PARKING PETITION – August 2020

As some of you may have noticed the City of Calgary has installed parking restrictions along the east/west side 1^st Street N.E. after the road barrier. It has become either Permit Parking or a 2 Hr zone Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm. This is creating more of a parking issue to an already congested public parking area.

Residents of Marquee on 16 do not qualify for a Permit and it has made the availability of public parking quite limited and a burden to those living and/or visiting at Marquee on 16^th.

We have learned that the restrictions were put in place in response to a neighborhood petition receiving 80% of resident signatures.

As voters in the district of Crescent Heights each occupant in Marquee should have had the opportunity to challenge this Petition.

We would like to submit our own Petition requesting that some of the restrictions be lifted on the grounds that the parking area in question remains under utilized; that the street remains vacant much of the time.

We strongly encourage everyone to participate, please stop by the sign our online petition and voice your concerns regarding this issue.

Even those of you without vehicles, this affects your visitors.
