Your voice has been heard!
2020-12-16 12:48:14Following our request at the local council meeting of 15 December 2020, Mayor Benoît Cerexhe has backed down on his plan to maintain the 50 km/h speed limit on the Drève de Nivelles, Avenue Frères Legrain and Avenue des Volontaires after 1 January 2021. These roads will therefore be reduced to 30 km/h as of 1 January 2021: this is excellent news that we are delighted about!
Concerning the avenue Jules César and the avenue de l'Atlantique, the Mayor remained much more vague, referring to a consultation with the inhabitants of the district. We remain concerned and we ask the Mayor that this consultation take place on the basis of a mobility study that analyses beforehand the impact of this measure on transit traffic through our residential area. While waiting for this mobility study and this citizen consultation, we ask the Mayor to provide that these roads will be limited to 30 km/h from 1 January 2021.
Otherwise, we are determined to continue our actions with you.
Thank you all and see you soon for a new update on our civic action.

Interested in the Mayor's reaction? This Tuesday December 15 at 8 p.m. live!
2020-12-14 20:14:50During the Woluwe-Saint-Pierre municipal council on Tuesday at 8 p.m., one of our neighbors will challenge Mayor Benoît Cerexhe on his road project at 50 km / h through the Chant d'Oiseau (see text of the citizen's questioning in the appendix).
This municipal council will be broadcast on the Youtube channel of the municipality, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTevkn0I2_GryfcvYCUc0jQ
Since the (first!) meeting that several of our representatives were to have with the Mayor tomorrow Tuesday at 5 p.m. has just been canceled by him due to "a last minute agenda problem", we still do not know the intentions of our Mayor: will he persist in his insane project which will explode the transit traffic in our district or will he finally start a dialogue with the inhabitants of the Chant d’Oiseau?
We therefore invite you to follow this debate online in order to check for yourself that the Mayor has taken into account the extent of the dispute that has animated our district since the beginning of December: our online petition is the most popular petition in Belgium since the start of last week and has already reached 800 signatures! It is enormous!
Your neighbors and knowledge of the neighborhood have not yet signed the petition? It's time to send them the link before tomorrow evening to make their voice heard, our voice!
We are determined to get all the Chant d'Oiseau roads to go to 30 km/h from January 1, 2021. We will also ask the Mayor for a concrete action plan in order to put in place effective and rapid measures to ensure the safety and tranquility of the inhabitants of Chant d'Oiseau.
Otherwise, we are determined to continue our actions with you.
Thank you all and see you soon for a new update on our civic action.

Help us win our case!
2020-12-11 22:12:19Thank you for signing the petition but we still need YOUR help...
In less than 5 days we’ve collected more than 580 signatures and had some great press coverage (see the links below).
Things are moving, but not enough. Even though the WSP town council says it is just a “pilot project” that could be adapted later, it still insists on keeping a speed limit of 50km/h in the heart of a residential area.
In politics nothing is as permanent as the temporary, so we can’t let this drop now. Such an ill-conceived scheme, brought in without any serious study and with local residents having no say, can’t be allowed to come into force on 1st January 2021.
Please can you help us again by:
- asking your families, friends and acquaintances to sign the petition so we can reach 1,000 signatures before the town council meeting on Tuesday;
- sending an email to the mayor Benoit Cerexhe (bcerexhe@woluwe1150.be) and his alderman Alexandre Pirson (apirson@woluwe1150.be) informing them of your dissatisfaction. Just explain why you don't want their project. Add actionchantoiseau@gmail.com in copy.
- using social media of the mayor Benoît Cerexhe (Facebook and/or Twitter and/or Instagram) and his alderman Alexandre Pirson (Twitter) to tell them publicly why you don't want their project. Create visibility.
We can have 30km/h throughout Chant d’Oiseau but we need your help! We will win TOGETHER!
Thank you for your efforts and we’ll update you again soon.
