised. All guys living on the street must be removed. I will help where you need me

Pierre Van Rensburg (Eversdal, 2022-07-16)

#1805

The tent people pose a threat to the direct community and schools in the area

Candice Tanner (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1807

I need to keep my area safe so my children can sleep peacefully!

Sonja Winshaw (Proteaville, 2022-07-16)

#1810

As a concerned tax payer, I have observed the slow demise, but now the ever increasing rate at which Durbanville is deteriorating into a slovenly decrepit state of despair. It is unacceptable that this informal settlement is allowed to deface Durbanville, lowering property values, yet the DA run City of Cape Town still increases our rates and taxes, what are we paying for? The current DA Councilor seems to be unperturbed and should have the legal ratepayers best interest at heart. She seems to be content with the current situation, totally unacceptable.

Peter Huysamer (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1813

My kids school is across from this tented area. It's an eye sore and not safe

Tenielle Jansen (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1814

Its a very sore eye for Durbanville town centre and its definately not safe to walk around there anymore. It really looks gross there

Barendina Van Rhyn (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1820

It is disgusting that council just sits there and does nothing to maintain the general law and order while it's taxpayers have to fork out their hard-earned money to pay their wages.

Ronnie Mouton (Bellville, 2022-07-16)

#1825

It is unsafe for my children to walk around in our suburb, adjacent to the primary school. We've had a few incidents at the primary school where some of the tent village 'residents' expose themselve right in front of kids/parents to urinate, but in a blatant way to cause outrage. I carry pepperspray with me constantly. I've used it on 2 occasions after being cornered and I do not think twice to use it anymore.

Tania Welthagen (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1830

Because I agree with the author of the petition

BEV GREGORY (CAPE TOWN, 2022-07-16)

#1846

I am not for camping in private areas. Before you know it will be a little comunion of street people

Ronel Bohme (Capetown, 2022-07-16)

#1853

Not only is it inhumane hving these people sleeping in tents. We pay rates to live in this area. Its an eyesore . Brings down property value. Yes its also scary

Deelie Boomgasrd (Durbanville Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1854

This is an hygiene and safety issue for our children en residents.

As a resident of Durbanville, with kids in Durbanville Primary, this "tent town" is nothing but trouble. It needs to be removed NOW

Hannes Kotze (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1874

I agree with this petition 1000% it is absolutely unacceptable that these tent dwellers are allowed to squat on this open space where they defecate make fires and walk around scantily clothed at times. As mentioned in this petition they are directly opposite a Primary School and these young children are being exposed to all of this and do not forget about the general public as well.

Furthermore those persons that are giving these squatters the tents and other paraphernalia are encouraging more and more of this too happen. This is defacing our town and MUST be stopped. Furthermore these squatters also harass and even threaten the residents and especially female residents. I agree that a suitable and safe environment must be found for them.

Residents living opposite and in close proximity to this unwanted and unsightly tent town’s home are also surely losing value in their properties.

Michael Ettish (Cape Town, Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1875

Security of our neighbours and protect our value of our homeowners

Chris Rossouw (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1881

Need to protect the town and provide proper facilities

Andre Keller (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1886

It is a great security and health risk for our town. MY CAR HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO TWICE THIS YEAR AS WELL AS OUR BUSSINESS.

Jaco Swart (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1888

This is a safety and health hazzard

Maggie King (Kenridge, 2022-07-16)

#1890

I believe that action needs to be taken for safety concerns, health and cleanliness etc and also to assist the persons living in such horrible conditions

Carin Franken (Durbanville Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1892

Durbanville was once a prized suburb many aspired to moving to, it is fast losing its shine... These people need to be moved to an informal settlement outside of the CBD.

Lance Elliott (Cape town, 2022-07-16)

#1893

It's looks terrible on entering Durbanville and our rates are high.

Sharon Prinsloo (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1895

We work hard to live in a clean, well kept town. The tented camp is an eye sore, a health hazard and a safety hazard.
I suggest more financial support to MES to make it possible for them to effectively help these people in love.

Heidi Ansley (Cape+Town+, 2022-07-16)

#1896

It unacceptable

Martilize Young (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

This is a growing problem that requires immediate attention.

Marisna Von Solms (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

This tent city is a health hazard for legitimite residents of Durbanville. Please remove these illegal squatters immediately

Lesley De Villiers (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1900

I’m concerned for the safety of my family

Randolf Wenhold (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1901

Its not a suitable place for them. Right opposite a primary school. Very bad.

Cisca Le Roux (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1902

I am signing this due to the fact that the homeless living in the tents have no facilities. This creates a health hazard. Unfortunately they are also associated with a rise of the crime rate in the area. Where did they come from? They must be located back to where they came from.

Pieter Rossouw (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1903

This "tent town" is totally unacceptable!

Marilee Laubscher (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1907

Not to be allowed to camp in middle of town.Remove and relocate them to a place where they belong as no taxpaying residents.

Elizette Bekker (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1910

I don’t want an informal settlement in the middel of Durbanville, especially not in front of a primary school where the children may be subjected to all kind of things that is not meant for the eyes/ears of children. Also the smells, poor hygiene and diseases that might emerge from that and the spreading of it, we want to prevent at all cost. Also the possibly of more people in the streets, steeling things that is not theirs, doing drugs etc. Please please no. Move them somewhere else.

Lumari Pretorius (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1911

Marijke Bartlett (Eversdal bethanie, 2022-07-16)

#1922

I agree with the reason for this petition

Rosaria Agostinelli (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1923

It is an health Hazzard, no Toilets, Water or electricity. Tax payers are not going to fit this bill.

Elizabeth Maclachlan (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1924

This is not the correct area for these unfortunate people, they should be moved somewhere more suitable

Claudene Ransby (Cape Tpwm, 2022-07-16)

#1932

I also live in Durbanville with my children attending school across the road from this tent village. I fear for the safety of my children

Wouter Viljoen (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1934

Wouter Kruidenier (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1940

My child attends Durbanville Primary School and I'd like these people relocated for her safety.

Taryn Dekel (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1944

We need to ensure the safety of our neighborhood and our children.

Alida Smith (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1947

It is not acceptable to let people live like that. They should be moved to an area where there is running water and sanitation facilities.

Jaco Bean (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1951

As a resident I feel these people cannot continue to live where they are. Another place should be allocated. This is a health Hazzard and terrible for the residents that live there.

Jacqui Stymonds (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1952

This is unexepytable in our town. They need to be removed. There is risiko’s in staying there without water and sanitary.

Marianne Beukes (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1954

Unfortunately this is a very unhealthy situation which can easily explode into a serious health and social dilemma.

Herman Burger (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1957

I’m tired of the squatters destroying our park and causing a dangerous situation with open fires, unhygienic parks

Maresa Louw (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1959

Is it a security risk for community, school and people staying there.

Ilze Lammers (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1961

I am worried as a bussiness owner in Durbanville. We are a struggling with petty crime.

Edu Hanekom (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1962

This tent location must be stopped immediately - we need to protect the scholars who attend the nearby school, as well as the community of Durbanville. The Police have done nothing to to stop the informal settlement. It is not only a health hazard, it is the beginning of the same problem, such as in Hout Bay.

Barbara Roberts (Durbanville, Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1967

This is unlawful and should be stoped immediately. Unsafe for woman and children passing. Increase in crime in the area. House breakings and drug hub. Stop immediately. We have children that go to school opposite this dump and mothers colleting their children after school. It is unsafe for everyone, they roam the streets at night breaking in. We had enough now.

Liza Bottger (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1968

I'm a tax paying citizen off Durbanville and my Properties value is being effected by the squatters in the park.
It's disgusting.
Illegal and totally unhygienic.
Go back to the location or Zimbabwe where you came from.
You don't belong there and no one wants you there.

Andre Van niekerk (Cape Town, 2022-07-16)

#1969

The tent invaders need to stopped before we have a more serious problem with vagrants or homeless ppl.

Annienne Nel (Boston, 2022-07-16)

#1970

It is not healthy for the people in tents

Adele Lindeque (Cape town, 2022-07-16)

#1974

Informal settlement (tente dorp) is growing by the day in Durbanville!! In the middle of the Town …. Illegal structures!!! After lots and lots of requests to please do something about this growing problem… nothing is being done to listen to us, the payer’s of Durbanville who chose to live here, for a reason … nothing is being done about this and they can stay there illegally!!!!!
Using municipal/public space to invade our Town as they wish.. for free… this is a disgrace… i have been living here all my life, never imagined that this was ever going to happen and be allowed… i am very disappointed ☹️ 😡

Jean de Wet (Durbanville, 2022-07-16)

#1977

#1990

This illegal land invasion by a small group undermines the entire community and negatively impacts society at large.

Henry Du Plessis (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#1992

It is unacceptable to have an informal settlement in the middle of a durbanville with no services such as toilets, water etc. Open fires being made is dangerous. Crime increases in the area as well.

Janet du Plessis (Cape Two, 2022-07-17)

#1994

I live in Durbanville and this squtting is unacceptable.

Jaco Niemand (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)
