Council Meeting this Wednesday 9am
2023-03-27 10:48:35Folks, it is time to get angry and ready for Wednesday 29th 9am at the Cairns Regional Council in Spence Street.
We need ALL of you there! It is now or never. If we can't manage to get our right to pay by cash back on a regional level, we have a problem.
Our Cairns Council recommends to stay cashless!
We need to rise up! Don't expect problems to solve itself. Frankie Hogan did all she can, by starting this petition, but now we have to back her up.
Be there! No excuses! Attend the ordinary council meeting on the 29th March (Wednesday). Starts at 9am in the Chambers at Spence Street, Cairns City

Signatures handed over to CEO - Council Sitting and Vote 29th March
2023-03-25 09:23:58Hello everyone,
Just letting you know the outcome of the four week petition that I started to support Councillor Brett Olds against the Cairns Regional Council's CASHLESS management facilities.
Yesterday, I gave 4,990 petitions to Cairns CEO, Mica Martin, however over 5,000 people did sign the petition but some arrived too late for processing and handover, but they will be given to the CEO next week at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 29 March at 9am. Here is the breakdown of signatures: Online at FNQ Businesses United (1,148), plus paper petitions (3,842), totalling 4,990. What a tremendous effort! A big thank you to FNQ Businesses United whose support for this petition was, without a doubt, monumental! I couldn't have done it without their knowledge and input.❤️
A big thank you to all the businesses who supported the online or paper petitions. Thank you for encouraging and waking up your customers with some home truths about our council's decision making processes that invariably affects us all.❤️
Another big thank you to my hard working friends who delivered and collected petitions from businesses, who tirelessly walked the streets of Cairns informing and gathering signatures.❤️
Also a big thank you to our local radio stations, 4CA, Cairns Community Radio 89.1, Indigenous Radio 98.7, Cairns Post and TV stations who reported the problems associated with the council's decision to go CASHLESS at their facilities. Please let your "loud voice" be heard in the ears of our Councillors before Wednesday 29 March. Phone or email to demand they reinstate and preserve our rights to use CASH, our legal tender, at all Council facilities. It's our choice, not theirs! 🤗❤️
