A call for the resignation of Bishop John Organ

As members of the community, we are deeply disturbed by the recent actions of Bishop John Organ of the Diocese of Western Newfoundland. Our fellow, faithful servant, Dean Catherine Short, who is a dedicated and respected member of our community, has become a target of slander. She is a beacon of compassion, pouring countless hours into feeding the unhoused and ministering to those in need.

On a recent Sunday morning, Bishop Organ abused his privilege of addressing the congregation. Instead of using this time to inspire and guide the community, he chose to deliver a slanderous speech about Dean Short.

This misuse of the pulpit as a platform for personal attacks is beneath the dignity of the role Bishop Organ occupies, and we believe it is grounds for his resignation as well as reinstating of Dean Catherine's license. The Anglican church is a space for tolerance, love and respect for fellow humans, not a platform for bullying. We strongly condemn this conduct and demand his resignation as a measure of justice and restoration of our community's integrity.

Please join us in standing for respect and tolerance in our community. Sign this petition to demand the resignation of Bishop John Organ for his unwarranted behaviour.
