Objection to residents parking in Woodgate, Leicester

This petition has been raised to object to the councils proposal to introduce  residents parking into the Woodgate area. 
We would either  like the residents parking proposal overturned or specific parking bays to me made available for the use of the patients accessing the dental practice which are close by. This has to take into account the number of patients visiting the practice.

The proposal for residents only parking will make access to the dental services more difficult which has become worse in Leicester. Limiting the parking in the Woodgate area will make the situation worse. Access to the services offered by 44 Dental care is vital for the health of the local population. For example Leicester city has the highest rates of children being admitted into hospital for General anaesthetic tooth extractions in the country. Limiting access will increase rates of patients having oral health problems. Oral cancer rates are increasing in Leicester and again limiting access will only exacerbate these health issues if patients struggle to access the dental practice. The parking proposals have very limited parking spaces for visitors to the area and the pay and display areas are too far from the practice which will disadvantage the elderly and disabled patients. Most patients visit the practice by car and there needs also has to be considered when introducing parking restrictions. 44 Dental care is also a referral centre for  NHS specialist minor oral surgery and many patients access the service from all parts of Leicestershire arriving by car.

 

We are asking our patients to please sign this petition to object to the plans to introduce residents parking. The proposals do not take into account the need for sufficient parking for patients and the parking bays offered are very limited.  We would like enough  parking bays on the Central road and Bonchurch street for patients who are vistiing 44 Dental Care for essential dental treatment. This petition will be presented to the Leicester city council and Liz Kendall (MP)
