BAN CRT in NORTHWEST R1 SCHOOL DISTRICT

This petition is open to everyone living in the Northwest R1 School District.
Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a baseless, racist, discriminatory and divisive concept. It assigns characteristics to people, similar to Marxist theology, whereby all white people are oppressors and privileged and people of color are oppressed victims and bear no responsibility for their actions. It has pervasively infiltrated our nation’s schools, being incorporated into history – via the New York Times 1619 Project, literature, social studies, and even math and science classes.
Experience at these schools have shown that CRT has not created racial sensitivity and harmony, as it purports to, but instead has done the exact opposite. CRT lessons have proven to be dehumanizing and prevent legitimate relationships among students of varying demographics. It teaches students to judge others not by their character, but by their skin color – a complete reversal of the message Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached, and which has been a moral foundation in education for over 50 years.
The mounting evidence of CRT harm shows there is no basis for implementing it, and no valid purpose or goals to be achieved by it. Furthermore, although there has been a widespread adoption of CRT throughout the U.S., no one has demonstrated the validity and/or effectiveness of CRT training and teaching, nor proven the outcome of CRT training and teaching has been nothing but detrimental to students, families, educators and the community.
We, the undersigned, wholly disavow the concepts of Critical Race Theory and REJECT the following in our Northwest R1 schools: implementing CRT training to teachers, incorporating CRT into core curricula or any CRT related courses into the classroom, implementing CRT instruction and funding programs and positions used to create and promote CRT.
We the parents and community members of the Northwest R1 School District are requesting that the school board and administration approve to ban Critical Race Theory (CRT) from our schools, our curriculum, and our staff development plans. This does not only include just CRT itself, but all education programs based on or created on Critical Race Theory.
We the parents and the community members of the Northwest R1 School district believe in equality in our schools and that education should never discriminate against anyone based on race, sex, ethnicity, or religious beliefs. Everyone deserves a fair, safe, and successful education at Northwest and do not want CRT to divide our community.
