Save Rhodesway Swimming Pool (Bradford, West Yorkshire)

TO BRADFORD CITY COUNCIL:


We, the undersigned, wish to protest at proposals to close Rhodesway Swimmimg Pool as part of your cost saving exercise currently being carried out. Weekly swimming sessions for local primary schools and local children are under threat, older people, parents with children, people with disabilities and a number of out of school clubs ie Aqua Aerobic sessions, City of Bradford Swimming Club and Bradford Dolphins Swimming Club to name a few.

When continued upkeep after closure, redundancy payments to staff, and the costs of bussing school children to alternative facilities are costed in, there will be a very small one-off saving to the Council's Budget, with an incalculable loss of a valuable local facility.

We request Bradford Council to hold a consultation forum with local people and clubs affected by this proposal and identify/agree an alternative strategy.
