Owner no longer going to build padel courts at Noordhoek Garden Emporium!

Dear petitioner,

Many thanks for having signed the petition indicating that you are against the construction of padel courts at the Noordhoek Garden Emporium (NGE). The overwhelming support from the community has helped to convince the owner to reconsider his plans. He has now officially indicated to the neighbours that he is cancelling his plans for padel courts and instead will look at alternatives.

In his letter to the community he says:

“Dear Resident Re: Padel Courts at NGE It has always been my intention to enhance the NGE site and to provide additional product and services that Noordhoek residents want and need. Whilst I strongly believe that Padel courts meet these criteria, it has become a controversial mater that has divided the community. This goes against my intentions and for this and other reasons, I have decided to no longer pursue the construction of Padel Courts on this site. I intend to pursue further enhancement in the form of providing more retail space, a restaurant, wellness centre and a small office park Further to this I am making application to the City of Cape Town to lease a portion of the land adjacent to NGE for the construction of a “Sports Hub” This will include indoor Padel Courts, a small Astro field for soccer, hocky and net ball, a pump track and club house. I will engage with the community regarding such development with the hope of securing the support for such. Sincerely Brendhan Jock Kannemeyer Manging Director The Noordhoek Garden Emporium”

Thank you again
