Change backyard chicken laws
Here in Putnam Valley, you are required to have an acre of land to keep 20 birds. Many of us in communities have nowhere near that much land. I was in the store, and there were almost no eggs. The ones there were very expensive . Why do we rely on others where chickens are very easy to keep and handy to have around. Not only do they provide eggs but eat waste , provide fertilizer, and eat bugs.
Id like to see the law changed to something more reasonable. Perhaps 8 chickens for a half acre and 4 for a quarter acre. With no roosters allowed. Ive had 4 chickens in my yard before . With a snall number of chickens they dont make noise, coop didnt smell and they didnt bother anyone.
