NO mega Solar Parc in Raissac-sur-Lampy

We need your help to preserve the unique landscape of Raissac-sur-Lampy and to create awareness around the importance of sustainable site selection for renewable energy projects.  

The private company Solar Parc A 101 has requested a building permit for an industrial solar park of 30 hectares (74 acres) in the small idyllic community of Raissac-sur-Lampy, France.    

Although in favor of renewable energy, we believe that site selection for these projects need to be done in a sustainable way and with participation possibilities for the local community.  

We strongly believe that building a privately owned industrial park of 30 hectares in historic and touristic surroundings such as the Carcassonne Valley in the Cathar Country and so close to habitation and touristic accommodation is not desirable nor sustainable and that such energy industry belongs in an industrial area instead of in an agricultural and touristic setting.  

What are the consequences?
•    30 hectares of actively producing agricultural fields will be transferred into an industrial site
•    This will be a site of 300.000m2 with a total length of 1 kilometer (an area of about 45 UEFA approved football fields)
•    Irreversible change in a very visible natural and historical landscape
•    Depreciation of property value in the direct vicinity
•    Negative impact on tourism and axillary businesses in the area
•    This is not a new vocation for a former industrial site (quarry, landfill, wasteland). This project will create a new industrial site in full view in the            Carcassonne valley
•    This is a private project, with no direct community benefits. There is no possibility for a community investment to produce green electricity for and with the people who actually live there
•    Health and safety risks for residents in the direct vicinity  

So we are asking that you do two simple things:

Together we can create a movement powerful enough to withhold the building permit and change the location of this project to a more sustainable alternative. More strategic placement and long term thinking around site selection for renewable energy projects will make a difference to the lives of current AND next generations, so please help. Nous avons besoin de votre aide pour préserver le paysage unique de Raissac-sur-Lampy ; et sensibiliser la population sur l'importance de la sélection d’un site pour les projets d'énergie renouvelable.  

Récemment, une société privée, “Solar Parc A 101”, a demandé un permis de construire pour la création d’un parc solaire industriel de 30 hectares (74 acres), sur la jolie commune de Raissac-sur-Lampy, France.  

Bien qu’en faveur des énergies renouvelables, il nous paraît indispensable que, s’agissant de projet d’une telle ampleur, le choix du site soit fait de façon réfléchie afin de préserver et protéger au maximum la population et la nature environnante, et de permettre aux citoyens et aux collectivités de bénéficier directement des richesses générées sur leur commune.  

Nous croyons fermement que la construction d'un parc industriel privé de 30 hectares dans un cadre historique et touristique tel que le Pays Cathare, et si proche d’une zone d’habitation, n’est pas souhaitable ni viable ; et qu’elle trouverait mieux sa place dans une zone industrielle plutôt qu’au milieu d’une exploitation agricole.  

Quelles en sont les conséquences?
· 30 hectares de champs agricoles produisant actuellement une gamme de cultures diversifiée (tournesols, céréales, graines d'oignon etc…) sont amenés à disparaître
· Pour vous donner une image de la taille d’un tel site : 300.000m2 avec une longueur totale de 1 km, soit la superficie totale d'environ 45 terrains de football approuvés par l’UEFA !!!!
· Changements irréversibles dans un cadre naturel jusqu’à présent préservé, avec des conséquences négatives importantes sur la faune et la flore environnantes (destruction de l’habitat naturel de plusieurs espèces animales entre autres)  
· Dévaluation immobilière importante pour les propriétés situées dans le voisinage direct du parc
. Impact négatif sur le tourisme régional: Quel intérêt à venir promener dans un champs de… panneaux photovoltaïques ?!
· Création d’un parc industriel en pleine campagne, alors que d’autres sites, déjà existants et à vocation déjà industrielle, se prêteraient mieux à un tel projet (ancienne carrière ou décharge par exemple)
· Les habitants de notre commune n’en tireront AUCUN bénéfice (Baisse du prix de l’électricité par exemple)
· Risques pour la santé et la sécurité des personnes habitant près du parc, parmi lesquels des enfants en bas âge.  

C’est pourquoi nous vous demandons votre aide! Agissez en signant cette pétition et partagez la!  

Ensemble, nous pouvons créer un mouvement assez puissant pour inciter SOLAR PARC A 101 à choisir un emplacement plus propice à ce projet. Un emplacement avec moins d’impact négatif sur la faune, la flore, le paysage mais aussi les habitants de Raissac sur Lampy.
